n Cleaning the lenses and reflectors

1. Lens cleaner
l

Cleaning liquid:

Change the mixture ratio of alcohol and ether depending on ambient temperatures. Make sure that the liquid evaporates from the lens surface immediately after you rub it: This is the best ratio. The more ether is used, the quicker the liquid evaporates. Method: Use well-washed bleached cotton cloth or cleaning paper available on the market. Damp the bleached cotton cloth with the liquid, and hold the lens sandwiched in the cloth with your thumb and the index finger. Turn the lens and wipe the surface clean from the center outward to collect dust. Be careful not to rub the coated surface too strong.

i) Functions of pins
l

SW (pin No. 1) Used to switch between the INT signal from the video chroma circuit and the EXT signal from the EXT R/G/B input terminal. At L level, the INT signal is accepted; at H level, the EXT signal. CONTRAST (pin No. 2) Used to receive DC voltage and to adjust the contrast of primary colour output. EXT IN B, EXT IN G, EXT IN R (pin Nos. 3, 4 and 5) Used to receive the external R, G and B inputs. Each input should come through a coupling capacitor. VCCl (pin No. 6) Used to connect positive-polarity power. VEE (pin Nos. 7 and 31) Used to connect negative-polarity power. C IN (pin No. 8) Used to input the chroma signal. ACC FILTER (pin No. 9) Used to connect with the ACC detection filter. Y IN (pin No. 10) Used to receive the luminance signal. COLOR (pin No. 11) Used to receive DC voltage for colour adjustment. F ADJ (pin No. 12) A resistor is added between this terminal and GND. Used to adjust the filter s frequency characteristic. AGC OUT (pin No. 13) Used to output the voltage detected by the video system AGC detector. AGC FILTER (pin No. 14) Used to connect a filter to detect the video system s AGC. CLAMP (pin No. 16) Used to connect with a capacitor to clamp the luminance signal pedestal. APL (pin No. 17) Used to connect a filter to detect the luminance signal s APL (Average Picture Level). H FILTER OUT (pin No. 18) Used to output the video signal for sync separation. SYNC SEP (pin No. 19) Used to input the video signal for the sync separation circuit. SYNC OUT (pin No. 20) Used to output the sync signal picked up by the sync separation circuit. Can be connected with a controller with different power supply because of the open-collector output type. The output signal gets to H level for sync and to Ilevel otherwise.

25

XV-CIE
l

1
SYNC IN (pin No. 21) Used to receive L -level (= OV) pulse for sync and H -level (= 3V) pulse otherwise. ii) Circuit behavior

l

ACC detector, ACC amplifier They form an ACC loop and serve to detect the peak of the burst signal amplitude. VCO, APC detector The VCO local oscillation circuit is of Pierce crystal oscillator type and functions as a crystal unit. The APC detector phase-detects the burst signal and the VCO oscillation output signal. The resulting detection voltage is used to control the VCO s oscillation frequency and to form a phased-locked loop. By doing so, no readjustment is needed.

9 Killer detector The detector is used to phase-detect the burst signal and the VCO s oscillation output signal.
l

Picture adjustment circuit The value Q of the luminance signal delay line is changed in order to adjust the frequency characteristic.

* AGC circuit Various AGC characteristics can be achieved depending on the luminance signal s APL. The luminance signal is fed to the filter at pin (17) to get rid of the high-frequency components. The resulting signal goes to the AGC detector to detect the peak.
l

Filter adjustment The resistance between pin (12) and GND can be regulated to adjust the filter s frequency characteristic. External input switch The INT and EXT signals can be switched over by the control signal coming to pin (l).The switch is of highspeed type.

XV-C1 E
l

Gamma correction and peak limiter The LCD panels have the output characteristics shown at right. The curve s variation points can be arranged by using pins (44), (45) and (46).
