Northeast Georgia

Arts Tour 2008

Now Two Weekends!
June 20th -22nd & June 27th –29th
Join the Tour!
This self-guided driving tour through beautiful Habersham, Rabun,
White & Stephens Counties showcases local artists, art related businesses
And other attractions in the scenic mountains of Northeast Georgia
Mountain Heritage Arts Tour is now the “Northeast Georgia Arts Tour”. The new name is simple, descriptive
and allows for the growth that we continue to experience. This popular event has brought increased traffic to
our local businesses, and more awareness of the variety and high quality of art and entertainment offered in
our region. We hope you take advantage of the opportunity to participate.
This year we are expanding the event to two, three-day, weekends. In addition to that, our map / brochure will
be even larger and color-coded. These two open-house, event filled weekends will provide exposure for the
participating businesses that will translate to more customers year round. The cost for participation (any level)
is $50.
If you’d like to offer financial support to this event that helps to promote local artists,
businesses and the Northeast Georgia Region as a tourism destination, please consider
becoming a tour sponsor. For details see the sponsorship page.
Participating businesses may choose from three levels of participation. All will be listed on our website
and the tour map/brochure to be distributed through local businesses and area welcome centers.
1. Numbered Tour Participant - Your business will be assigned a tour number, linked to / listed on the website
and the tour map. You will be provided with arts tour signage. You agree to the tour requirements.
2. Business listing - Business will be linked to / listed on the tour map / brochure and website—this is not just
advertising. We anticipate that these will be shops, restaurants, lodging, wineries, etc. that will be of
interest to tour participants but will not necessarily have demonstrating artists/activities.
3. Special Events - Event will be listed and described on the map / brochure and website but business will not
be open all 6 days. Example: dance, performance, reception, special exhibit, workshop, etc.

Requirements for “numbered” business participants ...

•Be open (at least) 10 AM - 5 PM on Friday and Saturday - and 12-5 on Sunday.
You must be open both weekends but may either choose one weekend for your activities and events or get
the most return for your efforts by planning 2 fun-filled weekends. The truly ambitious can offer activities or
classes between weekends.
•Provide arts related activities and or demonstrations during the tour hours. We encourage you to think
creatively about the type of activities and demonstrations you offer. “Arts” is an inclusive term not just relating
to visual arts but also music, performing arts, culinary arts, literary arts, winemaking, etc. Decide what best
represents your business and have fun with it.
•Work with the area manager to provide all required information in a timely manner and promote the tour
through mailing lists and other resources.
To make the most of this opportunity we also encourage each participant to join forces with other businesses in
their immediate local area to share and expand upon additional promotional and advertising opportunities.
The mission of the North Georgia Arts Tour is to promote awareness of the Northeast Georgia Mountain
Region as a destination for a wide variety of high quality art and provide visibility to artists,
art-related businesses and sponsors who support the arts, the tour and the area.
