10 Valuable Life Lessons to Learn from Children Posted by Debby Many Nations
The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. ~ Albert Einstein I am a Mom to two awesome boys. They have taught me more in the last 7 years than I could have learned in the 25 years I was without children. Here are the top 10 lessons my Children have taught me (so far): 1. Keep Discovering. Keep Exploring From discovering their hands and feet as infants, to discovering that monsters really do not live in the closet or under the bed. From exploring letting go of what has held them up and finding out they can put one foot in front of the other to walk, to exploring a new sport they were so intimidated by before and finding out they are really good at it. They have taught me to keep exploring and to keep discovering. Discovery can be so rewarding, but we have to be willing to open ourselves to it. We have to continue to spark our curiosities and to stop assuming we know the answers. It is amazing what happens when we approach life knowing we actually know nothing at all. We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~ T. S. Eliot 2. Be yourself. those that mind dont matter and those that matter dont mind My oldest son has dressed himself since age 2. One summer day at age 3 he decided to wear his bright orange bubble vest along with some shorts and rain boots. We were going to get ice cream and that is how he wanted to go. Hand in hand, we went. There were plenty of people there and all of them looking right at him and smiling (some laughing). He was very comfortable with the attention and was more into the ice cream than at the kids who were staring at him. He was himself. To him, it was about selfexpression and it did not matter who laughed or pointed. He was comfortable in his own skin, orange bubble jacket and rain boots. That day, he taught me to be comfortable in mine as well. Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. ~ Oscar Wilde 3. Dance like no one is watching.

Put some dance music on and watch how children react. Most of them dont think twice about it, they just dance. At weddings, at school dances, at parties, they always dance. They dance with whatever rhythm they may have and they dont care who is watching. What do the adults do? They stand around and watch the kids or continue their conversation. I have joined my oldest son many of times on a dance floor full of kids. It was fun, I danced with whatever rhythm I thought I had and I danced like nobody was watching. Dance as though no one is watching you, Love as though you have never been hurt before, Sing as though no one can hear you, Live as though heaven is on earth. ~ Souza 4. Cuddling is underrated. It is my pleasure to cuddle with my children. I enjoy having their little hands in mine. I enjoy feeling their little arms around my neck and having them curled up on my lap. Whenever they want to cuddle, I CUDDLE! It is those moments I treasure most because one day, they will be too big to curl up on my lap and too cool to put their arms around my neck. 5. Keep Dreaming and develop a plan. I asked my son what he wanted to be when he grows up and he said a DJ and a Car Designer. He has elaborate plans on how he will achieve this. He is 7 years old and this dream is completely attainable for him. I admire this and have told him I support him in whatever he wants to do and to let me know what he needs from me so he can become what he wants to be. As adults, we become so distracted by our responsibilities (job, children, etc) that we have let go of our long lost dreams of becoming whatever it was we wanted to be. I understand being an astronaut may be far reaching for many of us now, but studying astronomy is not. Looking through a telescope and admiring the universe is not. You had dreams of becoming a musician? Pick up an instrument, take some lessons and sing away! Show your children that dreams do not have to stay dreams. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. ~ Walt Disney 6. Have Patience. I have learned patience from the day I found out I was pregnant. From those long 40 weeks of pregnancy to the 15+ labor hours with my first and a nice 8 labor hours with my second. Patience is learned early. Patience was also learned while up at 4am with a wide awake infant and while teaching my 5 year old how to read the words Cow, Car and Dog. Although I have not mastered patience, my children are sure to help me every single day. Our patience will achieve more than our force. ~ Edmund Burke 7. A messy home is not the end of the world.

I would not consider myself OCD, however, I feel a clean home is a happy home. I say this knowing my children and the dog completely disagree. I like things in their place, my floors spotless and the kitchen sink free of dirty dishes. With this said, I also now understand, toys are best all over the place and keep the kids entertained while I try to prepare dinner. Muddy paw prints on the floor makes for a good laugh after the fact and the mess made by the kids fuels exploration, imagination and discovery. A mess is just that, a mess, it can be cleaned up and is not the end of the world. 8.Take risks. Jumping from couch to couch, dangling off of monkey bars upside down, rolling right off the bed without the slightest concern of the drop to the floor, attempting to jump into the pool before I make it in to catch them, you get the picture. I am sure there are many more events to come that will give me minor heart attacks, but the fearless attitude a child possess is something to be admired. Although my oldest child is a bit more cautious than other children, the risk taking that children feel comfortable with should be a reminder to us that we will never know the result unless we try it. I am not talking about the skydiving or bungee jumping risks, I am talking about the job change or even that new hair cut risk. Assumptions do not do anything but create a false sense of security or self-doubt. Stop assuming and do it. If you fall, get up clean yourself up and either try again or move on to the next risk you have been contemplating over. Children have a lesson adults should learn, to not be ashamed of failing, but to get up and try again. Most of us adults are so afraid, so cautious, so safe, and therefore so shrinking and rigid and afraid that it is why so many humans fail. Most middle-aged adults have resigned themselves to failure. ~ Malcolm X 9. Fill your heart with Love. Although this seems cliche, the unconditional love I have for my children is something I only found to be true when I had children. It is so hard to verbalize. It is a love encompassed by so many other feelings. To name the ones I am able to verbalize best: joy, admiration, respect, appreciation, reward, pride, anxiety, worry, adoration and amazement. I am so very grateful to be able to feel and do the unconditional love I have for them and am even more grateful and humbled that the love I give to them, they return to me every day. There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life. ~ John Lennon 10. Treasure the Time give to you.

The most important lesson I have learned from my children (so far) is the immeasurable value of time and to treasure and enjoy the time given to you. The last 7 years of motherhood have gone so very fast. The quote The days are long, but years are short is an understatement. Yes, those sleepless nights with my youngest makes my days very long; but he is now on the verge of walking! When did that happen?? Yes, those days when my oldest has an attitude because he would rather play a video game than head to the park for some outside play are long; but he is headed to the 3rd grade in the fall. When did that happen?? Time is constant, the hours pass, the years pass and I am consciously making and effort to ENJOY my time with my children. I enjoy the time I discover and explore with them; the time I am not feeling so good about myself and my oldest tells me I am the most beautiful woman in the world, the time we have a dance party in the kitchen; the time we all cuddle as a family in pjs watching a movie; the time we share our dreams and talk about our plans to reach them; the time when my patience is tested and I get through it a little more patient than the day before; the time I try to clean the house, step on toys and trip over a remote control car; the time when I watch my oldest try to swim from one side of the pool to the other unassisted for the first time and the time I hear I love you thiiiiiissss much and I reply I love you more! and hear back I love YOU more!. Time is a gift given to us, we have the responsibility of doing something wonderful with it. Create memories, give love and most importantly, ENJOY. What lessons have you learned from interacting with children? You can share one of these lessons with us in the comment section below :) Thenille MarquesThis article was written by Thenille Marques. The Dream Catcher Legend

Posted by Lady Spirit Hawk
Long ago when the world was young, an old Lakota spiritual leader was on a high mountain and had a vision. In his vision, Iktomi, the great trickster and teacher of wisdom, appeared in the form of a spider. dna testing, dna ancestry testing, ancestry, genealogy, indian genealogy records, paternity testing, turquoise jewelry, native american jewelry Iktomi spoke to him in a sacred language that only the spiritual leaders of the Lakota could understand. As he spoke Iktomi, the spider, took the elders willow hoop which had feathers, horse hair, beads and offerings on it and began to spin a web. He spoke to the elder about the cycles of lifeand how we begin our lives as infants and we move on to childhood, and then to adulthood. Finally, we go to old age where we must be taken care of as infants, completing the cycle. But, Iktomi said as he continued to spin his web, in each time of life there are many forces some good and some bad. If you listen to the good forces, they will steer you in the right direction. But if you listen to the bad forces, they will hurt you and steer you in the wrong direction. He continued, There are many forces and different directions that can help or interfere with the harmony of nature, and also with the great spirit and all of his wonderful teachings. All the while the spider spoke, he continued to weave his web starting from the outside and working towards the center.

When Iktomi finished speaking, he gave the Lakota elder the web and said.See, the web is a perfect circle but there is a hole in the center of the circle. He said, Use the web to help yourself and you people to reach your goals and make use of your peoples ideas, dreams and visions. If you believe in the great spirit, the web will catch your good ideas and the bad ones will go through the hole. The Lakota elder passed on his vision to his people and now the Sioux Indians use the dream catcher as the web of their life. It is hung above their beds or in their home to sift their dreams and visions. The good in their dreams are captured in the web of life and carried with thembut the evil in their dreams escapes through the hole in the center of the web and are no longer a part of them. They believe that the dream catcher holds the destiny of their future.

