New RoGator Released

The newest member of the RoGator family is now available. The RG700 Self-Propelled RoGator Sprayer offers the same precision and durability youve already come to know and love, but in a smaller package. The RG700 features an industry-leading AWD Smart Drive System, even weight distribution and Parallel C-channel flex frame to provide consistent field speed without shifting and exceptional traction with all four tires. This results in more precise application, less wear and tear on the booms, and a smoother ride despite varying field conditions. With two axel configurations (narrow and standard), multiple track widths are available to operate quickly and easily through a wide variety of crops, crop heights, and field conditions. It features 80-foot or 90-foot booms to fit the needs of custom applications on smaller fields. The 165-hp engine makes the new RG700 more powerful than most competitive sprayers and produces more torque to provide consistent power to pull through rough terrains, over hills, and on soft, wet ground. This much power means the Tier 4i AGCO Power diesel engine offers a six -cylinder performance in a fourcylinder package. Equipped with AGCOs advanced selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, the RG700 meets EPA requirements without sacrificing power. (Continued on

New 9000 Series White Planter

White Planters are built for planting accuracy. With the touch the seed as little and lightly as possible approach, these planters do not include strong vacuums or mechanical delivery systems. Rather, White Planters use a positive air system, which does not require seals that can fail, and requires less energy for accurate operation. The new 9000 Series White Planters maintain the delicate seed handling and accuracy already associated with White Planters, while boasting improvements on previous designs. The 9000 Series features a larger double disc seed trench opener (16-inch) to allow for deeper seed placement. The new cast and machined row unit assembly provides strength and precise, consistent alignment of all components. Seed enters at the lowest area of the seed sump, making gravity do all the work to ensure superior seed singling. The seed release tangent is near the bottom of the seed disc rotation, allowing each seed to be released as it is traveling downward and slightly rearward in the curvature of the seed tube. Minimal contact of the seed with the seed tube throughout the seed disc speed range provides superior in-row seed spacing and higher yields. The seed depth adjustment handle provides adjustment and visual indication of planting depth along all row units from .25 to 4.5 inches in inch increments. Walking the handle one notch at a time, side to side, increases the depth by an inch. Seed depth placement numbers are molded into the casting providing a convenient visual indicator of the depth of seed placement in inches for each row unit. Additional material has been added to the gauge wheel arms to increase gauge wheel arm life under rough planting conditions. The pivot bearings incorporate nonmetallic composite bushings and shaft seals for maintenance-free performance. The gauge wheel arm depth stops are cast into the row unit for consistent range of motion between row units. For more information, contact your local MacAllister Ag representative.

Who is Training Who?

As the Agriculture Division Manager, it is clear that Jay Shininger knows a lot about CATs. But you may not realize he knows a lot about dogs too, English Shepherds to be precise. Jay, his wife Vicky, and their four children carryout the English Shepherd dog breeding legacy of Jays father, Fred Shininger. What began nearly sixty years ago with the purchase of a single English Shepherd, has evolved into one of the premier bloodlines of the breed. Shininger dogs are known for their obedience, ability to work livestock, and gentle temperament. Jay grew up with English Shepherds on his parents family farm in Ohio. In his eighteen years at home, the family sold several hundred puppies. Breeding and raising dogs is a learning opportunity that he now shares with his wife and children today. Jay and Vicky began their dog breeding business about four years ago and have sold over 100 puppies. It began with females from the familys bloodline and a male they purchased outside of the Shininger lineage. Continuing the Shininger English Shepherd legacy results in much more than just high quality animals. It also results in countless life lessons for their children. Growing up with the dogs, Jay knows firsthand how much training a dog can teach both the trainer and the trainee. Throughout his life, he has trained at least fifteen different dogs. Some of the most important lessons Jay has learned from his dogs is that every animal training experience is a leadership opportunity (skills that have no doubt aided in leading MacAllister Machinery to being the states fastest growing ag dealer). Jay points out that it is also important to remember that every dog is different. A training technique that works with one dog may not work with another (as with children). When the leashes are put away, the food bowls are filled, and the dogs are resting; one must ask, Who is training who? Children learn more from their pets and livestock than from any textbook or classroom. These are life skills that keep us going and make agriculture families an American tradition founded on hard work, honesty, and respect. Jays children share some of the lessons they have learned while working with the dogs below. Also pictured below is their eldest, Emily, who received 3rd place at the 2013 Indiana State Fair in the Obedience class with her dog, Lucy. What life lessons have your pets or livestock taught you and your family?
"At first when I was training dogs, I knew only the basics. I only thought that I would give the command and the dog would listen and do as I told them. I didn't know they had feelings. I needed to get their respect. I find dogs as great friends because they don't judge...and they listen. They are always there for you. No matter what." ~Emily (13) Having dogs has taught me the basic principles of leadership. Reward and discipline with firmness, always with love. Also, dogs forget things every 5 minutes. You have to re-train over and over again. It's also taught me that if I show my confidence, my dog will feel the same. My dog will act like me. ~ Deacon (12)

I have learned how to work smoothly with a dog and that I must show them how to do it. ~ Sarah (9)

I have learned that it's hard to take care of dogs. ~ Joseph (7)

Fall Fashion Fixes

Salad Spinner: Dry your delicate sweaters after hand washing them. To reduce the dry time, use a large salad spinner to shake off excess water, then lay flat to dry. Umbrella: Air-dry your laundry. Give new use to an old umbrella that has lost its ability to ward off the rain. Cut the fabric off and hang the frame upside down from a shower rod. Clip light -weight items to the frame with clothespins. Rolling Suitcase: Store out of season clothing while you count down the days until your next summer vacation.

We cant argue that logic. Have critters claimed your equipment? If so, we want to see it! Share pictures of your pets, livestock, or uninvited rodents with your farm equipment. There are two easy ways to share your photos: submit them via email to Caryn Schoeff at CarynSchoeff@MacAllister.com or post them to our facebook page at facebook.com/ MacAllisterAGDivision. Your photos will be included in the next edition of The Grain Bin. Be sure to include your farms name and the location of the photo/ your farm. Feel free to include any additional details youd like to share. We look forward to seeing what your critters have been up to! Deadline for submissions is December 31st.

Holidays & Events Farmers Future Forecast

predicting the weather since 1792, when Robert E. Thomas devised a secret formula for forecasting. Todays forecasts are based on three scientific disciplines: solar science, climatology, and meteorology. The predictions are determined by comparing solar patterns and historical weather conditions with current solar activity. According to the Almanac, both the Lower Lakes Region and the Ohio Valley will have below normal precipitation with above normal temperatures during the month of October. November will bring about a deviation from the norm for both regions. The Lower Lakes will experience above normal temperatures and perception during the eleventh month, while the Ohio valley will have below normal temperatures and precipitation. Be sure to have your heavy winter coat ready for December. Both regions will experience significantly lower than normal temperatures. And the Lower Lakes Region should expect a white Christmas with above normal precipitation, while the Ohio Valley will have slightly less precipitation than normal. 4 12 19 29 31 2 3 5 28 29 30 2 18 21 24 25 26 31 Ten-Four Day Columbus Day Sweetest Day National Cat Day Halloween Sadie Hawkins Day Daylight Saving Time Ends Election Day ThanksgivingMM CLOSED Black Friday Small Business Saturday Cyber Monday freeshippingday.com Free Shipping Day for great deals!
