back in the day people could actually afford a fee for service system because th ere weren't millions

of people with autoimmune diseases, diabetes, obesity, infl ammatory bowel disorders, etc. Those disorders were mostly nonexistent back the n cause people weren't filling their diets with tons of processed food and artif icial junk that are a major factor in all these diseases, and people wonder why our healthcare costs are skyrocketing as the rates of disease are skyrocketing. Everyone wants to talk about access to care and insurance but nobody on either side wants to talk about what's driving the cost. That's what happens when heal thcare becomes a purely political matter, and when a corrupt federal agency (the FDA) and equally corrupt pharmaceutical companies control the medical community . Im against the use of drugs as a primary means to treat any disease, because the y only treat the symptoms. Nutrition and diet are far more important because po or nutrition and diets are often the cause of the most common diseases we have i n this country. I was trained as a naturopath, so we were taught to use herbal medicine, supplem ents of all kinds, electrical devices, and of course making dietary changes. Germany is leading the world in medicine because it is far ahead of us in terms of using alternative medicine in their hospitals instead of relying completely on drugs which don't work. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dana-ullman/homeopathi c-medicine-euro_b_402490.html Germany also has a long history of using natural methods to heal disease, which I learned in med school . . .http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2013/521879/ The medical system in the US is controlled by the pharmaceutical companies and o ur corrupt FDA, so they'll never let alternative medicine replace drugs here as long as they're in power. Many books have been written about it and documentar ies made. We've been having a debate in this country about how to lower healthcare costs, with one side saying we should have the gov't control the whole system, while th e other side says the gov't should be left out of it for the most part (which I agree with). The problem is both sides miss the most important factor, which is that we treat symptoms here instead of the root cause of diseases, and we only use drugs, which by definition don't cure people, and usually make people worse. So people who are sick are prescribed drugs that make them even sicker and the y have to keep going back to the doctor, keep getting expensive tests and proced ures done, and keep getting more and more expensive drugs that don't work. No emphasis is placed on prevention through diet and nutrition and treating dise ases holistically with natural methods as your country and many others do. It's all very maddening, but at least people are starting to wake up here. More peo ple than ever are avoiding MDs and going to naturopathic doctors and nutritionis ts now, and I believe that trend will continue as the truth about drugs will con tinue to come out. I follow a neurosurgeon on facebook who is also an expert in alternative medicin e. He says he's been using the cortisol saliva test for years and it's "deadly accurate". You're right that if you take the test one time and it's high it could just mean there's something causing the boy to have high cortisol temporarily, so the way you rule that out is you do the test regularly either every day or every week o ver a period of time, thus proving that it's chronically high and consistent. Y ou can also have them do the saliva test in the morning, afternoon, and at night , that way you can see how it fluctuates throughout the day. I personally believe depression is caused just as often by biological/biochemica l factors as it is by psychological/environmental factors that end up having a b iochemical effect on the brain. This is based on my own experience, and there i

s lots of research to back up this theory as well. It's of course not accepted in the medical community because they have no drug to treat that, all their drug s just effect neurotransmitters. http://www.futurehealth.org/populum/page.php?f=The-Inflammatory-Theory-of-by-Lew is-Mehl-Madrona-120801-604.html http://www.researchgate.net/post/Inflammatory_Neuroinflammatory_Theory_of_Depres sion http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-01-02/health/sc-health-0102-inflammation -20130102_1_moderate-depression-depressed-people-inflammation http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/10/101020091857.htm When I get a chance I'm gonna write about my experience with the doctor I saw ye sterday. I will try to go get the tests he ordered but I won't be going back to see him, he was horribly misinformed about digestive issues. To give you an id ea of how bad it was, at one point he told me I should go back to including glut en in my diet, even though I told him I have a blood test proving I'm allergic t o it, and if that isn't enough, I have a severe reaction a day after I eat it. He didn't believe me, which is what I expect from any doctor trained conventiona lly in this country. It's funny cause just yesterday I was talking to a former nurse on this website, she's from Germany and she was telling me how advanced their medical system is. I told her I learned all about the history of medicine in med school and how i n Europe and even this country, the standard method of treating every kind of di sease was to use natural treatments, and that's still the way it is in the major ity of the countries in the world. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dana-ullman/homeopathic-medicine-euro_b_402490.htm l http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2013/521879/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3033860/ These are some articles I found that highlight these differences. It's sad that americans have no perspective on this and have been brainwashed into thinking o nly drugs can treat disease and anything natural isn't legit or backed up by sci ence. Strange how we use more drugs than any country in the world, yet we have the highest rates of the biggest diseases in the world. The rest of the world looks at our medical system and wonders why it's so ineffe ctive at curing people yet costs so much while theirs is the opposite. The answ er is really simple, we rely heavily on drugs, they rely heavily on natural trea tments. One of the consequences of changing the healthcare system to one that focuses on prevention and actually healing people through diet and other natural methods i s that doctors will have far fewer patients and make less money. I think one of the problems is now the doctors expect to get paid a ton and rightly so cause t hey go through hell in med school. So we need to completely change the way med schools are run: a)start the training in college, combining it with courses the students would already be taking that are redundant, that way they don't have t o pay extra for the extra years of med school and have such huge loans, which is another reason they need to make a lot of money. They would also spend a lot l ess time in school and could start their practices earlier. This is what many c ountries do because it's just more practical b)reduce the number of hours med s chool students spend on the job in residency, especially the overnight and 24 ho ur shifts. It's counter-productive and ironic considering they're approaching m edicine in an unhealthy way, and it's well documented that sleep deprivation cau ses memory problems, increases in cortisol, and mental errors, which you dont wa nt in a hospital. c)