Furrina
Posted by Freefire Cauldron
Furrina is an ancient Roman Goddess Who may have Etruscan origins. Her exact nature is debated; however Her worship is quite old, dating from very early times, though by the end of the Roman Republic Her cult was almost forgotten. She had a sacred grove located on the Janiculum, a long ridge or hill on the right bank of the Tiber in Rome; Her grove evidentally had a spring, and probably had a shrine there as well. In later times (the mid-1st century CE) a temple to the Syrian Triad of Jupiter Heliopolitanus (the Roman version of the Phoenician Storm God Ba'al-Hadad), Venus Heliopolitana (the Syrian Goddess Atargatis) and Mercury (considered Her son, possibly Simios) was built on the site, and perhaps because of this there have been few remains found there from Republican times. Furrina was important enough once to have merited a festival, called the Furrinalia (or the Furinales feriae, literally "festival of Furrina"), which was held on the 25th of July, though nothing besides the name is known of Her holiday. She also had Her own priest, the flamen Furinalis (flamens being one of 15 priests each dedicated to the cult of a particular Deity); other Goddesses served by flamens include Flora, Pomona, Carmenta and Ceres. The obscurity of Furrina, as well as that of some of the other Deities who had flamens, such as Falacer (Who was probably some sort of hero) and Volturnus (a River or Wind God, sometimes called the father of Juturna), may indicate that these cults, and the worship of their Gods, are pre-Republic in origin. Furrina's name has been used to connect Her to robbers or thieves, and to the Roman Goddess of Thieves Laverna. Her name is quite similar to certain Latin words relating to that idea, though if Her origins are Etruscan, it wouldn't seem likely that Her name is related, as the Etruscan language is in a family all its own and is not connected with Latin, nor is it an Indo-European language (though that would not prevent it from being a loan-word or translation, I suppose). At any rate, the similar Latin words are furina, "thief", or "robber"; furtum, "theft"; furtim, "stealthily"; and furax, "thievish" (these words are also at the root of the English furtive, meaning "stealthy" or "thieflike"). Accordingly, some authorities consider Her a Goddess of Thieves or Bandits, much like Laverna. These Latin words, oddly enough, are also related to terms pertaining to bees and bee-keeping; furina can also be used of "robber bees", or bees who steal honey from colonies not their own, usually if there is insufficient nectar to be found out in the fields at the time; and forina (an alternate spelling of Furrina) can refer to a cell of bees. What Furrina might have to do with bees, however, is not known.

An alternate theory to the origins of Furrina's name is that it is related to the Latin furvus, meaning "dark" or "black", or to fuscus, "dark" or "dusky", which are taken to refer to an aspect of Furrina as a dark Goddess. Some ancient authorities considered Furrina an Underworld or Death Goddess, possibly through confusion of Her name with the Furies, the Roman name for the avenging spirits whom the Greeks called the Erinyes. Their name, though, comes from the Latin verb furo, "to rage" (which gives us "furious"), referring to Their bad tempers, and is probably not related to Furrina's. However, the cult-site of Jupiter Heliopolitanus, which was built within the lucus Furinae in later times (as mentioned above), did have Underworld connections; several graves have been found at the site as part of the temple complex, and beneath the altar to Jupiter there the top half of a human skull was found, apparently as some sort of offering. That it was considered religiously appropriate to build His temple on the site of Furrina's sacred space does seem to indicate some sort of religious affiliation between the two cults, for the Romans were sticklers for proper ritual, and paid especial attention to the traditions associated with sacred locations. The location of Her grove or sacred site on the Janiculum also fits with an Underworld or Death-Goddess attribution, as the Janiculum was considered ritually "outside" of the city proper as it was beyond the pomerium or sacred boundary of the city; inside the pomerium, which was marked out according to ancient Etruscan practices, cemeteries and burials were forbidden. It was also thought improper to hold military or war activies within the pomerium, perhaps due to the violent or death-aspects of war; and the temple to Bellona, the Roman War-Goddess, was located outside of it. Furrina was thought by Plutarch to be a Spring or Water Goddess, and he calls Her a nymph; a spring was found within the temenos (sacred enclosure or courtyard) of the temple of Jupiter Heliopolitanus, which may have originally been Furrina's (though there is another well on the site that appears to be older that may have been Hers). In late times the nymphae furrinae and the Forinae are mentioned; whether these refer to a plurality of Spring-Goddesses called Furrina (much like Sulis, Goddess of the hot springs at Bath, England, was sometimes named in the plural), or simply to SpringGoddesses associated with the location of Furrina's grove is not clear. Her grove on the Janiculum was the site of the death of Gaius Gracchus, the younger half of the famous Gracchus brothers (of whom their mother was justly proud), both of whom were elected tribune in the late 2nd century BCE. Gaius was famous for having instituted the annona, or distribution of wheat to the poor of Rome; he lost his reelection bid in 121 BCE, though, because of opposition to his proposal to grant Roman citizenship to the Latins and other Italians. Due to the political machinations of his enemies his former popularity soon waned and he found himself on the pitchforkend of an angry mob, who chased him out of Rome; and in the grove of Furrina he was put to death by his slave, Philocrates, at his own request.

Furrina's cult was not only known in Rome; She was said to have had a temple or shrine in the city of Satricum on the Liris River, not far from Arpinum in Latium, about 65 miles south east of Rome. Arpinum (the modern Arpino) is a very old city, dating from at least the 7th century BCE and said to have been founded by the Volscians; the Satricum on the Liris is not the same as the more famous Satricum destroyed by the Romans, which was, like Arpinium, a Volscian town. Perhaps these tenuous associations hint at a Volscian origin for Furrina; perhaps not. Who knows? Despite the reallocation of Her grove to Jupiter Heliopolitanus, Furrina's worship, or at least Her presence at the site, was not forgotten by all, for a late inscription to Jupiter Heliopolitanus mentions the genius or (male) guardian spirit of the site, the genius Forinarum ("Spirit of Furrina" or "Spirit of [the Grove of] Furrina"). Alternate spellings: Furina, Forina; in the plural, the Forinae.

Do Animals Possess a Soul?

Posted by Eileen St. George
By Lee Standing Bear Moore and the Spirit of Takatoka Most people in the world believe in showing devotion and reverence for a Higher Power, God, Creator, a deity or deities. And, most people believe the soul is the spiritual essence of a human being. But, there is controversy about the question of whether an animal possesses a soul. Many pet owners may consider it difficult to believe they will not see their friends in heaven. All animals have a personality, memory, emotions and different ways they commune with each other, the environment and humans. It may be hard to believe that animals are no more than complex biological devices that have no spiritual feelings and when they die, they are gone forever. Are animals that feel love and devotion just a biological machine without a spirit or soul? And if so, what makes human beings any different? Many people assume higher functioning animals, such as dogs and cats have souls, but at what point do we deny other species of animals, birds, fish, insects, or microbes the distinction of possessing a soul? Do rabbits have a soul? What about mice and gophers? How about a snake or an amoeba? A Senior Writer for www.treehhugger.com and www.planetgreen.com, Matthew McDermott of New York, says Scientific studies are showing us that many animal species have rich emotional lives, complex social interactions and advanced cognitive powers. Some even have a sense of fairness, and of right and wrong. The traditional Western scientific viewthat animals are little more than unthinking, unfeeling biological machines, sharply distinguished from humansis being upended. Though that process is certainly far from complete, last summer a conference of neuroscientists at the University of Cambridge, UK, produced The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness. Publicly proclaimed on July 7, 2012, it basically states that animals and humans are conscious and aware to the same degree as one another.

Some religions, especially those believing in reincarnation, believe animals also possess a soul. Some religions argue against the idea. Many people admit they simply do not know the answer to that question.

Is there any evidence to prove the question one way or another? We must assume the idea of animals having a soul is not important to most prominent theologians who avoid or simply dismiss the question entirely. But, that is not to say there is not a great deal of discussion on the topic. Every religious body presents a number of writers who strongly express their opinions. While researching this article, Google returned 7,720,000 results in 2.7 seconds. Amazon gave us 475 books that mention the subject. We reviewed a large number of websites and books but not one produced any significant evidence either way to prove the question about animal having a soul. So, how are we to know? There are no expressed statements that animals do not have souls in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious books. However, many Jews, Christians and Muslims say that only human beings have souls. From my own experience with a local Catholic church, the priests and nuns there believe that animals do not have a soul. But, I also know that other Catholics believe animals have a provisional soul that is limited to life and ceases after death. Another group of Catholics believe that pet owners will not see the souls of their pets in heaven for the simple reason that they do not have immortal souls. Even though the Catechism of the Catholic Church does not directly address the question of whether an animal has a soul, in 1990, Pope John Paul II publically declared that animals, like humans, were given the breath of life by God. "...also animals possess a soul In this respect, man, created by the hand of God, is identical with all other living creatures..." This was the first time in history the Roman Catholic Church directly addressed the issue. Even though the Holy Father pointed to a new direction, many Catholics continue to view animals as having only a temporary soul. According to Vatican author, Mimmo Pacifici in Rome, Italy This affirmation of the Pontiff has aroused enormous interest the world over and has overjoyed many thousands of Catholics who for many years have been deeply concerned that the Church should reiterate and give back to animals the proper respect and moral dignity due to the animal world which is often discriminated against and long been considered inferior to that of men A respected Reformed Presbyterian minister, James Montgomery Boice wrote Foundations of the Christian Faith where he says that humans have a body, soul, and spirit. But he also believes that animals have only a body and soul.

