! First Stage (Normal)!

The king of England, who is George III. The British parliament and George himself had the power over the whole country. The people separated into lower class, middle class and high class.

Second Stage (Criticism of existing regime)! The revolution started during and before the French and Indian War, which happened in 1650 to 1763, that war was also known as European Seven Years' War. The French and Indian War is one of the major events that led to the American revolution, another reason that impacted a lot is the 'Sugar Act'. The Sugar Act is that the British parliament started to add taxes on foreign rened sugar and when they increased the "taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain kinds of wine." (socialstudiesforkids, N.D.) This increase of taxation affected a certain part of the population. First, it was this increase of taxation, after that, the British parliament started to make a rule that "every newspaper, pamphlet, and other public and legal document had to have a Stamp, or British seal, on it." (socialstudiesforkids, N.D.) As you know, everything costs money, so when people and companies need to publish something, they will have to waste extra money to buy these stamps. That is why the colonists responded this event by force, they called it the Stamp Act Congress, and after a while, the 'Crown' and "the British government repealed the Stamp Act in March 1766" (socialstudiesforkids, N.D.)

Third Stage (Widespread dissatisfaction)! In 1767, a British chancellor called Charles Townshend created a law, which is to add new taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. I bet all of you people know what is the Boston Massacre right? In March 5, 1770, the British troops were shooting at ve American colonists. "The British say rocks and other such weapons were hurled at them. But the British had guns, and they did open re. The Boston Massacre deepened American distrust of the British military presence in the colonies." (socialstudiesforkids, N.D.) Last but not least, on December 16, 1773, a bunch of angry and frustrated American colonists disguised themselves as Mohawk Native Americans and boarded the British's ships. While they were on the ship, they "dumped 342 whole crates of British tea into Boston harbor" (socialstudiesforkids, N.D.) The actions above are the reasons that started the revolution.

Fourth Stage (Transfer of power)! The Americans began to ght for their independence and freedom, the people that represented Britain was the 'founding fathers' of the Continental Congress. They gave America a document that is signed, but it is not recognised that it is from Britain. The document includes the independence of the American colonists.

Fifth Stage (Civil war)! "Americans insisted on representation and when the British denied it, they fought their colonisers." (let.rug, N.D.) The American colonists fought against the British parliaments to get freedom and independence. "The American Civil War was fought between the southern states and the northern states. The southern states didn't want the North telling them what to do or making laws they didn't want." (ducksters, N.D.)

Sixth Stage (Reign of Terror)! There was no sign of reign of terror throughout the American revolution, the loyalists wanted to ght America, but the America just fought back because of self defence. The people only threatened others to keep control.

Seventh Stage (Thermidorian reaction)! George Washington becomes president, and the he brought peace to the whole country.
