THE IMPACT OF THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS ON THE

ENVIRONMENT
Dr. ALI ABDALRAHMAN ALI
PRESIDENT OF THE ARAB FEDERATION FOR ENVIRONMENT
PROTECTION

Introduction:
Dominates most of the analysis on the global financial crisis, the current
focus on the effects of economic, social, political, and did not enjoy the
environment with the same emphasis to this crisis, particularly those
relating to the implications of it with respect to natural resources,
where there is a direct relationship between the current financial crisis
and the use of natural resources, is the lack of environmental resources,
and the pressure on natural resources is a driving force that led to the
global market crisis. As a result of human consumption and growing
more quickly to natural resources (consume these resources at speeds
up to 30% in view of the time you need these resources to be able to
renew itself) will see the century atheist twenty shortages in natural
resources, after he was human, 50 years ago, consume approximately
only half of which could land an opportunity to recycle their
production. While we do not change our approach to natural resources,
it is expected by 2050, the emergence of the so-called ecological
footprint, will have grown at twice the Earths energy biological
weapons. Although he did not rule out that the financial crisis have a
positive impact on the environment, even in the short term, due to the
possibility of changing peoples behavior consumer, but it considered
that this impact will not only be limited given the magnitude of the
crisis and its seriousness, as the Earth need to change the paradigm
shift in the the way we use natural resources. There is a direct
relationship between the current financial crisis and the use of natural
resources. Where the lack of environmental resources often result in
economic repercussions.
The planet is threatened by environmental collapse similar to the global
financial crisis:
A report of the organizations concerned with preservation of the
environment that the planet is threatened by environmental collapse,
adding that the attrition suffered by the Earths natural resources has
exceeded its capabilities by nearly one-third. And more than threequarters of the worlds population live in countries of consumption
beyond the capacity of regeneration and compensation for natural
resources, and where they borrow and exceed the allowable balance.
This is in respect of land suitable for agriculture, forestry and water

resources, marine and other resources Almstvzp. Been done including

the effects of economic, including higher prices for food, water and
energy. It is interesting to consider that there are calls for new policies
to address environmental imbalances, which affect critically on the real
factors of production. Has issued several studies, to address the dangers
of global environmental degradation and global warming, and what
could be done to humans and the bio-economy of the damage, not
accompanied by the later processors. It seemed clear that the global
economy to lose large sums of money as a result of forest degradation
and the extinction of more than Stjerh upon the current market crisis.
Have been estimated roughly, the annual costs resulting from forest loss
at between 2 5 trillion U.S. dollars, and that these figures come from the
sum of the value of the various services provided by forests, such as
providing the world with clean water and absorbing carbon dioxide,
because the less forest area and receded, where nature stops providing
services which has been provided mainly free of charge. Will have on
the economy intervention for the treatment of this deterioration, either
initiative to provide these services through the construction of tanks
and reservoirs of back-up facilities and equipment be enough to get rid
of excess carbon dioxide, or through the cultivation of other crops for
food that was available in the hands of human beings naturally. The
other option is that people manage their affairs without relying on such
services, and both cases there will be financial costs they entail
payment.
Environmental systems:
Environmental systems prevailing in most developing countries
including Arab states of the system with traditional environmental,
consisting of a number of inputs such as energy and raw materials (raw
materials or feedstock .. etc) and manpower to be the production
process leading to the output of main products and residues. In
economic terms, any purely production process works to reduce the
costs (inputs) and increase the return or in other words, to maximize
the profit that can be achieved by reducing production costs to the
maximum extent possible. This pattern has led to the reluctance of
manufacturing facilities for many spending to address waste or take
other measures to reduce pollution, including reduction of costs of
production. They just throw their waste into the air and bodies of water
or on the ground, which have had adverse effects on the environment
and human health.