According to Thomas M. Haley, a minister of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church, we do not have a statement concerning whether an animal has a soul or not. However, I would suggest this idea would not be poo-pooed and referred to as scandalous. My personal belief is that animals have souls and personalities similar to humans. I know, I want to and I will see all my pets when I reach heaven All Gods creatures have souls, writes Reverend Haley. The Reverend Dr Fred D. Wilcoxson, PhD, BCCC, PC, a Priest St Luke's Episcopal Church, Cleveland, TN says,".... It is my belief that all living creatures have life (a soul) breathed into them by God the Son and that this soul will return to the Son when that animals earthly life is ended...they where all given a soul, and place in the circle of life. God the Creator of all things may have given man stewardship over the animals (which has been poorly managed over time) but did not leave them here for eternity..." Ecclesiastes 3:19: "After all, the same fate awaits human beings and animals alike. One dies just like the other. They are the same kind of creature. A human being is no better off than an animal, because life has no meaning for either." Ecclesiastes 3:21: "How can anyone be sure that the human spirit goes upward while an animal's spirit goes down into the ground?" Many Evangelical Christians say that animals have a soul in the sense that they possess life, but in no way do they possess an eternal spirit. According to Baptists, there are no biblical references to say that animals will be resurrected like humans. Liberal Protestants, Anglicans, Methodists and Christian Orthodox are largely on the fence but lean towards the idea of acceptance that animals have souls. Uncertainty exists in each church about whether animal souls are immortal. Mormons (1810 CE) are certain about their belief about the souls of animals. Melanie Cooper a spokesperson for the Church of Latter Day Saints writes, we do believe that all animals were created by our Father in Heaven they posses souls. Further we believe that animals existed as spirits, as did humans, before they came to earth. We call this period of time the pre-existence or premortal life The Prophet Joseph Smith said that John of Revelations heard the words of the beasts giving glory to God, and understood them Sikhism (1469 CE 1750 CE) is world's 5th largest religion that believes in vegetarianism and all things are equal. ,,,Sikhs are very strong in their belief of reincarnation. All animals including humans have soul and our soul goes through different life forms until we purify it to become One with God

Judaism (1500 BCE 63 BCE) says that animals have souls but will not be with people in paradise. According to Rabbi Ilan Emanuel of South Street Temple in Lincoln, Nebraska, animal souls are at a lower level and not reunited with God in the afterlife. "That doesn't mean the animal soul does not survive death, but it's probably not with you in heaven," he said Islam (600 C.E.) is fairly clear on the question of whether animals have a soul. According to Counsellor Waleed Ahmed Najmeddine, Everything that Allah created has a soul this includes the plant and animal kingdoms, the mountains, seas and oceans, planets, stars, for example, as each of them worships Allah in their own way. They do not have a free will as do humans and the Jinn. Some people of the Islamic faith believe the bodies of animals will be turned to dust after death and others say after the time of reckoning their spirits will live eternally Over One Billion followers of Hinduism, (800 - 600 BCE) believe that every single being in the animal kingdom has a soul and has eternal life. According to Kaiyalya Jnani, insect life, plant life, and animal life are all forms of human beings from previous reincarnations and are stages in the cosmic life cycle of every soul atman. On its cosmic journey every soul is required to work out its karma to remove the impurities within. Only then the soul atman (the spiritual life principle of the universe) regains its original pure pristine form. Buddhism (543 BCE) has an interesting slant on the question of animal souls. Buddhists believe all souls, including those of animals and human beings rejoin the universe after death and cease to be individuals. These souls are later reborn as someone or something new. This concept differs significantly with reincarnation. As a theme throughout the 84,000 teachings of Buddha, is the idea of anatta that proposes the way to reach enlightenment is to remove self and meditate on the infinite being of God. This means there is no heaven and there is no life as individual souls after death. Many American Indian cultures believe that animals possess spirits from the Creator. The whole of creation including all things in the cosmos are permanently imbued with the spirit of God, and as such, all of nature is One, regardless of whatever form or presence they may exhibit over time. The American Indian philosophy developed thousands of years before the advent of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and most of the other forty major religions of the world. American Indian philosophy may be a synthesis of all these religions with regard to its advanced thought on the existence of the soul of the animal. American Indian cultures not only believe that all Gods creatures have souls, but they also include mountains, rivers, trees and plants and the air we breathe all have souls. In ancient times, American Indian cultures believed that all of creation communicated with each other without the use of spoken words or sounds, a kind of mental telepathy, using a higher form of consciousness through vibration. This knowing was confirmation of the Oneness of all things.

"From Wakan Tanka, the Great Spirit, there came a great unifying life force that flowed in and through all things: the flowers of the plains, blowing winds, rocks, trees, birds, animals, and was the same force that had been breathed into the first man. Thus all things were kindred, and were brought together by the same Great Mystery." -Chief Luther Standing Bear, Sioux According to Don Coyhis, an elder of the Mohican Nation and publisher, The Great Spirit has six things that make up this life force. They are life, love, intelligence, soul, principle, and truth. These are the reasons the life cycle continues. None of this can be altered by man, but we can have access to these powers any time we wish Many American Indians cultures believe all living things have a spiritual aspect and are part of the universal, omnipotent spirit of God. Conclusion This survey of world religions shows there is no rock-solid evidence to prove that animals do or do not have a soul. Likewise, there is no concrete evidence that says humans do or do not have a soul. Do animals have souls? It is impossible to know using the dogma and doctrine of religion. Using logic as our guide, it remains difficult to tell. So, why not err on the side of love and accept all things on the same equal ground? Therefore, because man has the opinion that all human beings have a soul, it would seem fair to believe that animals also have one too. Further, we could conceivably believe that all living things have a spiritual aspect of themselves, a soul. Going one step more, would it be impossible for us to believe that all things, animated and inanimate, have a spirit from God because all things are created by God? If that idea becomes possible, would it not then be plausible to believe that all forms of matter represent part of one huge spirit? In such a belief, all things in the universe become brothers and sisters. All things require our respect and love, even down to the least among us a flea or a fly, a worm or a tick. This concept is not new. American Indian philosophy has held this to be true for millennia. It is an idea whose time has come to be understood, felt and acted upon by all human beings, regardless of their dogmatic religion. For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same. As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity. All go to the same place. All came from the dust and all return to the dust. Who knows that the breath [spirit] of man ascends upward and the breath [spirit] of the beast descends downward to the earth?" Casting simple CANDLE SPELLS

The light and warmth of a candle's flame is one of our most powerful connections to fire - the element of creativity, life and health. Color Color Correspondences White: All Purpose, but especially good for purification, protection, truth, Maiden Aspect of the Goddess Black: protection, absorbing negative energies, Crone Aspect of the Goddess, reversing and transforming negativitiy, removing obstacles or blocks Red: Protection, energy, defense, element of fire, Mother Aspect of the Goddess, passionate love, motivation, action being taken Pink: calm, love, reconciliation, children, peace Blue: truth, creativity, protection, element of water Green: Money, Prosperity, abundance, element of earth, success, marriage Gold: The God, The sun, healing, prosperity Silver: the goddess, the moon, neutralizing negative energies Purple: protection, divination, psychic abilites, change luck, removing negative energies and spells, spiritual protection Yellow: divination, element of air, healing, intellect Magenta: added to any spell to speed results Indigo: neutralize negative magic or negative energies This is just a simple generic candle spell that you can adapt to most anything you need. If you use it, please use it wisely. Don't use it to interfere with anyone else's life. Find a spot where you will not be disturbed for awhile, and will have reasonable quiet. Use a flat level service, such as an altar. If you don't have an altar, you can use a coffee table or dresser. You can perform this spell during the day, or at night. If you do it at night, you can turn the lights off, but if it makes you uncomfortable, leave them on.

