To avoid the windscreen wiper from starting during the update, remove the fuse J400- (control unit for
wiper motor) in the E-box in the engine compartment.

The software versions in red cannot be updated.
In these cases the engine control unit must be replaced.

The following points must be observed before the update.

VAS PC: The Volkswagen brand CD from version 18.08.00 and the basic CD version 18.00 or
higher must be installed.

Offboard diagnostic information system service: The Offboard diagnostic information system
service patch version 1.0.1 and the baseline version 1.0.0 or higher must be installed.

Make sure that a battery charger is connected to the vehicle battery.

The online update of the control units via SVM (Software Version Management) can only be
performed with a networked Offboard diagnostic information system service/VAS PC tester. The
column "online from week*" shows from when the software is available.
You also receive the new software with the update DVD software adaptation for control units. To find
out the DVD from which the software is available, refer to the Software DVD column. Even with the
DVD an online connection is necessary (insert DVD and start update via SVM).
