I am ready and want to be a army soldier like my dad. I want to make him proud and I am going to do it by winning the war. I am starting out with training as a Private but I hope to advance in the ranks and turn into a Corporal or a Sergeant. As I progress throughout I would like to get the Medal of Honor metal and be a Colonel or a General! These are my plans for the army. Training is over and boy am I glad that it is over. We did the most excruciating things ever! Now that is over we leave in 4200 hours to Vietnam. I cant say the details, but I can say that we are raiding a camp approximately 30 clicks from our base camp in ******** (location classified). The camo is heavily guarded so we have snipers on top of the ridge to give us covering fire. When the snipers start firing at the camp, we are supposed to ambush them because the enemy is going to be busy with the snipers so we can mow them down. Me and my squad of 5 is equipped with M4A1s with silencers, IN-FR x4 sights and foregrips. Our sidearms varies, all but two of us have M1911s with extended clips. There are two guys with rocket launchers, one has a SMAW and the other has a Javelin. The snipers are equipped with the L118A sniper rifle with muzzle flash and a straight pull bolt. We have been told that the enemies have sam turrets so our helicopter cant get us to close. But we have ground assets to get us close. Now we wait until the snipers fire some shells into these guys. The snipers have started firing and now we push the enemy. They had no idea that we were coming so we shot all of them. They all fell on the ground, with their guns loaded about to fire. We did it! The battle was over! It was a little shorter than I thought but we did it. My squad leader radioed in for extraction by a BlackHawk helo. We made it back to base and we all celebrated with some drinks and went to sleep waiting until the next mission. I couldn't fall asleep because my blood was still flowing and pumping thinking about what we did back there. I wondered if I was going to get promoted for killing a lot of them and coming out alive. I wondered and now we just have to wait until then or wait for another mission from the command center. In the morning, I woke up and none of the other soldiers were at their beds and I wondered why. Maybe they are out for breakfast? I got dressed and went up. My squad and other squads were there, also the General was there. He told me to get up to the front. I wondered why. Was I getting honored? The General told the room how brave I was pushing the enemies and being fearless in front of enemies that had guns that could kill someone. I felt honored and the General promoted me to the rank Sergeant I. I felt that I did great for my country that night and I simply ate breakfast and talked after that.