You will need a candle, oil for anointing the candle, one or more herbs corresponding to the spell. You will also need your athame, or straight pin if you don't have an athame. You can also use stones if you want. Check herb and color correspondences for the appropriate color, herb and oils. The shape of the candle does not really matter. Taper or Votive candles will work. If you can't find the color you need, use plain white. Carve what you wish to accomplish into the candle with the athame or pin. If you are using a taper, carve the words from top to bottom, for increasing and bottom to top for decreasing. If you are using a votive candle, carve it around the candle clockwise for increasing, counterclockwise for decreasing. Anoint the candle with the oil. A drop is enough. Rub from wick to end for increasing and end to wick for decreasing. Put the candle in the holder. Sprinkle the herbs in a circle around the base of the candle, a pinch is more than enough. If you are using stones, set them in a circle around the candle holder. If you are using just one stone, set it beside the holder in the direction that corresponds to the purpose of your spell. For example, if you were doing a spell to increase your physical energy, you might set the stone in the south. Light the candle. As you light the candle, visualize what you want to accomplish. To do this, think of what you need and hold a picture of it in your mind. You can also use a chant at this point or just say what you want to happen out loud. This is optional, in my opinion, visualization is the most effective. Let the candle burn out completely if possible. DO Not leave it unattended. If you have to leave or go to sleep, put the candle out and relight it as soon as you can. No matter how safe you think your candle holders are, accidents can happen. I have had wax catch fire and cause a glass candleholder to split. If I hadn't been watching it, my altar would have caught fire. ALWAYS monitor your candles, and use fireproof holders. When the candle has burned out, dispose of the wax and herbs. Bury it if possible. Types of candles used: You can use most any type of candle with success. As long as the intention and faith it there, the candle doesnt much matter. I have used birthday candles in a pinch with success. You might find that you like certain types of candles after trying a few. Here are a few to consider: Taper: The most commonly used. You need a taper holder for these. Theyre very inexpensive and work well 4-inch straight candles: These are around the size of a cigarette. Theyre effective and burn out quickly, though you do need a specific kind of holder for them that may be hard to find. Ive situated them in a cup of sand or even kitty litter when I couldnt find an appropriate sized holder. 7-day vigil or 2 day jar candles: these take a bit of time to burn out. They come glass encased and need no holder. You can carve your spell intent into the top of the candle, clockwise for increasing, counterclockwise for decreasing, or you can add a label to the jar with your spell intent. Anoint the top of the candle as stated above. If you use herbs, use a VERY light sprinkling, as they make it more likely the candle will catch fire and the glass will split. I usually stick them in a metal container in case the glass cracks which happens occasionally. They are good when you need an extra energy boost because of their tendency to burn a long time.

Votives: can be used same as above, for a shorter burning time. I do not like to re-use holders with votives as residual wax may stick., so tend to use cheap glass holders (check the dollar store) and throw them out when Im done. The advantage of votives in a glass holder is that you can anoint the full candle with oils and herbs before you put them in the holder. Again, I put them on a metal or stone surface in the interests of fire safety. Figure candles: Figure candles are available in a variety of shapes from various occult shops. The shape relates to the symbolism of the work and may depend on the magical systems. I am not crazy about this type of candle. The image can be useful for symbolic purposes, but check the quality of the wax as they are sometimes made from low quality wax and may crumple and burn out fast. Soy candles: I love soy candles. Most contain no chemicals. I found a particular kind that came encased in a glass cup. They produced little or no soot and burned very clean. I have found it difficult to find a reliable source, but I love them so much I am considering learning to make my own. Theyre worth a try if you run across them. Watch how your candles burn for signs as to how successful your spell may be. Your best result is where most of the wax is used and there is little or no blackness or soot. Soot can mean obstacles or adversity., and its wise to do a cleansing or working to remove these obstacles. Candles going out are also a VERY bad sign and may require repeated workings to wear down resistance. None of this applies if the candle was poorly made to being with. Sometimes the quality of the candle overall or the conditions it was burned in (drafts, etc) can affect how it looked at the end. THE SYMBOLISM OF FIGURAL CANDLES In addition to plain offertory candles, spiritual suppliers, as early as the 1930s, provided figural or "image" candles for special uses. More expensive than plain offertory candles, figural candles are preferred by many practitioners when working unusual or extremely strong spells, because their visual symbolism is easy to see and by carving names or other features in them, they can be personalized to represent individuals, in what amounts to a cross between working with candles and working with doll-babies or poppets. Most of the old figural candle styles are still manufactured. Among the most popular are the following: "Black Cat" -- black for gambler's luck. "Bride and Groom" (man and woman side by side with two wicks) -- red for passion, pink for reconciliation, white to attract new love or sanctify married fidelity, black to cause harm or damage to a couple, blue for peace in the home. "Lovers" (nude embracing couple) -- red for sexual passion, white for new love. "Divorce candle" (man and woman back to back with one candle wick between) -- black, to cause a couple to separate. "Lady" (a clothed female figure) and "Gentleman" (a clothed male figure) often used when performing spells related to job, school, or career -- white to meet someone new; pink for reconciliation or friendship; red to foster love; blue for peacefulness, health, or peace on the job; black for harm or revenge. "Adam" (a nude male figure) and "Eve" (a nude female figure) -- white to meet someone new, pink and red for love spells, blue for peacefulness at home or to bring about faithfulness, black for harm or revenge.

"Male Member" (Penis) and "Female Member" (Vulva) -- relating to the sexual behaviour; white to attract a new sex partner and to purify the genital organs, pink for romantic sex or to turn a friend into a lover, red to induce lust and passion, blue to bring fidelity or limit their sexual interest to the practitioner only or to bring healing to the genital organs, black to control a person's ability to perform. "Cross" or "Crucifix" candles: keys and a book on a flaming cross ("Master Key Crucifix Candle") or four-leaf clover on a cross ("Lucky Clover Crucifix Candle") -- white for spiritual purity and insight, black for personal power and conjure work, brown for court cases and legal matters, green for money spells, red for love spells, orange for change, yellow for devotion, pink for romance. "Devil" -- red for commanding lust and sex, green for collecting money owed or for gambler's luck, black for doing harm to an enemy. "Baphomet" or "Sabbatic Goat Candle" -- red for lust spells, black for worship of bestial or Satanic forces. "Skull Candle" -- black for meditation on death or for gambler's luck. "Seven Knob Wishing Candle" (flattened spheres stacked seven-high) -- burned on seven days, for seven different wishes or for seven-fold strength on the same wish -- white for healing, black to do evil, green for money spells, red for love spells. ***************************** Timing Monday Day of the Moon, fertiliy and healing Tuesday Day of Mars, strenght and courage Wednesday Day of Mercury, communications, study and travel Thursday Day of Jupiter, luck and fortune Friday Day of Venus, all relationship issues Saturday Day of Saturn, for cleaning obstacles

Sunday Day of the Sun, for health and success ************************************* Scent Each scent has associations with a planet, therefore you can enhance the power of your spell by choosing a scent to complements your focus. Cypress (saturn) protection, dark blue or black candle Frankincense (sun) Purification, orange candle Geranium (mars) strength, protection courage, red candle Jasmine (moon) healing, conception, pale blue candle Anise (jupiter) luck, momey, and gain, purple candle Patchouli (venus) attracts love, green candle ************************************ Simple Wish Candle Spell Choose the candle most suited to your wish. Before you start, make sure you will not be bothered. Decide on the wording of your wish. This is your intent and focus your mind on what you want to ask for. Write your intent down, speak it aloud or silently. Light your candle and sit quietly thinking on your intent. As your candle burns down, visualize the energy your will is releasing by the fire of the candle. If you wrote your intent down, you should fold the paper and light it with the flame of the candle and think about your intent as the paper burns away to nothing.

Bind your spell, by reciting a incantation that you have wrote or you can use this one." I call the Earth to heed my spell. Air to speed its passage. Bright as the fire shall this spell glow, deep as the tide of the water flow. By my will, this spell is done." Say it out loud or recite it quietly to yourself. Blow out the candle like you would on a birthday cake and keep the wish a secret until it comes true. You might want to add the spell and the date to your Book of Shadows, so you can see if and how long it took for the spell to come true. ****************************** Candle Magic Spells BASIC CANDLE SPELL Depending on your goal, you will need to choose a candle color that is appropriate for your task. Different colors represent different things, for example, if you want to use this spell to gain money, you choose a green candle, because green represents money (as well as other things). If you wanted love, you would use a pink candle (or red if it's actually lust you want). Take the candle and make 7 notches in it, all equally apart. Using virgin olive oil, dress the candle, rubbing the oil on it from the middle to the bottom, then the middle to the top. Place the candle in a sturdy candle holder (preferably metal, glass may shatter) and light the candle. Concentrate on your task while the candle burns down to the first notch. Burn the candle each night to the next notch until it has completely burned out. Look at any god correspondence chart on a wiccan and pagan website to see which color you want for the different types of spells you could adapt the above basic one to. You can also write out what you want in rhyme and burn it after saying it like an incantation. 3x3 times works well. Keep any ashes and wax and make into a ball as a Talisman or keep in a spell box in case you wish to reverse the spell. CANDLE RITUALS Candle rituals have been around for centuries. You light the candles, maybe close your eyes while repeating a spell or that which you wish for and visualizing it coming true. It is a combination of the need or desire, and the ability to visualize the outcome. Candle burning spells and rituals are very easy to do and to have success with if they are done correctly and you truly believe. The different colors of candles each have their own symbolism.

