CHAPTER 1

I.

Introduction This study investigates the different impacts of characteristics of a leader

to employees credibility and satisfaction. Comprehend its contribution and effects to the employee. As well, how it influence employee to be satisfied and loyal in the company. W e observed that, as today, its difficult to measure the credibility of an employee. To see the different characteristics of a leader as one reason why employees are not satisfied at their job and dont have the eager to give their loyalty. Leaders are giving an authority to accomplish certain tasks and objectives in the organization (called assigned leadership), this power does not make them a leader, and it simply makes them the boss (Rowe 2007). Leadership differs in that it makes the followers want to achieve high goals (called Emergent leadership), rather simply bossing people around (Rowe 2007). It clearly shows that leaders can influence individuals in doing their jobs. The employees will become credible if the affection that they received from the leader is true. It is the start of creating and getting the trust and letting us know their satisfactions. As effective leaders, we should use a pattern of behaviour that is appropriate for the situation and reflects a high concern for task objectives and a high concern for relationships (Yukl, 2006, p. 76). By using the pattern of behaviour, employees may feel the importance that is being given to them and it will give a positive impact to a leader. Leader effectiveness refers to the amount of influence a leader has on individual or group performance, followers

satisfaction, and overall effectiveness (Derue, Nahrgang, Wellman, & Humphrey, 2011). The individual leaders may have a natural set of strengths or preferences in terms of skills such as task, relationship, and change behaviours, it will help us broaden our style range and develop assessment skills that will enable us to use the appropriate mix of behaviours for particular followers and situations. Remember that a concern for both people and results is important (Thomas Packard). It will not just lead us to the success of the company but also to the credibility and satisfaction of the employees.
