A CAREER IN IT
The information and communications technology (ICT) sector spans a diverse range of businesses in areas from computer hardware and software, networking and communications to the Internet, telecommunications, multimedia and more. A career in the ICT industry will involve working with organisations to develop and improve technology solutions which address their business and information needs. Much of the work in ICT requires people who can design and deliver IT solutions which improve business efficiency and productivity. INDUSTRY AND JOBS


Information technology refers to both the hardware (e.g. keyboard, monitor, and personal computer) and software used to add, save, store, retrieve, and manipulate digital information. This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in administering a variety of networked computer systems. The qualification has a strong information technology base of core units with the potential for inclusion of a range of broader industry-specific units in the areas of virtualisation, sustainability and project management to suit particular needs. This course allows students to get an indepth knowledge of policies and procedures within an IT environment, disaster recovery, identify business IT requirements, IT maintenance, systems security and testing, Website development and Java programming.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
On achievement of a Diploma level qualification, Martin College graduates can apply for provisional associate membership of the Australian Computer Society. (acs.org.au) Complimentary for the first year.

The Diploma of Information Technology Systems Administration delivered at Martin College focuses on systems administration, which can lead to many rewarding career paths in the IT industry on graduation.  Develop proficiency in the use of computers and computational techniques to develop effective information systems that solve real world problems.  Learn to build and configure a server in line with enterprise requirements.  Develop skills and knowledge in network administration as well as systems security.  Learn the latest technologies in Martin Colleges computer labs.  Transfer to a degree with up to 1 years credit.

Martin College IT courses have assumed ICT knowledge and skills that are in line with the learning outcomes from the Certificate II in IT or Australian Year 12 computing subjects. Students who do not have these competencies may complete them free of charge at Martin College through the IT Fundamentals Course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Martin College offers flexible access to its courses. Students who do not have the academic qualifications indicated in the entry criteria may demonstrate, by way of an interview, that they possess the skills and capability to succeed in the course applied for.