Here is a table of the colors and their meanings. White: truth, purity Red: love, health, sex, strength Green: money, luck, fertility Black: discord, evil, negativity, confusion Brown: neutrality, uncertainty, hesitation Pink: love, morality, honor Purple: power, business progress, ambition Orange: attraction, stimulation Greenish Yellow: jealousy, anger, discord Gray: neutrality, stalemate, negativity Light Blue: tranquility, patience, health Dark Blue: depression, changeability Candle spells can be very easy or complicated. It all depends on how much time you want to put into a ritual. It can be as simple as lighting a green candle and chanting... money money come to me. It can also be very long and complicated lasting several days with the repositioning of the candles each day. The choice is always yours. The first thing you want to do is get the appropriate color candles for your particular desire. Then you need to anoint the candle with oil. Olive oil will do fine. You need to rub the candle with the oil from the middle outward to the ends. As you are doing this you need to be thinking of your desired goal. Then sit and meditate on your desire after lighting the candles, then read your spell or chant your appropriate mantra. You don't need some elaborate spell with a bunch of big words or words you don't even know how to pronounce. You can make your own spells or rituals. Think of your desire then make a simple little rhyme that tells about your desire in it. It doesn't even have to rhyme. This is all about will power, the power of positive thinking, and creative visualization. If you can do these things then you will send those vibrations out into the universe and eventually they will materialize. FRIENDSHIP CANDLE SPELL Pink Candle Good Luck/Friendship Oil Pink silk Ribbon White Silk Ribbon Cast the Circle, Arrange altar, Invoke Goddess and God You will want to anoint the pink with Good Luck oil all the while thinking of the friends you want to make. Imagine yourself laughing with them, going out with them. Really see yourself with them.

After your candle has been anointed, you may light it. At this point you may call out the things that are important to you in a friend: honesty, trust, open mindedness, humor, whatever. As you light the candle, see the flame as being the energy that burns between any two close friends. When this is completed, take your two pieces of silk ribbon and weave them together. Simply winding them around each other will do. While you do this, think of bringing that friend closer to you. This binding process is reminiscent of pagan handfasting rituals. You are binding that friend to you, making them loyal to you, a way any good friend should be. You do not want to bind a specific person to you, as that kind of magic is harmful since is harms the other person's free will. Only bind the idea of the perfect friend to you. Once you have done this, tie the ribbon to the base of your candle as best as you can. The candle's light is a beacon to bring friendship to you and another person. When this is done, you may wish to sit and meditate on the spell that you have just cast, sending your energies out to bring that perfect friend to you. When you feel that your spell has been completed, then it has. Let your candle burn all the way out and release your circle, thanking the Goddess and the God. LOVE SPELL Light a candle (I tend to use a blessed white tea candle) and place it by the window sill at night. This is you calling out to your love. CAST A WITCH'S LUCKY CANDLE SPELL take an orange candle anointed with cinnamon oil, clove, or lotus oil. Light the candle and say 3 times: "brimstone, moon, and witch's fire, candlelights bright spell, good luck shall I now acquire, work thy magic well. Midnight twelve, the witching hour, bring the luck I seek. By wax and wick now work thy power as these words I speak. Harming none, this spell is done. By law of three, so mote it be!" Do this spell at midnight.

CANDLE SPELL TO STOP HARASSMENT Timing: During the waning moon. Use a brown candle (an image candle, if you can) to represent the person who is harassing you. Write the person's name on the front and back of the candle. On a small piece of parchment paper, write: 'From now on, (name) will say nothing but sweet words about me and to me. By the power of Aradia, so mote it be!' Put a drop of honey in the middle of the paper and roll it into a ball. Heat a knife, pin or your athame, make a gash in the candle (in its mouth, if it's an image candle) and stuff the paper ball into it. Let the candle burn a little while every night for an odd number of nights, to a maximum of nine nights. Throw the remnants into flowing water, but save some candle drippings or ash to sprinkle in the path of your oppressor. WHITE CANDLE SPELL FOR BLESSING Get a white candle -- either a plain one (offertory, pillar, or taper) or a figural one in the gender of the person you want to bless. Carve the person's full name on the candle, then dress it with Blessing Oil or Holy Oil. For more power, you may place a name-paper of the person, or a photo, or some personal item of theirs (such as a bit of hair or a snippet of clothing) either under the candle or next to it. One easy way to do this is to place the paper or personal concerns under an overturned saucer and put the candle on top of the saucer. Burn a portion of the candle every day for seven days, pinching it out between burnings. As you light it each day, say this [Name], may you be blessed May all good things come to you May nothing whatsoever harm you May your heart be light May your travels be safe May your health be good May your mind be sound May your friendships sustain you May you be blessed in every way

If you have a special request for this person (such as that they find a lover, get a good job, come home safely from a war, or whatever), just add it to the list. Some people use a large pillar-type candle and keep it going for longer than seven days. They may make a habit of burning such a candle every day -or once a week, on Sundays -- for as long as their friend or relative needs help, even doing so for months at a time. If the candle is large and it is to be burned in this way, it should be re-dressed with Blessing Oil or Holy Oil once a week: after the initial dressing, you can drop a tiny bit of oil into the "well" or hole in such a large candle just before lighting it each time.

A CANDLE BINDING SPELL Get a large white candle, the kind that drips wax, and set it up on a tray. Affix to it a photograph or other image of the person you wish to bind. Make a ring of sea salt around it. Make a second ring with protective herbs. Some dried rosemary from the kitchen will not break your bank. Or use sage if you like. Fill the rest of the tray with images that represent what you are binding the person from: pictures of your family, keys to your house, legal documents, whatever. If the problem is too complex for images, write what the person is bound from on slips of paper and place them around the candle. Maybe they are gossiping and making your life a misery. Write it down and explain what you want stopped. Papyrus, or good thick paper made from cotton or linen work best for this. I have pinched the first blank page of old books at sales! Use red ink if you are angry, purple ink if you are sad. Wrap the candle and the image with black thread (use cotton tread or linen or even wool, if possible). Invoke Isis and "Linda the Binder With Linen Thread." Say out loud what you are Binding the person from. Light the candle and leave it burn until the wax begins to drip over the thread and image. Burn it every day for a week, until the image is thick with wax. Use this as a meditation device to direct your will to Binding the person. You will have direct results if you have a just reason for this spell. You can also Bind a person from harming themselves. SPELL TO REVERSE SPELLS CAST WITH CANDLE MAGICK Light two black candles and chant: In the name of the Gods and all ye Spirits In the name of Kernunnos and the light and the dark And the Gods of the Netherworld And whosoever shall be casting a curse against me Let them suffer their own curse Let these candles be their candles This burning be their burning This curse be their curse Let the pain they have caused me and mine Fall upon themselves Do this spell for five consecutive nights (as close to midnight as possible) and each night chant the spell until the candles are spent. ****************************** Mix the four oils, coriander, jasmine, myrrh and petitgrain. Add it into the bottle filled with sweet almond and jojoba oil to make the Astarte Oil. Also add the rose water if desired. Carve the figure candle with your name and any other affirmations, dates, dreams, etc.

Dress the candle with the Astarte oil. Give more attention to the lower abdominal areas that represent the uterus and reproductive organs. Roll the candle in henna powder. Burn the candle. Visualize holding the baby in your arms and rocking back and forth, feeding, dressing, bathing, hugging and kissing her/him. Chant: O precious goddess Astarte, With one mind, we call to thee. With one heart, we long for thee Child of Earth, Wind, Fire & Sea In to our lives, we welcome thee Allow the candle to burn out. Hang some fragrant basil boughs above your bed for successful conception. Peppermint Healing spell --------------------------Gather the following: 1 bunch peppermint leaves 1 photograph of the person who is ailing A blue candle Charge and dress the candle with healing oil. Place the peppermint leaves on the photograph. Light the candle and sit in meditation while it burns. Imagine the ill person slowly recovering,, energized and ready to take on the challenges of life. When the candle has burned out, throw away the peppermint leaves. Repeat spell if necessary.

Astral Projection
Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
Reality is created by thought projection (consciousness) into the physical. There are 5 subtle bodies In astral projection the conscious mind leaves the physical body and moves into the astral body to experience. In astral projection you remain attached to your physical body by a 'silver umbilical type cord'. Some people are able to see the cord when astral projecting. To astral project, as with all out-ofbody experiences, one must feel totally relaxed, clothing fitting comfortable, reclining is best. Often a comforter is best over the body as the physical body sometimes gets cold when you travel out. When you astral project you are consciously aware of things you encounter while out of your physical body. Some people can astral project naturally. Others are afraid to remove their consciousness from the physical body and never learn to astral project. Astral projection (or astral travel) is an out-of-body experience achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming or deep meditation. People who say they experience astral projection often say that their spirit or astral body has left their physical body and moves in another dimension known as the spirit world or astral plane. The concept of astral projection has been around and practiced for thousands of years, dating back to ancient China. It is currently often associated with the New Age movement. Psychics often say that the subconscious (or dreaming) mind contains the spirit or astral body, resulting in falling dreams or waking up with a falling sensation or sudden jerk. Most dreams are not remembered by the conscious mind, making the experience of astral projection a subject of subjectivity. Believers in astral projection point out, though, that most ghost sightings often define the ghost as a lucid or transparent apparition walking the earth. It is unclear whether every physical object has an 'astral' counterpart, or if a spirit literally uses incarnation into a physical body and this is what results in astral projections, or if the phenomena is something else entirely. Astral projection also touches on life itself and what happens after physical death. There are two general schools of thought on the nature of astral projection. These can broadly be defined as the mystical model and the phasing model. The Phasing Model, which was defined by Robert Monroe, holds the belief that it is impossible to actually leave your body in the truest sense of the word, and that the astral planes and the physical world are merely points on the long spectrum of consciousness. When a person projects, they actually "phase" into another area of consciousness and the locales it contains. This can be likened to tuning a radio to another station. One of the initial signposts representing a phase shift away from physical reality has been labeled the state of focus 10 (mind awake/body asleep). This viewpoint can be seen as a logical progression of the philosophy that external reality is actually an internally created state The Mystical Model includes a large variety of belief systems and astral maps, but they are tied together by their belief that astral projection takes place outside of the actual physical body.

