OneofthetenantsoftheISMmissionstatementis, Acknowledge and celebrate our dierences and encourage empathy, compassion,understandingandrespectforhumandignity. What does this look like in reality and most importantly, how does this look within our classrooms? It will manifest itself in a learning environment that celebratesthe diversity which eachclass has to oer.It allows each student to bring their own cultural context and experience to the learning table and share with their peers. It is the promo on of an inquiry process which ac vely encourages students to pursue areas of learning which engage, connect and mean something to them, as an individual.Itisaveryrealsensethatallareequallyvaluedandcelebrated and that our students are given regular opportuni es to celebrate and discusstheirowncultureandcontext. Re-enrollment: SY1415 Returning Students: Medical Update

DearParents, Asyoumayknow,foranumberofyearswehavehadrequiredmedicalcheckupsforstudentsatdierentstagesin theirschoollives:G1;G5;G9.Inrecogni onoftheincreasingconcernabouthearthealth,especiallyinconjunc on withphysicalexerciseinatropicalclimate,weshallbeintroducingamandatoryElectroCardiogram(ECG)testfor olderstudents. SuddenCardiacDeathinAdolescents,especiallyduringspor ngac vity,isarecognizedsyndromeandwellover100 childrenayeardieofthisintheUSA.Medicaladviceisthatitmakessensetotestonlystudentswhoare12yearsold andbeyond.Inlightofthis,weshallnowhavetwothresholdsformedicalexamina onsinsteadofthepresentthree. ThesewillbeinGrade1andGrade6.AtGrade1,therewillbeaphysicalexamina onperformedbyadulyaccredited doctorasisthecaseatpresent.AtGrade6,therewillbeasimilarphysicalexamina onbutwiththeaddedcompo nentofanECG.AllnewstudentsbetweenG1andG5willhaveaphysicalexamina on;allnewstudentsfromG6 onwardwillhaveaphysicalexamina onandtheECG.
