SBM-IRFI SPA was established by the merger of S.B.M. S.r.l. and I.R.F.I. S.r.l., two companies leader in their sector: the aim has been to provide a more complete offer, even on turnkey basis to their old and new customers. Since 1975 S.B.M. provided erection jobs and assembly of welded systems in the different industrial sectors. Over the years it has grown providing its services to the different sectors in the field of industrial plants. S.B.M. operated through its own technicians specialized in the specific operational field, with state of the art equipments. S.B.M. works with specialists in the design and with modern and suitable equipment. All this allows S.B.M. to operate in different industrial fields, with specific and diversified performances. Consequently to this merger, SBM-IRFI SPA is today a leader S.B.M. operates in the steel industry as supplier of erection jobs, commissioning and start-up of continuous casting company, able to understand, study and provide solutions to the different problems, which today occur in the steel plants. Design, build and install steel plants: this has been the mission of I.R.F.I. Its innovating design and production approach, in this specific sector, has been built throughout more than thirty years activity, through the cooperation with the most reputed plant manufacturers and steel works in Europe. I.R.F.I. can offer therefore a specific know-how and the support of a skilled technical staff. plants, electrical arc furnaces, dedusting plants, rolling mills, piping and auxiliaries. This extraordinary know-how allows S.B.M. to provide the highest performances, which can meet the specific requirements of the customers

Products and Services

Pressure vessels.
SBM-IRFI SPA builds any type of pressure vessel according to the PED ASME VIII div. I and II AD2000 specifications. In order to ensure the respect of the most strictest international regulations, tests and controls, in the different working stages, are performed by internal inspectors and/or by inspectors of the most reputed international control and inspection companies.

Water Cooled Roofs.

I.R.F.I. designed and built its first cooled roof in 1980, as part of a program called water cooled components for EAF. At that time this innovative technology allowed I.R.F.I. to save money and time in maintenance, in order to pay back the investment in few months. Today, based on this consolidated and popular technology, SBM-IRFI SPA continues to innovate, with the aim to reach greater efficiency and design solutions, built in accord to the client request. This concerns both the new plants, and, even more important, the revamping works, where the respect of the general measures of the existing site is often a limit.

Ducts and dust-chambers for dedusting plants

The ducts and dust-chambers are designed and built by SBM-IRFI SPA in pipe to pipe version. Wherever the operational conditions are more severe (chemical corrosion, etc.) or the maintenance works are particularly heavy, SBM-IRFI SPA designs and builds a half pipe to plate version: the plate, in special steel, is bended and welded and offers an internal flat surface, easy to clean up and, if necessary, repaired; the half-pipe is welded on the outside part of the plate and provides an efficient cooling. SBM-IRFI SPA supplies, on request, auxiliary equipments, such as electrical and temperature control switchboard, hydraulic system, etc.

E.A.F. crucibles.
According to the customers needs, SBM-IRFI SPA, with its own technology is able to design, build and install any kind of EAF crucible, with or without EBT. In order to respect the international standards, the products are subjected to strict controls during all construction steps.

Water cooled roofs for LF and VD/VOD.

Depending on customers needs, SBM-IRFI SPA, with its own technology is able to design, build and install any kind of roof for the LF systems and the degassing processes.

Quenching chamber.
SBM-IRFI SPA, with its own engineering, has developed, designed and built quenching chambers (or spray chamber). This specific part of the fumes suction and treatment system allows, on one side, to dramatically reduce of the residual values of furans and dioxins and, on the other side, to eliminate the coolers located at the top of the filter, reducing the cooled portion length of the plant. SBM-IRFI SPA is able to design, supply and install quenching chambers for any type of existing plant, on turnkey basis, including the commissioning and the startup.

Fermentation cylinders (BRS) of solid urban waste (RSU).

SBM-IRFI SPA provides, on turnkey basis, pre-fermentation bioreactors of solid urban waste (RSU), including design, built and erection. This technology allows to produce high quality compost and electric energy, through the first waste treatment.

SBM-IRFI SPA is qualified for the execution of public works by CQOP S.p.A. of Milan certificate no. 11592/10/00 for the following categories: Cat. OG 6 class. III Cat. OS 14 class. III Cat. OS 18 - A class. IV SBM-IRFI SPA has the following certifications:

ASME VIII div. I and II issued by the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors
AD2000 HP0 issued by HSB Global Standards Rheine (Germany). Besides, SBM-IRFI got on 05.05.2005 the EMAS registration (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) no. IT-000319 in accordance with the CE Regulation 1221/2009 in order to improve its environmental efficiency.