In this model, a more subtle energy body is believed to carry the consciousness outside of the physical body. In their book Projection of the Astral Body, Carrington and Muldoon detail how consciousness is transferred into a secondary "energy" body (the etheric body) to allow travel into the astral planes. This idea is also described by other authors such as Robert Peterson in his book Out of Body Experiences: How to have them and what to expect (chapters 5, 17, 22), and Robert Bruce in his book Astral Dynamics (pages 31-33, 404-410, 538). Bruce expanded on this idea in his book Astral Dynamics, stating that higher planes of existence are reached through the progressive projection of subtler energy bodies from previous projected bodies (pages 33-42). The subtle body is attached to the physical body by means of an energetic connection which usually takes the appearance of a silver cord 'plugging' into the chakra system like an umbilical cord. Robert Peterson describes this in chapter 13 of his book Out of Body Experiences, Robert Bruce in his book Astral Dynamics (pages 27, 52-53, 84, 397-403,544) and by Carrington and Muldoon in their book Projection of the Astral Body. Kinds of Projection Astral Projection - The traveler finds him- or herself in an apparently real domain, analogous to the "other worlds" experienced by traditional peoples, which have no parallel to any physical setting or to consensus reality, described by New Agers and occultists as the astral plane or "the astral". Environments here may range from populated to unpopulated, artificial to natural to completely abstract environments and from beautific to horrific. Here, normal physical laws often do not apply and humans can often, for example, float or fly. Quality of physical detail ranges from crude, nondetailed and depressing to bright, vivid and fascinating as detailed, among other writers, by Robert Bruce in his Astral Dynamics. Travelers may travel from one realm to the other. Projectors may find access to visions of the past or future and to the Akashic Records accessible from here. It has been said that space and time do not exist on the astral plane nor the higher planes, but no explanation is given as to how forms and entire environments can exist without spatial dimensions, nor why there can be a sequence of events and yet no such thing as time. Many travelers have theorized that people having dreams actually travel to the astral realms, unaware, and, again as reported in Astral Dynamics, travelers have reported seeing dreamers enact dream scenarios on the astral plane, unaware of the more extensive and varied nonphysical environment surrounding them. Some also claim common movements in dreams, such as falling or feeling like you are walking through quicksand, is the astral body in action. Etheric Projection - In contrast to "astral" projection, the traditional understanding of out-of-body experiences involves the projector (or traveler) moving about in usually invisible or ghost-like form in a mundane physical reality the etheric body. This world may, however, have minor differences between the physical reality world we know if strict mind control is not maintained. Proponents of the writings of Robert Bruce sometimes refer to this practice as "Real Time Projection" (RTP) and the mundane world as the "Real Time Zone" (RTZ). From the Real Time Zone, travelers can access "the astral" or remain in the RTZ and witness real time happenings. In Western theosophy, each subtle body is functionally distinct. Since the etheric body and astral body are not the same, according to several sources (noted below), they can not possibly represent the same kind of psychic activity. Alice Bailey, in Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle (Lucis Trust), stated that the etheric and astral bodies should not be confused. She indicated that "HPB" (Helena P. Blavatsky) had erroneously merged the two concepts, in order to cover a "mass of information anent the etheric [and] astral"

The Rosicrucian Fellowship has released several publications on the "etheric region" and the etheric body, as well as their integral relationship with the physical state of being (see Max Heindel, et al). The Theosophical Society, having several branches around the world, also has published literature on both the etheric and astral states. To them, the etheric body is actually the same as the physical; however, it "rests" at a slightly different frequency than regular matter. Lawrence Bendit and Phoebe Bendit wrote a book called The Etheric Body of Man (Theosophical Publishing), in which the analysis of a psychiatrist meets the psychic visions of an alleged clairvoyant. Therein, the authors explain how the etheric body is a functionally separate body from the physical, and yet they share a mutual relationship, all of which seem to be consistent with how ether and etheric projection is believed to operate, as depicted in other literature. The term was coined at least as far back as the 1940s, by Dion Fortune in her book Psychic Self Defense (Red Wheel/Weiser). She details how an etheric body (during etheric projection), once projected, is "sufficiently physical enough" to be mutually observed by on-lookers (pages 20-22). James H. Brennan, in The Astral Projection Workbook (Sterling Pubishing), devotes an entire section of his book to etheric projection and its constituents (pages 17-28). Annie Besant, in The Seven Principles of Man (Theosophical Publishing House) actually explained that the "etheric double" can be separated from the physical body: This etheric double is the exact double or counterpart of the [physical] body to which it belongs, and is separable [from it]... When separated from the [physical] body it is visible to the clairvoyant as an exact replica thereof, united to it by a slender thread... (pages 8-9). Stuart Wilde in The Sixth Sense (Hay House) wrote that the etheric body (not astral) is the "true" individual, and that its function is to allow psychic abilities to actually surface. He stated that astral projection is not at all part of the etheric body's actions, and that it is more a "mental state [of reverie]" (page 102). Further, he said that the etheric body is actually the vehicle used in an OBE, and that calling it astral projection is misleading (pages 102-103). Mental Projection Mental projection is projection of the astral body to the mental plane via utilisation of mental energy while within the astral or etheric to phase into the Mental, or a different process used to project directly into the Mental Plane. The active subtle body of the mental plane is the mental body, which constitutes the intellectual consciousness of the projector in general. The environment is generally highly colorful and kaleidoscopic in nature, like the astral, and shifting consciously. The difference is that even mathematical functions and thoughts will manifest seemingly physically. The buffer zone between the astral and mental planes is known as the Akashic Records, and appears as a library of knowledge of past, present, and future possibility. There are many theories as to why the perceptions of these records and the mental plane in general differ from projector to projector, but the general consensus is that the Akashic records will appear differently, like a computer or library to different people at different times, and that the future is always sketchy and can often change mid-viewing to the projector.

Roman Catholic View Astral Projection is a forbidden practice for Roman Catholics because the soul; containing all reason, thought, memories, emotion, attitudes, and beliefs; leaves the physical body during a wake state, and this can cause bizarre belief systems to develop, based on improperly interpreted sensations from the reality elevated from, and parallel to three dimensional reality. The soul in an agnostic state; that is indifferent toward The Holy Trinity, or Triune God - God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit; is left without protection, roaming the atmosphere, and perhaps some distance beyond this in a spiritual ghetto that surrounds the earth: The Third Heaven. The Third Heaven is ruled by spiritual hosts of wickedness in the high places, which will send demons to deceive those who will not keep to the domain of the world. A human soul, when detached from the physical body, during a waking state, without the protection of The Roman Catholic God, Jesus Christ, is very vulnerable to molestation by demons. Roman Catholics refer to escorted travel in the spiritual dimension, an anointing. Jesus Christ is The Anointed of God, Who, while in human form was constantly aware of All Truth, regardless of the shortcomings of the human sensory channels. He was, therefore, constantly in a state of Astral Projection, or anointing. The anointed of God will prophesy Truth directly from God, perform miraculous healings, order the atmosphere to obey them, stop rain from falling in a certain area, pass through solid objects, and/or become invisible when threatened. Robert Monroe - Monroe Technique Robert Monroe in his series of books makes several references to a "second body", which he says must be "shed" in order to be completely free. Because many of his fantastical adventures are alleged to happen after this shedding, he was most likely referring to the etheric body and etheric projection. Robert Allan Monroe (1915 - 1995) was a psychic researcher and author of Journeys Out of the Body, a 1971 book that popularized the expression "out-of-body experience" (also called astral projection). Monroe was a conservative Virginia businessman who had his first out-of-body experiences in 1958. After much experimentation, he founded The Monroe Institute, a "nonprofit education and research organization devoted to the exploration of human consciousness" and developed a method he called Hemi-Sync (hemispherical synchronization) to induce mental states that are favorable for inducing out-of-body experiences. Hemi-Sync is a system which aims to balance the brain waves of both of the brain's hemispheres or lobes through cooperative processing of auditory stimulus. The stimulus, together with meditative instruction, is provided via headphones. The method is based on a concept known as binaural beats. Monroe gives a detailed description of the "second body". It has weight, is visible under certain conditions, produces a sensation of touch just like the physical touch, and yet it is very plastic and may adopt any form required of it. Possibly, suggests Monroe, the second body is a reversal of the physical. He even relates this to his ideas that it may consist of antimatter, although what he means is obscure. As for a cord, he tried feeling it on some of his excursions, but it was not an important part of his experience. Finally he suggests that the second body is related in some important way to electricity and magnetism. In experiments in a Faraday cage he found that he could not pass through the walls when a current was passed through them,

