JOB DESCRIPTION Garden City School District LEAD WAREHOUSE WORKER-ESC

Purpose Statement
The job of Lead Warehouse Worker-ESC was established for the purpose/s of providing supervision in all warehouse activities; pulling and loading orders for delivery; ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct; verifying stock and identifying losses; ensuring safe operation of vehicles; maintaining an organized layout and safe work environment; and maintaining manual and electronic records of items delivered and received.

Essential Functions
Compiles and manages inventory of warehouse (e.g. food/non-food, supplies, materials, paper, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring
items are accounted for and maintain in operating condition.

Coordinates a variety of activities and events (e.g. ordering/storage/delivery with Director of Nutrition Services, regular physical
inventories of district and site assets, sales of surplus goods, reviews by auditors, vehicle maintenance repairs, warehouse office, etc.) for the purpose of meeting departmental schedules, legal requirements and negotiated deadlines.

Facilitates a variety of trainings, conferences, meetings, etc. for the purpose of supporting and directing other staff and/or conveying
and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g. purchase orders, issue/tracking logs, price quoting,
loss, expenditures, history of utilization, requisitions, pick tickets, grocery orders, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing materials and reliable resource information.

Maintains stock of foods and/or beverages (e.g. shelving, rotating, organizing, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring items are utilized in
a safe and timely manner.

Manages warehouse office operations (e.g. scheduling of route deliveries, incoming phone calls, e-mails, faxes, computer/data,
etc.) for the purpose of providing supervision and direction while maintaining an environment conduct to a productivity in the warehouse setting.

Oversees warehouse refrigerators/freezers and/or tools (e.g. maintain running order, track/record temperatures, requisition repairs;
dollies, fork lifts, pallet jacks, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper and safe running of systems and/or tracking and maintaining accuracy of settings and logs.

Performs personnel functions (e.g. screening, evaluations, training, counseling, supervising, processing time off, scheduling, etc.)
for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved.

Prepares orders by pulling from stock for District and outside agencies (e.g. commissary, materials, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of
meeting delivery requirements in safe timely manner.

Prepares out -going packages for District shipments via computer using a variety of companies (e.g. United Parcel Services, FedEx,
DHL, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring appropriate shipping companies are utilized.

Prepares time tracking documentation using Districts Time Material Account system (e.g. task, materials used, time spent, etc.) for
the purpose of providing written daily time tracking for data entry into Districts tracking system .

Processes a variety of inquires (e.g. purchase orders, report requests, documents, supplies, materials, deliveries, inventory, etc.) for
the purpose of disseminating information and/or materials to appropriate parties.

Processes fixed assets using Districts tracking software - AS-400 (e.g. receiving, tagging, logging, tracking, etc.) for the purpose of
providing and/or maintaining access to items while systematically tracking and documenting activity.

Provides support to secretary and/or receptionist, as needed, for the purpose of maintaining an effective and efficient working
environment.

Reconciles discrepancies in asset records (e.g. physical count versus reported items, purchase orders versus items received,
physical location of items, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a computerized inventory of all fixed assets as required by district.

Requests quotations for a variety of warehouse needs (e.g. equipment, supplies, materials, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining
inventory and ensuring availability of required items.

Researches topics related to trade (e.g. styles, techniques, tools, materials, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing suggestions
and recommendations to benefit Districts outcome of projects and/or establish methods of saving time, money and/or materials.

Responds to inquiries from a variety of parties (e.g. district personnel, outside organizations, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of
providing requested information and/or referring to appropriate resources.

Stores a variety of items (e.g. foods, beverages,, supplies, materials, etc.) for the purpose of providing warehouse space for all
necessary items .

Other Functions
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; operating equipment used in a warehouse setting including office equipment; organizational skills; and using pertinent software applications. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledgebased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: ordering; health standards and hazards; methods of industrial cleaning; and safety practices and procedures. ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with variety of information/data; and working with frequent interruptions.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; and monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 50% walking, and 35% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience Education

Job related experience is desired. High School diploma or equivalent.
