Raymond Sarif Easmon was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone to the Easmon family, a prominent medical family. Easmon's father Albert Whiggs Easmon and uncle, John Farrell Easmon, had qualified as doctors in the 19th century. R. Sarif Easmon was educated at Prince of Wales School, Freetown, and subsequently in England at the University of Durham, where he won awards in biology and anatomy and qualified as a doctor at the age of 23, and at the University of Liverpool (Diploma in Tropical Medicine). He arrived back in Sierra Leone in 1937. Raymond Sarif Easmon was a prominent Sierra Leonean doctor known for his literary work and political agitation. Easmon became politically active during the regime of President Siaka Stevens. Easmon criticized the rampant political corruption that occurred during the period and in 1970 was arrested and detaine for his opposition to the government.Easmon's play Dear Parent and Ogre, first produced by Wole Soyinka in Lagos in 1961, won the Encounter Magazine prize. His second play, The New Patriots, was performed in several West African countries. In the words of Simon Gikandi: "Easmon's plays are semi-comical commentaries on politics and culture in a community undergoing the birth throes of independence and corruption in the institutions of government." Easmon also wrote a novel, The Burnt-Out Marriage and short stories, collected in The Feud and Other Stories. The story started that Koya grew up with a beautiful family. Her mother is Nga Fatmatta. Nga Fatmatta is a very loveable mother to her child. She do all the things in order to protect her child, but there is only one problem in Nga Fatmatta, she id not a good cook thats why all the dishes that she prepared for Koya is not that really delicious. And thats the reason why Koya enroll to a cooking lesson. Nga Nenneh is one of the best cook in the tribe. She teaches lots of children to cook. There is a situation in the story that Nga Nenneh feel angry to Koya because Koya doesnt want to blow up the fire. Thats why Nga Nenneh feels irritated to her. The other reason of Nga Nennehs angriness is when her precious plate breaks into pieces that are why Nga Nenneh shouted at Koya. And then Koya ran crying back to Nga Fatmatta. On the other day, Nga Nenneh called Nga Fatmatta to apologize on what she has done to Koya. Nga Fatmatta easily take the apology of Nga Nenneh because of their friendship. Nga Nenneh invited them to her house. But the only one whos going to the house of Nga Nenneh is Koya, but before she go to the house of Nga Nenneh her nother, Nga Fatmatta instructed her that if they gave you aything to eat youve just have lunch. When she reaches the house of Nga Nenneh, they gave her something to eat. Shes going to eat the food but she remembers the instruction of her mother. Thats why the food was given to Maseray. She walked inside the house until she reached the kitchen. She saw a drum and when she looks at it, sShe saw the sauce that Nga Nennehs prepared. She smell the aroma of it thats why she tatse it. But Maseray saw what shes doing inside the kitchenand she tell to Nga Nenneh that they caught Koya doing inside the kitchen and because of feeling guilty and ashamed, she go back to their house. While Koya was walking, she thinks that she blamed her mother Nga Fatmatta to all the things that happened to her. She thinks that if her mother is a very good cook, all of these things will never happen. When she got home, Nga Fatmatta was surprised to see her crying thats why she asked Koya, What they have to you again? Koya called Nga Fatmatta and say I hate you! Nga Fatmatta was shocked on what she have heares. I hate you! How I hate you Nga Fatmatta! While crying, Nga Fatmatta hugs koya and said What they have done to you again?

After reading it, I found out that the story of koya is all about cooking. It is also all about the love of mother to her child. I also think that there is a bullying in the story, because in the story the other students of Nga Nenneh make fun on Koya. I also found out that the story is all about the duties of the women, because base on the story cooking is very important in their tribe. All of the women in the tribe must know how to cook delicious food. I also found out that there are people who used to judge other people when they do some improper or bad things. They didnt look to theirselves. They didnt notice all the bad things that theyre doing but they are good in noticing it in others. After reading it, I feel anger to Koya because she doesnt appreciate all the things that Nga Fatmatta have done. Shes not satisfied on it. On the other side, I feel sorry for Nga Fatmatta because shes doing anything in order to protect her child but Koya didnt see it, she always noticed the bad side of Nga Fatmatta. I also feel angry to Maseray and Fate because they always making fun on Koya. I learned that we dont need to always see the bad side of our parents, we must see there goodside. All the good things that they are doing for us. We must appreciate all the efforts that they are doing. I also learned that we need to prohibit bullying because there are lots of children who are experiencing it and this is the main reason of reducing confidence of a person. When Im reading the Koya, I saw lots of difficult words that I need to search the meaning first in order to understand the flow of the story. After reading the story, I found out that the story of Koya is about a little girl who didnt appreciate all the efforts of her mother. Even if it so difficult to understand, I understand it all. The story is very beautiful, very very beautiful. The construction of the story is amazing. The meaning of the story that the author wants to reveal to the readers is also beautiful. The words that R. Sarif Easmon used to construct the whole story are awesome. He used some figure of speech in some parts of the story that make it more interesting.