but when it was turned off he could (though sufficient details are not given to assess the explanation fairly). He suggests a "third force" to add to electricity and magnetism which is used by the second body and fundamental to thought. What can we make of Monroe's descriptions? As always it is hard to disentangle what he has discovered about locations others might visit, from the product of his own bias or preoccupations. Some of his descriptions sound familiar, but many seem only odd. Many people confuse this phenomenon with astral travel; however, etheric travel is mainly related to that which can and does exist, physically. During this type of experience, there are no fantastical worlds, or self-absorbed encounters; the majority of the experience can be validated. Dr. Charles Tart has done many experiments and tentatively concluded that the person may not have invented the experience - unlike astral travel, where the experience is conceptual. For example, in a 1967 study, a subject was unable to discover a five digit number written down and placed face up in an adjoining room, but did provide some details of the activities of the technician monitoring the experiment. Tart summarizes, "Thus, there is some indication that ESP may have been involved with respect to the technician's activities, but it is not at all conclusive." According to Arthur Powell and Max Heindel, the etheric "double" serves as a medium between the astral and physical realms. Ether, also called prana, is the "vital force" that empowers the Physical forms in order for change to take place. This means that when one views the physical during an OBE, they are not technically "in" the astral realm at all. The Monroe Technique Step One: Relax the body. According to Monroe, "the ability to relax is the first prerequisite, perhaps even the first step itself" to having an OBE. (out of body experience). This includes both physical and mental relaxation. Monroe does not suggest a method of attaining this relaxation, although progressive muscle relaxation, coupled with deep breathing exercises (inhale 1, exhale 2, inhale 3... until about 50 or 100) are known to work well. Step Two: Enter the state bordering sleep. This is known as the hypnogogic state. Once again, Monroe doesn't recommend any method of doing this. One way is to hold your forearm up, while keeping your upper arm on the bed, or ground. As you start to fall asleep, your arm will fall, and you will awaken again. With practice you can learn to control the hypnogogic state without using your arm. Another method is to concentrate on an object. When other images start to enter your thoughts, you have entered the hypnogogic state. Passively watch these images. This will also help you maintain this state of nearsleep. Monroe calls this Condition A. Step Three: Deepen this state. Begin to clear your mind. Observe your field of vision through your closed eyelids at the blackness in front of your. After a while you may start to notice light patterns. These are simply neural discharges. They have no specific effect. Ignore them. When they cease, one has entered what Monroe calls Condition B. From here, one must enter an even deeper state of relaxation which Monroe calls Condition C-- a state of such relaxation that you lose all awareness of the body and sensory stimulation. You are almost in a void in which your only source of stimulation will be your own thoughts.

The ideal state for leaving your body is Condition D. This is Condition C when it is voluntarily induced from a rested and refreshed condition and is not the effect of normal fatigue. To achieve Condition D, Monroe suggests that you practice entering it in the morning just as you are getting up, or after a short nap. Step Four: Enter a state of Vibration. This is the most important part of the technique, and also the most vague. Many projectors have noted these vibrations at the onset of projection. They can be experienced as a mild tingling, or as if electricity is being shot through the body. Their cause is a mystery. It may actually be the astral body trying to leave the physical body. For entering into the vibrational state, he offers the following directions: 1. Remove all jewelry or other items that might be touching your skin. 2. Darken the room so that no light can be seen through your eyelids, but do not shut out all light. 3. Lie down with your body along a north-south axis, with your head pointed toward magnetic north. 4. Loosen all clothing, but keep covered so that you are slightly warmer than what might normally be comfortable. 5. Be sure you are in a location where, and at a time when, there will be absolutely no noise to disturb you. 6. Enter a state of relaxation. 7. Give yourself the mental suggestion that you will remember all that occurs during the upcoming session that will be beneficial to your well being. Repeat this five times. 8. As your breathe, concentrate on the void in front of you. 9. Select a point a foot away from your forehead, then change your point of mental reference to six feet. 10. Turn the point 90 degrees upward by drawing an imaginary line parallel to your body axis up above you head. Focus there and reach out for the vibrations at that point and bring them back into your body. Even if you don't know what these vibrations are, you will know when you have achieved contact with them. Step Five: Learn to control the vibrational state. Practice controlling them by mentally pushing them into your head, down to your toes, making them surge throughout your entire body, and producing vibrational waves from head to foot. To produce this wave effect, concentrate on the vibrations and mentally push a wave out of your head and guide it down your body. Practice this until you can induce these waves on command. Once you have control of the vibrational state, you are ready to leave the body.

Step Six: Begin with a partial separation. The key here is thought control. Keep your mind firmly focused on the idea of leaving the body. Do not let it wander. Stray thoughts might cause you to lose control of the state. Now having entered the vibrational state, begin exploring the OBE by releasing a hand or a foot of the "second body". Monroe suggests that you extend a limb until it comes in contact with a familiar object, such as a wall near your bed. Then push it through the object. Return the limb by placing it back in to coincidence with the physical one, decrease the vibrational rate, and then terminate the experiment. Lie quietly until you have fully returned to normal. This exercise will prepare you for full separation. Step Seven: Dissociate yourself from the body. Monroe suggests two methods for this. One method is to lift out of the body. To do this, think about getting lighter and lighter after entering the vibrational state. Think about how nice it would be to float upward. Keep this thought in mind at all costs and let no extraneous thoughts interrupt it. An OBE will occur naturally at this point. Another method is the "Rotation Method" or "roll-out" technique. When you have achieved the vibrational state, try to roll over as if you were turning over in bed. Do not attempt to roll over physically. Try to twist your body from the top and virtually roll over into your second body right out of your physical self. At this point, you will be out of the body, but next to it. Think of floating upward, and you should find yourself floating above the body. Silva Method According to its proponents, the Silva Method (Silva Mind Control, Remote viewing) is a selfempowerment system to shape beliefs, augment personal success and view distant objects or locations and connect with a higher intelligence for guidance. Jose Silva developed pseudoscientific explanations of brain function and its relationship with a higher consciousness in the 1960s. According to its proponents, the technique aims to reach and sustain a higher state of mental functioning, called alpha state, where brainwave frequency is eight to thirteen Hz. The method also uses visualizations and affirmations. Advocates attest to healing, better attainment of goals, ESP and cure from addictions. Jose Silva, founder of the Silva Method, claimed to have developed a program that trained people to enter certain brain states of enhanced awareness. He also claimed to have developed several systematic mental processes to use while in these states allowing a person to mentally project with a specific intent. According to Silva, once the mind is projected, a person can allegedly view distant objects or locations and connect with higher intelligence for guidance. The information received by the projected mind is then said to be perceived as thoughts, images, feelings, smells, taste and sound by the mind. The information obtained in this manner can be acted upon to solve problems. J. B. Rhine, long-time parapsychology researcher at Duke University, coined the term, Extra-sensory perception (ESP). He thought that the psychic senses were an extra sense that only a few very special people had. Silva modified the phrase "Extra-sensory Perception" to "Effective Sensory Projection". Silva kept the same initials, ESP, but the revised meaning suggests that it is a more dynamic activity. In 1953, Silva believed he had trained his daughter to be psychic, and he introduced his training methods to Rhine with his daughter as proof.

