2.1 Karakteristik Sosiodemografi yang berperan terhadap pengetahuan remaja mengenai HIV/AIDS a) Umur Age may play important role in knowledge level of HIV/AIDS(1). Salah satu fase yang mempunyai kerentanan yang tinggi terhadap penularan HIV AIDS adalah masa remaja, suatu masa yang mempunyai mobilitas sosial yang paling tinggi dibandingkan masa usia lainnya.(3) Adolescents vulnerability and susceptibility to sexually transmitted infections (STI) and Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV) is no longer a matter for debate, but calls for concern and concerted efforts of various stakeholders in sexual and reproductive health. Adolescence is a period of life that has come to be regarded as a period of intense sexual interest.(2). From research by Okeke C E , 9.1% of those under the age of 30 years believed that HIV could be transmitted through mosquito bites as against 2.8% of those 30 years and above (1). This reflected deficiency in the knowledge level of adolescent that are younger. (1) b) Jenis Kelamin WHO/UNAIDS 2007 Reports reflect that about 33 million people are living with HIV, 15 million of which are women and 2.5 million are children under the age of 15.(1)Young people; especially women 20 24 years old are increasingly vulnerable. Among those aged 15 24 years, the estimated number of young women living with HIV/AIDS was almost twice that of young men.(1). They are vulnerable due to their low status, low education and gender inequality (8). A research done in 2002, showed that 27% of the men who have sex with men also have a female sexual partner. This makes the women vulnerable since the HIV prevalence among the men having sex with men is high .(4)
