Music Conference & Showcase


Saturday 1st March 2014 10am3.30pm The Ron Cooke Hub, University of York

You are invited to join in this day of celebrating and showcasing best practice in inclusive music projects. Youll have the opportunity to take part in workshops and professional development sessions, enjoy performances and have a go with some hands on demos. We want you to interactively share best practice and increase your skills and knowledge as well as enjoying performances led by young people involved in Accessible Arts & Media, NYMAZ and other Youth Music funded projects.
Opening with a short presentation from Dom Smith, (winner of a National Diversity Award in 2012) the day will offer a festival of activities and events for all. The day will revolve around a series of Showcase events including performances from a wide range of young people and the many fantastic projects they are involved in. In addition you can take part in some stimulating CPD events Workshops with: Phil Mullen, Tina Pinder, Drake Music, Yorkshire Youth & Music and Music and the Deaf. The day will nish with a big sing and sign led by members of Accessible Arts & Medias fabulous singing and signing choir Hands & Voices and young Inclusive Music Projects (IMPs) groups!

This fantastic Inclusive festival will include the following...


 Opening presentation by Dom Smith Dom Smith is the co-founder of business network, Disabled Entrepreneurs and media agency The Creative Condition.  Drake Music A short CPD session which explores the Ramp It Up project.  Come and nd out about the the vocal tract larynx stimulator and some of the new inclusive ipad apps in a session led by David Howard University of York  Phil Mullen will be delivering a CPD session Working with Excluded children  Music and the Deaf will be here to demonstrate with a showcase workshop and offer a review of Music for Young ears  Yorkshire Youth and Music will be giving an insight into their fantastic Amazing Music Technology projects  Take part in some hands on demonstrations with Theremin Bollards and other inclusive music technology.  Tina Pinder will deliver a CPD session on Music Making with Children w/ASD  Listen to some young people performing Castaway will be here, as will MiXit a fabulous inclusive pop group, and IMPs. Experience new compositions and installations created by young people with SEND in the 360 space. Have a play on the Gamelan.
