The M1116 Up-Armored HMMWV is specifically designed to support the diversified needs of SF and CE missions and EOD BRAAT operations. Several vehicle configurations are available through the use of bolt-on kits, permitting the vehicle to be tailored to specific mission requirements while the base vehicle retains its superior protection system and performance. This flexibility enables the M1116 to meet Air Force and Navy needs for years to come and allows further refinements and additions to be incorporated on an as-needed basis.

M1116 Up-Armored HMMWV with Kit A

The M1116 Up-Armored HMMWV with Kit A provides the gunner with 360 perimeter protection from assault rifle rounds with a fully operable turret. The turret facilitates the use of M60, M2 and MK19 with MK64 mount.

M1116 Up-Armored HMMWV with Kit B

Utilizing Kit B, the M1116 provides additional overhead fragmentation protection for the gunner. Kit B allows for the use of the M82A1 Barrett Rifle in the Barrett soft mount.

Gunner Protection Kit Kit C

The gunner and crew are provided added underbody protection when this kit is installed inside the vehicle. An adjustable gunner platform permits height adjustments. Double layers of ballistic steel and aramid blankets reinforce the floor and prevent grenade fragmentation entry into the crew compartment.

Oil Pan and Transmission Protection Kit D

Kit D provides added protection against underbody blasts and fragmentation, providing enhanced crew and vehicle survivability. It also protects the engine from off-road hazards.

Traversing Mechanism for Turret Operation

This new design provides continuous 360 traversing of the entire turret assembly using both Kit A and Kit B.

New Environmental Cover

Specifically modified to meet the exact specifications of the US Air Force, the rear storage compartment has been enlarged to provide greater payload flexibility. Padlock handle latches tailgate and hatch.
