Love Shouldnt Hurt: There is No Pride in Sexual Assault or Intimate Partner Violence in the LGBTQ Community Tuesday, March 4th 12:30pm- 2:00pm MUB 327 (OMSA)

Sexual assault or intimate partner violence can happen to anyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. As an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, do you know how to support survivors who are LGBTQ? As an important social justice issue, ending sexual assault and intimate partner violence is connected to ending all oppression and inequality. 50% of transgender individuals experience sexual abuse or assault at some point in their life. Sexual violence can be used as a weapon against people who identify as or are perceived to be LGBTQ. Abuse and sexual violence occurs in same-sex relationships as often as it does in other relationships, and should never be silenced. Some survivors who are LGBTQ may fear that support services and care providers will be homophobic or transphobic, and may need your help to seek the services and support they need. Join us for this important conversation.
