OIL PAINTER AND SCULPTOR FREDERICK HOLMAN ANNOUNCES A SHOW OF HIS OIL PAINTINGS at Willows Bistro, located at 3749 Main Street in Warrensburg, New York. The show is open during March. This show features 30 of Mr. Holmans paintings, including his most recent landscapes alongside a few of his earlier works. Mr. Holman, a landscape architect and planner, started painting in 2005. What began as an interest in refining my drawing skills turned into a passion for exploring the joys of nature and the challenge of the inanimate object through painting, says Mr. Holman. As a landscape architect and planner by profession, the outdoors and creating beautiful, functional spaces have been part of my life for more than 40 years. He has been painting since 2005. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design Painting and Drawing Certificate Program in 2007, Mr. Holman obtained the technical knowledge needed to use his natural talents in his paintings. He has explored many media, but today oil is his preferred medium to paint still lifes, portraits and landscapes. While much of his work is done in the studio, he enjoys plein air painting as well. The studio is located on the Schroon River in Brant Lake, New York. Mr. Holman is winner of Saranac Lakes Adirondack Plein Air Festival 2012 Artists Guild Award. He is currently Board President of North Country Arts Center and founder of the Art in Chestertown Gallery in Chestertown, New York, where he serves as Gallery Coordinator. He is also a member of Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC) and Saratoga Arts. Mr. Holmans work has been shown at these venues and at other juried art shows in the Adirondack region. Im not too sure about dogs or children, but am okay with some other cats. If I sound like the lady for you, please come visit me at Second Chance! ON THE FARM

Whether youre starting from scratch or redesigning an existing barn for your horses, keep these guidelines in mind. The stable aisle is driveway, foyer and living room all in one. Because of the busy traffic and multiple uses, a badly designed or poorly maintained aisle is at least annoying and at worst dangerous. Whether youre designing a new stable or improving an existing setup, consider the following aspects of aisleway safety as you plan: Dimensions Aisleways eight feet wide or wider allow two horses to pass without crowding, or a single passerby to make the journey without being nipped by occupants on either side. This width is also adequate for even large horses to turn around safely. Aisle ceilings are best constructed very high (nine feet or more) or very low (around seven feet) but heights are dependent upon the horses being stabled. At these heights, a rearing horse either wont reach the rafters, or hell connect before he gets up the momentum to damage his poll or face. Floor Avoid or remove slick asphalt or smooth concrete as aisleway footing. When money is no object, interlocking rubber paver bricks are a safe, classy flooring that requires little upkeep. Texturized concrete, which incorporates coarse particles for extra traction, and stall mats placed over slicker surfaces are a step down in cost but provide clean durable surfaces. Dirt and stonedust floors are cheap and safe, but both require maintenance to keep them smooth and dust-free. Lighting Mount light fixtures where they pose no hazard of being contacted by horses but will still illuminate the aisle fully and cast light on the sides of cross-tied horses being examined, groomed and tacked up. Cold-proof fluorescent lights are inexpensive to run and cast a more This weeks ag report is consistent light than incandescent bulbs. Clutter Even the best-designed aisle sponsored by: becomes dangerous when feed cans, saddle racks, wheelbarrows and the like form an obstacle course. For safetys sake, adopt a minimalist policy for maintaining your aisle; 1135 STATE RT. 29 cross-ties, stall cards and blanket racks are GREENWICH, NEW YORK, 12834 really all you need. If your tack and feed (518) 692-9611 FAX - (518) 692-2210 rooms cant hold everything else, consider adding an extra shed outside the barn to store overflow equipment.

Appropriate for Middle Schoolers on up to Senior Citizens! "This book was born out of a conversation with a young man who had some pretty strong negative perceptions of the Christian faith.... He described many of the same frustrations I had as a pastor with how Christians sometimes act and with the beliefs about God that many Christians hold....This series is for two audiences: The first is young adults who are turning away from Christianity in larger numbers than previous generations did at the same age and stage in life.... The second audience is Christians: I invite them to examine their attitudes, actions, and beliefs. I offer a different way of understanding some very serious theological issuesrelated to the nature of God, Scripture, science and faith, the religions of the world, and homosexuality- from what is often articulated by the loudest Christian voices in the current culture." Adam Hamilton *Each session will include an Opening Prayer, some Scripture reading, a video presentation (which is actually Adam's sermons), some discussion, and reflection. *The purpose of this study is not to debate beliefs or opinions but to help you hear and understand the perceptions and feelings of young adults outside, and often times inside, the Christian faith. *There is no need to purchase the book, but feel free to do so if you wish. It is on Cokesbury.com, and amazon.com for as little as $9. There will be one copy at the program. *For any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Linda Sheeran-lsheeran6@gmail.com or 885-1729, or Gary DiLallo- Gary.A.DiLallo@gmail.com or 8778045.
