World, Nation, difficult person in your life, ! Read devotions/ scripture ! Help others ! Cook a meal, donate food/ clothes/books ! Spend time with others ! Fast ! Food, technology, bad habits, consumerism ! Pay it forward - see back cover

The 40 days of Lent provide us an opportunity for reflections and spiritual growth. Traditionally the practices have been prayers, fasting, giving alms/serving. However, these dont save us Jesuss death and resurrection has already done that already. As we take on a Lenten discipline we may draw closer to God.

What is: Pay it Forward?

Paying it forward* is doing something for someone with the hope that they will do something nice for someone else down the line. From helping someone in a store, holding a door, buying a cup of coffee for a stranger, paying for someones lunch who looks like they need it, Paying it forward is about doing as Christ would do. The Book of Ruth instructed landowners not to reap the corners of their land allowing the poor to have the edges of the elds - this would have been a pay it forward! Some Pay it forwards would be: Pay for a frazzled moms Coffee/Lunch Coffee for an outdoor worker, attendant, or the homeless Pay for the person behind you in fast food line Give up a parking space on a rainy/cold day

Daily devotions today! Did you know Our daily Bread has an app so you can read your devotions on your phone? The Woman of the ELCA also has an app for daily devotions! Add devotions to your Lenten Journey! Christs life was dedicated to teaching, preaching, and caring for others.
