TWELVE ANGRY MAN

Twelve Angry Men is a drama written by Reginald Rose concerning the jury of a homicide trial. In this paper we are going to identify and describe the different steps in the group dynamic. During the steps we will see the methodology to form a group from the scratch. Each step is focused on recruit to the group a different personality.

-Putting conscience in the group, what if?

In this step, the main character tries to put conscience in the group about the importance of making a conscientious decision. -What if you were the boy? At least we have to discuss the points and go deeper into to support a group decision. 1st vote: At the beginning although 11 of the 12 think the kind is guilty, the sense of teamwork was completely inexistent, each one think by himself without any interest of others opinions. This was clear when each one give the reason of his vote. Some of them base on facts, others in feelings, connections with past experiences, no reasons etc. Conclusion 1- first we need to listen each other and then go from the easiest to the hardest personalities.

-A reasonable doubt, the witness may be wrong

In the 2nd step, the main character gave a reasonable doubt of how is it possible the witness may be wrong. This was an important step of the group because here you start forming the group. Conclusion 2- Start with the open-minded personalities. For they, may be enough a reasonable doubt.

-The hardest part, convincing the majority

In this part is defined the course of the group. Here it is necessary give a forceful reason. The important thing here is that you are not alone. The small group can create the environment and dynamics to gather ideas that finally result in a definitive explanation. Conclusion 3, An small group, with a clear focus, can give a convinced argument the rest of the group most of them people base on logical and rational arguments.

-There is always one against the group

For some personalities, there is no valid reason, no valid explanation; anything that is not his own intuition is unacceptable. There is no way to convince this kind of personalities, they have to convince themselves. That's the reason why in the movie the main character decides to let the hardest person to the end. When the majority of the people is well defined as group, the only choice of the rest is accept the prevalent opinion. Conclusion 4, Let the hardest personality to the end. At this point hi will accept the decision of the group because there is not other option.
