Welcome to The Italian Farmhouse


Welcome to a real slice of Italy, right here in the heart of the North East. Weve chosen to name our restaurant after the original Italian Farmhouse in Puglia, the area of Italy which runs from the spur down to the heel of the Italian boot. So why name it after somewhere so many miles away? Simply because were not as far apart as you may think. Puglia is a flat, coastal region which means it is rich in local produce, from mouthwatering seafood landed directly at the nearby Adriatic Sea ports of Bari and Brindisi to the rich abundance of vegetables and meats which are sourced close to home. Expect a menu filled with honest, delicious food like Latin mamas make at home every day where the only mousses are the ones you have for dessert and the only foams are on the cappuccino. Sonnet 43 Brew House is our craft brewery based in Coxhoe, birthplace of 19th Century poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning from whose best known work, which features the wellknown line How do I love thee? Let me count the ways, we derived both our name and brewing ethos. We took the love she described and interpreted our way - craft beer. Every drop is crafted with care and attention to ensure the best flavour.

Steam Session Beer - 3.8%


An amber ale with excellent clarity and a creamy offwhite head with a very good retention period. The aroma has a well-balanced malt and hop combo with sourdough and nut notes. The taste is exactly what youd expect from pale malt and Northdown hops making this beer medium bodied but with a slightly bitter though very refreshing aftertaste. Food Pairing: Lends itself to most types of comfort food but also slightly sweet dishes.

Blonde Beer - 4.1%


A golden-straw coloured wheat-style beer. Clean and crisp with a light bitterness and soft velvety texture, this brew was created with aptly named Sonnet hops to give a sweet, delicate, floral aroma. Food Pairing: Easily adapts to dishes with strong flavours.

Bourbon Milk Stout - 4.3%


Dark malts give this sweet stout an almost black body with a tempting dark tan head. Brewed using the finest ingredients gives a rich, full-body and aromas of bitter chocolate and oak, as well as multiple flavour levels comprising delicate sweet bourbon, silky chocolate and dry oak. Food Pairing: The traditional stout style and slight sweetness suites hearty dishes.

Indian Pale Ale - 4.4%


Classic strong pale ale with a light gold appearance and a creamy white head which remains throughout the drink. Complex hoppy aroma due to lots of Styrian hops. Delicate fruity malt taste and low carbonation makes this beer hugely drinkable and sessionable whilst standing out from the crowd. Food Pairing: Suites delicate flavoured dishes that require a strong contrasting taste.

Brown Ale - 4.7%


A very moreish rosy brown beer. Quite a simple brew for those who like their beer mild and fruity with flavours of malt and toffee blending well with a pleasant light bitterness. Food Pairing: Extremely versatile but wouldnt recommend for dishes with heavy sauces.

American Pale Ale - 5.4%


An interpretation of the classic style. It has a pale bronze colour and an exceptionally fullbodied complex character with a spicy and peppery aroma. Generous quantities of premium Cascade, Simcoe, Centennial and Mount Hood hops give this Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet with a fruity, malty and spicy flavour. Food Pairing: Its assertive hop gives a clean taste that can counterbalances rich dishes.

At The Italian Farmhouse we offer only the best quality, most authentic Italian pasta (known as Garofalo). The Italians have spent over 200 years mastering the art of making Garofalo Pasta and today these traditional methods are still used to create a pasta (made from Duram Wheat Semolina) with a surface texture which is specially roughened to hold more sauce (and of course to be more interesting to the palate).

Rigatoni

Pappardelle pasta is an Italian at pasta cut into a broad ribbon shape.

Spaghetti is a long, thin, cylindrical pasta of Italian origin.

Orecchiettes name comes from its shape, ich is reminiscent of a small ear.

Rigatoni is a form of tubeshaped pasta of varying lengths and diameters.
