National Faith and Immigration Reform Leaders Act, Fast, Pray in the Heartland of Texas
Fast for Families Eliseo Medina, NCLRs Janet Murguia, NaLECs Gabriel Salguero, Broad Spectrum of Faith Leaders Take Center Stage in Arlington, TX, Urge Texas Congressmen to Heed Moral Call for Commonsense Immigration Reform TEXAS On Tuesday, March 11, following stops in Waco and Temple, Fast for Families Across America will join a broad spectrum of faith leaders in Arlington, TX to strengthen the communitys fervor for immigration reform and call on Congressmen Joe Barton and Sam Johnson to heed the demand of their constituents. Following a private meeting with Congressman Joe Barton, thousands will gather as SEIUs Eliseo Medina, National Council de La Razas (NCLR) President Janet Murguia, and Cristian Avila of Mi Familia Vota unite with Evangelical, Catholic, Methodist, and many more faith leaders including NaLECs President Rev. Gabriel Salguero and Pastor Lynn Godsey (A.H.E.M)to send a thunderous message from the evangelical heartland to House leaders in the U.S. Capitol.

The Fast for Families Across America bus tour covering 18 states and more than 14,200 miles kicked off in Los Angeles on February 24 and is targeting 75+ key congressional representatives and mobilizing advocates from across the political spectrum to fast, act and pray for commonsense immigration reform. Fast for Families reignited the immigration debate last November when Eliseo Medina and Cristian Avila abstained from all food, except for water for 22 days on the National Mall. Joined by faith, labor and immigrant rights leaders and thousands across the country who fasted in solidarity, the movement drew national attention, including the support of President Obama, members of Congress many of whom fasted and national civil rights leaders. ***MARCH 11, TUESDAY at 10:15 AM*** WHAT: Following a private meeting with Congressman Joe Barton and the Fast for Families delegation, national immigration reform advocates and a broad spectrum of faith leaders will hold a press conference and rally to call on Congressman Joe Barton, Sam Johnson and House leadership to champion commonsense immigration reform. WHEN: Press conference begins at 10:15 AM on March 11, Tuesday (Community Rally starting at 11:00 AM) WHERE: St. Matthew Catholic Church: 2021 New York Ave, Arlington, TX 76010 WHO: Fast for Families leaders Eliseo Medina and Cristian Avila, NCLR President Janet Murguia, Rev.
