The Words Program

There in now only one self-extracting file to download, containing both the program and the data. Use your browser to download this file. Click and save. ,!-fcwin*e/e This .E E file, executed on your machine will produce about !" #$ of program and data files %and then the &'( may be discarded, but you may want to keep it for a backup in case something happens to the program). 't is usually good practice to make a subdirectory %to keep things together) and copy the .E E into it, then run it in that subdirectory. The files created are*

The file +,-./.,C.3T# provides some documentation, and is also accessible on this site as WORDSDO *0T&. This is stand-alone, it is not callable from the +,-./ program. &E1%2%3S O%L4 There are academic situations in which it would be inappropriate for the student to have access to the parsed forms information, but for which the professor might allow simple meanings. 4or this situation a modification has been made producing a program called #E56'67/, and it is available in the distribution. -un this in the presence of the dictionary files, 8ust like +,-./. This is a version that is crippled to output O%L4 &E1%2%3S, no parsing of the word. 't is hard-coded so there is no way to output the case2tense, as opposed to the option in +,-./ that allows the temporary suppression of this information. 't does allow the display of the dictionary form, which seems to be appropriate and allowed for the intended use. OPER1T2%3 S4STE&S This is a version compiled on +indows to run as a console program %keyboard entry). 't will run on+indows 9:29;26T2#E2!<<<2 (. 't runs like a .,/ program, line-oriented, without fancy +indows 7U'. The .,/ version will also run in +indows, but the +indows version has the advantage that it terminates gracefully when run in the .,/ partition of +indows. There is no significant algorithm or vocabulary growth, but the changes are worth the reload.

Decem6er '((8 - %ew version ,*!-E of the +indows +,-./ has been mounted as the regular distribution. The main improvement is an English-to-0atin phase, invoked by 1E or 1e. The dictionary how has >?<<< entries, including a significant increase in medieval and modern 0atin.
