Principles of Good teaching

1. How I could using the concepts of the PRINCIPLES OF GOOD TEACHING

PRACTICE and how could describe and how you will develop each principle in my TP
taking into account the previous Teaching Experience that I had?

Faculty concern helps students
get through rough times and
keep on working. It also
enhances them to think about
their own values and plants.

Active Learning is not spectator sport.

Students do not learn much just
sitting in classes listening to
teachers,
memorizing
prepackaged assignments, and
spitting out answers. They must
talk about what they are learning,
write reflectively about it, relate
it to past experiences, and apply
it to their daily lives.

"Active Learning" is, in short,

high expectations.
High expectations are important
for everyone- for the poorly
prepared, for those unwilling to
exert themselves and for the
bright and well motivated.

As a teacher, I must have lot

students,
because we must establish goals
to achieve in specific time. So if
I motivate to my students to get a

good work.

talents and styles to college.
Brilliant in a seminar might be
all thumbs in a lab or studio;
students rich in hands- on
experiences may not do so well
with theory. Students need
opportunities to show their
talents and learn in ways that
work for them.

As we know, everyone has

different way to learn. As a
teacher we must know our
students, because there are a lot
of individual differences, also,
we must encourage their talent,
we must combine the learning
style and try that everyone has
the same purpose.

2. How could design my TP based on the approaches, methodology, methods, strategies and
techniques that it will be defined my teaching style?
Well, I had the first experience with students from the school, it was good but I think that
I was not prepared, but I tried to do in the best way. Nowadays; I have learned a lot things, for
example; what important is to apply a good approach and methodology, including methods,
techniques and strategies, for get a good teaching. Teaching is not easy, but if you take all these
elements, you will be a good instructor in the teaching practice. As we know, when you teach,
you must carry all the activities systematically to keep order about what you want to teach. When
you create the planning, you must take in account or include what will you teach, who will teach
and learn, where teaching will take place, and how teaching will occur. Thinking about it,

Principles of Good teaching

because it is not something easy to performance, this is a hard work between teacher- students,
both must have patient to work together. Although the teacher begin as the content expert, whos
going to share knowledge, but the main purpose is create Rapport between them , teaching
means create competence with all the students, the teacher will be a knowledge manager and the
student will be creator of own learning.
As a teacher, the selection is headed by the principles of teaching in which must take
some essential elements such as; the experience, the objectives to achieve, what kind the student
will have, the topic and the time. So; these are elements that we must never forget, but what we
could include in teaching plan? First an approach, it describes the nature of the subject matter to
be taught. Then a methodology, it is essentially the way in which a teacher chooses to explain or
teach material to students. As we know, there are many different methodologies that can be used
by a teacher, and the methods chosen often depend on the teaching philosophy. A methodology
of teaching can include the use of lecturing, group or small group discussion activities, and
engaging students as teachers for their peers.
It is important to understand that a teaching methodology is not the same as a teaching
philosophy, though they can often be related. A Methodology is the systematic, theoretical
analysis of the methods applied to a field of study, or the theoretical analysis of the body of
methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge. The philosophy for a teacher is
the belief in their own teaching practice, for a getting of good results from their students, and the
ways in which students and teachers should relate and interact in the classroom. This philosophy
often impacts the choices a teacher can make regarding which teaching methodology or
methodologies that you can choose to use, but they are not necessarily directly connected.
Teachers commonly refer to their preferred teaching methods and philosophies together, to give
other teachers or students an understanding of their approach to education.
Some approaches using in teaching Communicate Approachcomprehension
approach, Cognitive approach , General approach, and Counseling- Learning Approach
These are working with methods. So, a methodology that could apply in my Teaching practice
will be blended with some methods, techniques and strategies to use in class, as we know a
method is a way of teaching a language in which is based on systematic principles and
procedures. Interactive methods: 1) Direct method, 2) Total Physical response, 3) Community
language learning, 4) silent way. 5) Communicate language Teaching and the structural method
such as; 5) Grammar translation that its related with the grammatical structure and meaning and
function of the words.
What is a Technique? it must be consistent with a method and therefore in harmony with
an approach as well. Some techniques that I could apply in my classroom: Translation of a
literary passage- Language learning provides good mental exercise. Memorization: A List of
vocabulary words. Discussion or Debates - Students are talking about any topic giving the point
of view, also, making Questions and Answers exercise, Concept Mapping - A concept map is a
way of illustrating the connections that exist between terms or concepts covered in course
material; students construct concept maps by connecting individual terms. Dictation: It refers to
know about the identification of the listening skill. Communication practice: Making

