Stay back human; you dont know what youre dealing with!

In the book Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code, Eoin Colfer tells the story of an Irish mastermind named Artemis Fowl II, the first human to prove the existence of fairies. Many may describe this as trivial, but to Artemis Fowl, it provided him the opportunity to become the first person to separate a leprechaun from its gold specifically, Holly Short of the Lower Elements Police (LEP). Described as a child prodigy with black hair and blue eyes with a giant bodyguard Butler by the author, Artemis is heir to Fowl empire worth millions of euros. Artemis meets with Chicago businessman Jon Spiro to reveal a kind of fairy technology called a C-Cube which Artemis stole from the People. In a brilliantly plotted act, Spiro outwits Artemis, mortally injures Butler, and steals the C-Cube. Now its up to Artemis to save Butler in a race against time and retrieve the C-Cube before he reveals the subterranean existence of the fairies. Throughout the novel, Artemis demonstrates his capabilities and describes himself by saying Trust me, Im a genius. As the story begins, we learn that Artemis is in a London seafood restaurant waiting for a meeting with the owner of the IT company Fission, Jon Spiro. Artemis has made a marvel of technology called a C-Cube using stolen fairy helmets. He plans to sell this to Spiro, but is betrayed as stated by Artemiss reflection: He had strolled into the entrepreneur's trap as natively as a tourist down a back alley. Artemiss manservant and friend, Butler, is injured by Spiros bodyguard, Arno Blunt, during a firefight when he takes a bullet meant for Artemis. Artemis saves his friend by putting him in the fish freezers to lower his body temperature enough to revive him later on. This incident clearly illustrates Artemiss abilities since he had less than a minute to come up with a plan of action to save Butler. With assistance from Holly, Artemis is able to revive Butler back from the dead with an ingenious plan. This plan enables Butler to be revived 3 hours after his apparent death, a worlds first. As backed up by the statement of the LEPs technical genius, Foaly, that is one smart mud boy Artemis clearly demonstrates his intellectual capability. As the story progresses, Artemis continues to exhibit his mental abilities to save himself and others such as the kleptomaniac dwarf Mulch Diggums on more than one occasion. After the betrayal by Jon Spiro in London, Artemis is kidnapped and brought to Spiros home, the Spiro Needle, in Chicago. The kidnappers who abduct Artemis are Mulch Diggums and Loafers McGuire, a mobster who is sacked after the mission. Mulch is asked to come to the Spiro Needle for his success in the mission. Mulch arrives at Spiros abode and discovers that instead of being praised, he will be prosecuted by Spiros henchman: Pex and Chips to keep information secret. Artemis helps Mulch by presenting an idea which could save him. Mulch will insult his prosecutors and anger them. He will suggest an idea to the henchmen that they should kill Mulch not just in an ordinary way, but by burying him. The hired muscle will accept the idea and do so accordingly. Since Mulch is a dwarf, he can dig through and escape unscathed. This ingenious plot shows how calculating and cunning Artemis is. He analyzed the situation with the information given and came up with an idea to outmaneuver his opponent. The scheme works exactly as Artemis had planned due to the henchmen's lack of brains. This enables Mulch to help Artemis escape from the Spiro Needle with the assistance of Holly Short and Butlers younger sister, Juliet. This escapade justifies Artemiss capacity to plan and take action. Colfer shows just how clever Artemis is with a comparison: Artemiss methodology was similar to that of American chess master Bobby Fischer, who was capable of computing every possible move an opponent could make so that he could counteract it.

The climax of the story is where the capabilities of Artemis Fowl are highlighted. Artemis is a prisoner in the Spiro Needle and attempts an escape. After the escape fails, Spiro takes Artemis to the research department of Fissions competitor, Phonetix, to steal their future project plans. This idea is given by Pex and Chips, who Holly has mesmerized so they can bait Spiro into Phonetix. This idea is also planted by Artemis so that they can escape. They hack into the Phonetix database, but are stopped by the police. Juliet enters the building beforehand and dials 9-1-1 with the Chicago Police Department bringing a SWAT team, heavy armament, and helicopters. Spiro realizes his mistake of coming to Phonetix and decides to kill Artemis at the spot. Artemis tells how he used Spiros own hatred of Phonetix to lure him where Artemiss associates are waiting. This final act shows how Artemis manipulated Spiro using his own anger to come to Phonetix. Artemis clearly shows his crafty tactics by having Spiro arrested by the Chicago Police Department and escaping himself without a trace with the help of Juliet and Holly.
