DRAGNA CRIME FAMILY STATISTICS History The Dragna Crime Family can trace its roots all the

way back to Sicily in the 1890s. Then, Don Antonio Dragna ran the Mediterranean island with an iron fist. He was respected, loved, and feared all at the same time. As he grew old, he retired and his son Vito Dragna assumed power in the early 1900s. Deciding that Sicily had become too violent and too many men out for power of their own, Vito took his wife and young children to Liberty City in the United States in 1909. Vito worked with other Sicilian immigrants to establish a network of protection for immigrating families. This protection racket soon became what is known today as the Dragna Crime Family. As the early 20th Century grew, so did the familys operations. By the late 1930s, the family had taken over many rackets that included extortion, money laundering, gambling operations, truck heists, protection, lotteries, and other general criminal activity. However, Liberty City (like Sicily) soon became oversaturated with too many crime families all wanting the same piece of action. The Dragna Family, now under the control of Don Antonios grandson (Vitos son), Michael Dragna, expanded operations out west, settling in Los Santos in the 1940s. Operations commenced near the docks, as well as the lucrative gambling business in neighboring Los Venturas, allowing the family to build up a reputable namesake on the West Coast. However, it would not all be glam and glory. Between the 1960s and 1970s, most of the family and other west coast based crime factions were either destroyed or significantly hampered with law enforcement intervention under a federal government program to put an end to organized crime. Those who did not get sentenced to prison, or were murdered for speaking, had to take up legitimate operations or hide in order to survive. The Dragna family all but ceased illegal operations, and turned instead to solidarity lifestyles. The quiet life would last into the late 1990s until a resurgence in organize crime sprang from Asian and Hispanic criminal elements. Seeing an opportunity to return to the life, Michaels eldest grandson, Edward Dragna, assumed power as boss of the now small sized family in an attempt to return it back to a powerhouse criminal empire. At the turn of the millennium, Edward took the barely noticeable family and placed them back on the organized crime map. Today, the Dragna Family runs sections of Los Santos with connections all over the state. They operate small time crime as well as major organized operations. The goal of the Dragna Family today is to be a powerful and sustainable family, rather than a large family without accountability.