conversation each others. Teachers silent: It refers that the teacher sits down and student takes
the lead to talk about, also when teacher is showing some pictures, they must deduce what it
means. Giving commands: the commands are given to get students to perform an action.
Authentic materials: the teacher must use an interesting material and authentic for the students,
so they cannot have problems with the understanding of the material.
Strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a goal, the teacher decides to have the
students work on the strategy , also models the use of it, so will contribute to academic success,
for many students, strategies have to be learned, the best way to do this is with hands-on
experience. There are some strategies that I could apply in my teaching practice; Metacognitive
strategies strategies that are used to plan, monitor and evaluate a learning task. The two
categories are cognitive strategy which involve learners interacting and manipulating what is to
be a learned, for example; replaying a word or phrase mentally. Social or effective strategy;
learners interact with others person or use affective control to assist learning. Finally, all these
important elements for teaching practice could be used to create my own teaching style.
Suggestions to teach!
1. The purpose of teaching is learning- learning is changed behavior.
2. Admittance of our ignorance is the entrance to our own education.
3. Knowledge is more than information- it is conversion.
3. In my teaching design how I could include IT or how to teach English on-line? And how
could define e-learning and blended learning?
Nowadays; the new technologies has become a good tool to performance the Teaching
Learning process, because as we can see, we left the traditional method to teach, now we use
different kind of tools as a methodology. Basics tools for use in the classroom. For example; the
data show, the computer and also we can use some basic programs to develop the class. Actually,
the most teachers use Virtual Education such as; forum, platforms, online class to interact with
the students creating a virtual environment. How can define e- learning? E-learning (or
eLearning) is the use of electronic media and information and communication technologies (ICT)
in education. E-learning is broadly inclusive of all forms of educational technology in learning
and teaching. How can define Blended Learning? Blended learning is a formal education
program in which a student learns at least in part through online delivery of content and
instruction with some element of student control over time, place, path or pace. It combines faceto-face teaching with distance education, frequently electronic, either computer-based or webbased. It has been a major growth point in the ELT (English Language Teaching) industry over
the last ten years.
Various technologies are used to facilitate e-learning. Most e-learning uses combinations
of these techniques, including blogs, collaborative software, portfolios, and virtual classrooms.
These are: Audio: The radio has been around for a long time and has been used in educational
classrooms. Recent technologies have allowed classroom teachers to stream audio over the
internet. There are also webcasts and podcasts available over the internet for students and
teachers to download. Video: Videos allow teachers to reach students who are visual learners
and tend to learn best by seeing the material rather than hearing or reading about it. Teachers can

access video clips through the internet Websites like YouTube. Computers, tablets and mobile
devices: Allow students and teachers access to websites and other programs, such as Microsoft
Word, PowerPoint, PDF files, and images.
Blogging: Blogs allow students and teachers to post their thoughts, ideas and comments
on a website, creating an interactive learning environment. Virtual classroom: Virtual Learning
Environments (VLE) is often using a mix of communication technologies, an example of web
conferencing software that enables students and instructors to communicate with each other via
webcam, microphone, and real-time chatting in a group. Participants in a virtual classroom can
raise hands, answer polls or take tests. Other communication technologies available in a virtual
classroom include text notes, microphone rights and mouse control. So, there are some essentials
tools that as a teacher we could apply in the classroom, because its necessary involving in the
new technologies with the students and not hide of it.