Rhine's response was that Silva's daughter was a natural psychic and he just hadn't noticed it before. Subsequently, Silva began working with another subject. This time, he tested his subject first to be sure he was not functioning as a psychic. Over the next ten years, Silva claimed to have trained thirtynine more subjects to be psychics. Another discovery claimed as successful is remote viewing. Rather than passively waiting for impressions to be perceived, a person projects him- or herself mentally and remotely views what is going on in a process similar to lucid dreaming. Alleged successes with his methods convinced Silva that everyone has such abilities and can be taught to develop them, and that it is not an extra sense at all, but an unneeded - therefore undeveloped - sense. Everything happens first in the mind, he reasoned, then happens in the body. A person mentally decides to pick up a glass of water and drink it, then does it physically. Your life is the manipulation of the set rules of this universe, the trick is learning how to manipulate the rules right. The Silva Method is now a multi-million dollar business with thousands of Silva Method instructors teaching the system over several days to groups of students in numerous countries worldwide. The system has also spawned many books, some of them authored or co-authored by Jose Silva, with many others based on the basic principles of the method but spreading into other areas of awareness and application whilst in the alpha state. The Silva Method is one of a number of therapeutic techniques sometimes grouped under the name Human potential movement. Practice Techniques Quiet your mind. Clear your thoughts. In your mind think ... "I'm going to count down from 3 to 1, visualizing each number on a white orb suspended in the air above my head. When I reach the third and final "1" my body will be deeply relaxed. I will have no awareness of physical sensations. I will not perceive any physical discomfort. My consciousness will be focused on my astral body." Now visualize a white orb suspended in the air above your head. Mentally focus on the orb I visualize a number "3" on the face of the orb. The numbers can be any color. They may vary with each experience. Visualize the 3 - three times: three number "3's" on the orb. Your body is completely relaxed. You are losing awareness of your physical body. (3 references 3D or the physical mind) Repeat the visualization with three number "2's." You are into greater relaxation. Now visualize the "1's." You are losing awareness of physical sensations. Your consciousness will be in your astral body. Repeat this using the number "1's" three times. Your consciousness is now in my astral body. This could involve training of several sessions. You may also find audio tapes that take you down into these altered states as well. You getting better and faster as you go along each time. There is no set agenda for how often you practice astral projection or any other out-of-body technique. It soon becomes fun. It is like a deep meditation. The key is to remain conscious while my body is asleep. Different thoughts may pull you from your focus as the mind loves to chatter. Just push these thoughts away.

Emotional Mastery: Bringing Emotions Out of the Dark Ages

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
Our understanding of the Emotional System today is still in the Dark Ages. This has its analogy to the time when people's understanding of our Solar System was based upon the belief that the Sun revolved around the Earth, as it certainly appeared that way -- however, just the reverse was true. The problem was, as long as we believed the Sun went around the Earth, we were limited as to how far we could go in the Solar System. We find the same condition existing today in regard to the Emotional System. Society believes that our emotional feelings are a result of our experiences in our environment. In essence: something happened and it made me feel the way I do. This belief, though it is certainly the way it appears, is just the reverse of how it really works. Remember the science experiment where you connected the two ends of a wire to the terminals of a dry cell battery? When an electrical charge flowed through the wire, a magnetic field was created around the wire. This was demonstrated by the pattern of the iron filings. The nature of any object with a magnetic field around it is to attract to it over a distance of space another similar object with a magnetic field around it. What happens to us as we embrace an emotional feeling is that it is first received by our brain, which converts it into electrical energy that flows through our body by means of the central nervous system. We can often "feel the charge" in our body associated with the experience of emotions. When this occurs an electromagnetic field is generated around our body which attracts to us another person who has an identical electromagnetic field around their body and the same emotional feeling in their heart. For example, if we view the woman who drowned her two children with anger we will then encounter someone, perhaps while driving, who will express their anger towards us. We might think, "What did I do to deserve that?" Now we know. The emotional feeling came first, and it resulted in a corresponding event subsequently occurring in our environment! Because society has the understanding of this relationship backwards, we have not been able to make much progress in the emotional area. Let's face it, although this age reflects great advancements in technology, the feelings in the hearts of men and women are still plagued by darkness.

Believing that something or someone made us feel the way we do gives rise to the concept of victimization. To see self as a victim places the responsibility for our feelings on someone or something other than self. The real problem with this view is that if we are not responsible for having created our feelings, we are also unable to change those feelings and create new and different ones. This dilemma we face creates quite a struggle in life. Although we may externally struggle with different circumstances and situations, the emotional feelings associated with them are always the same -- frustration, resentment, anger, etc., etc., etc. It is as if we have fallen into quicksand, gotten stuck, and the only way we know to extricate ourselves is to struggle. What we find is that the more we struggle to get out, the deeper in we sink. This predicament is exemplified by compulsive behavior. The things we do that we desire to no longer do constitute our compulsive behavior. The characteristic of compulsive behavior is that it is reactive in nature. In other words, we have done it before we are consciously aware that we have done it. Since we do not like it, we get down on ourselves for having done it again. This only serves to feed and increase the intensity of what we did not like, so that it becomes a stronger force within us, compelling us even more to do it the next time. Then we get down on ourselves even more -- feeding more energy into it so that it comes back stronger the next time The more we struggle to get out, the deeper in we sink. To state a simple rule: there is an inverse relationship between struggling with a problem and understanding the problem. Understanding how the emotional system really works allows the resolution of problems without struggle. This understanding is the key to unlocking the emotional doorway to enter into the Kingdom of Heavenly Feelings within us, the creation of happiness in life, that we deserve to experience.

<> Relationships in Dreams <>

The boss relationship can be translated from dreams in two ways: 1. A significant relationship from some other area of life-spouse, sibling, parent, or friend-may become your boss. If someone from another corner of life becomes your boss, it is likely that you feel that person exerting too much control over your life. It is easy to allow constructive relationships to become controlling at times. You may experience this dream in your usual worksetting, or in some nonsense environment. The place where you and this surrogate boss work together in this dream says something about the area of influence in question. 2. Conversely, your boss may become a sibling, spouse, or someone other than a vocational supervisor. If your boss is squirting into your personal life through images of some other, more personal relationship, it may be time to assess your work. Workaholism is the great debilitator of many homes. If your employment is fulfilling other roles reserved for other persons in waking life, it may be time to assess the emotional investment you have in your work. This dream can be healthy in the collegiality it reflects, or as a warning sign for the drain work is putting on your emotional resources. Finally, if you dream of your boss in the worksetting, you probably are stressed out by your job for any number of reasons. Dreaming of your job in general-particularly if the dream is unremarkable and takes place in real time-usually indicates that you are feeling overworked or are behind at work.

FIRST NATIONS WISDOM

....Honor the sacred. Honor the Earth, our Mother. Honor the Elders. Honor all with whom we share the Earth:Four-leggeds, two-leggeds, winged ones, Swimmers, crawlers, plant and rock people. Walk in balance and beauty. Native American Elder Lakota Instructions for Living Friend do it this way - that is, whatever you do in life, do the very best you can with both your heart and mind. And if you do it that way, the Power Of The Universe will come to your assistance, if your heart and mind are in Unity. When one sits in the Hoop Of The People, one must be responsible because All of Creation is related. And the hurt of one is the hurt of all. And the honor of one is the honor of all. And whatever we do effects everything in the universe. If you do it that way - that is, if you truly join your heart and mind as One - whatever you ask for, that's the Way It's Going To Be. passed down from White Buffalo Calf Woman

Go Forward With Courage When you are in doubt, be still, and wait; when doubt no longer exists for you, then go forward with courage. So long as mists envelop you, be still; be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists -- as it surely will. Then act with courage. Ponca Chief White Eagle (1800's to 1914) Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children. Ancient Indian Proverb You have noticed that everything an Indian does in a circle, and that is because the Power of the World always works in circles, and everything and everything tries to be round. In the old days all our power came to us from the sacred hoop of the nation and so long as the hoop was unbroken the people flourished. The flowering tree was the living center of the hoop, and the circle of the four quarters nourished it. The east gave peace and light, the south gave warmth, the west gave rain and the north with its cold and mighty wind gave strength and endurance. This knowledge came to us from the outer world with our religion. Everything the power of the world does is done in a circle. The sky is round and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball and so are all the stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls. Birds make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours. The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing and always come back again to where they were. The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves. Our teepees were round like the nests of birds, and these were always set in a circle, the nation's hoop, a nest of many nests, where the Great Spirit meant for us to hatch our children. "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice." White Elk Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. Chief Seattle, 1854 The True Peace The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells Wakan-Taka (the Great Spirit), and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is known that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men. Black Elk, Oglala Sioux & Spiritual Leader (1863 - 1950) When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money. Use your Gifts . Intelect and progressive drive

Posted by haw
When one can narrow down their conditioned induced reality.. should take time to acknowledge their gift or the Intellect they have and concentrate on them more to use for positive outcome for all.. as Universe people we cannot digress using prejudice of Gender or race or personal preference, Intent is always the base of the Human platform. removing unneeded stress of thoughts and worry and begin to trust in your Higher sources or beliefs of a more progressive future can make it into Reality. do not doubt or will not work. Remove the clutter of ego or perpetuated intensity by an outside agenda to distract from our very own concentration and sight of what is.. not all by what we are told.. we see things and we manifest positive energy to it.. not fear for it or run from it.. but face it with the power of the Universe to defeat all that digresses the human race and all on Earth. Keep it simple . many are being provoked into chaotic existence , distraction which takes many from their own inner power and strength too know we can overcome and will. One has to want it to believe in it. want it for all here on Earth and not just part time.. its not a trend its a reality a breaking of old Paradigms.. make it so , be confident in being a part of that. these people of Earth and all the animals on it so need this. again may not be instant but every little change helps if by concentration and giving energy to positive ideas.. it is one's choice to or not, some cannot help, or do not understand, or even know how.. but let the thoughts come to mind, listen to your Heart, Gut, that inner voice trust in it. You feel a gift you have , you know of it.. use it.. is why its there.. Much peace Shadow
