Just for Kids and the Young at Heart

-- Sleepless Night Miami Beach has Events for the Whole Family --

Miami Beach, FL -- Kids of all ages will find plenty to see, do and experience during
Audi’s Sleepless Night Miami Beach. For the little ones there are hands-on art activities,
parades with costumed characters, puppet shows and the unforgettable Titanic Slide.
Aspiring teenaged poets, musicians and dancers can see inspiring performances by
their peers. And the whole family will marvel at the 7:00 p.m. performance of The Dream
Engine’s “Heliosphere” – a trapeze artist suspended from a giant helium balloon flying
high above Ocean Drive.

The Audi Sleepless Night, Miami Beach’s free, 13-hour, dusk-til-dawn, citywide
celebration of the arts begins at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7. Sleepless Night
offers unforgettable arts and entertainment experiences for all tastes and all ages, all
night long, all for free. Here are just a few of the dozens of events recommended for
children and families:

NORTH SHORE PARK YOUTH CENTER

The Spanglish Wrangler

6:00 p.m.
As the Spanglish Wrangler, guitarist Will Thomas brings a fun new twist to language
class. His first CD, Spanglish Sing-Along was released last year. Kids and parents alike
enjoy his playful bluesy style that effortlessly combines English and Spanish. Favorites
include “Broccoli,” “Desayuno Boogie,” and “Cucaracha” set to the tune of Earth Wind &

Pablo Cano’s Musical Marionettes

7:00 p.m. (Limited seating – first come, first served)
Miami-based artist Pablo Cano creates a dream-like one-man show inspired by 1920s
New York vaudeville. His seven marionette “stars,” created from a bizarre array of
discarded objects like broken clocks and teacups, sing and dance to famous American
popular songs played on a vintage 1950s record player. Audiences of all ages will be
amazed and amused by Pablo, Fred Ascare, Lady Telephone, Matilda Hippo and the

Artformz Alternative’s GIANTS IN THE CITY

6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Artists from Miami’s artists collaborative Artformz Alternative bring their 30-foot tall
inflatable sculptures to North Beach for the first time. This special return appearance of
the popular sculptures that premiered last December at Bayfront Park during Art Basel
Miami Beach week will feature pieces by South Florida artists Anja Marais, John Martini
and Alette Simmons-Jimenez. artformz.net

Titanic Slide
6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Kids will love the inflatable Titanic Slide. The slide stands at nearly 30 feet tall, and looks
like the iconic ship sinking into the ground.

Miami City Ballet School STARS OF TOMORROW

Two shows: 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Students from the Miami City Ballet School, one of the most prominent ballet schools in
the country, train for professional careers in ballet companies around the world. Their
performance at Sleepless Night is a special opportunity to see these talented young
dancers at the beginnings of what promise to be stunning careers.

Sleepless @ The Library

6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Fun for the whole family as the Library joins Sleepless Night for the second time! From
6:30 – 10 p.m., join the all-ages “Read-A-Thon” or participate in hands-on Arts & Crafts,
including a Dinosaur Workshop with artist Edwin Vilasmil at 6:30. Silly fun in the great
pizza contest with Page Turner Adventures at 7 p.m. Fantasy Theater Factory’s AFAK
Karaoke, at 8 p.m., lets you be the star in an American Idol-type program. Teens and
adults can unleash their inner zombies at the Zombie Makeover Station from 8:30 – 9,
and then compete in SoBe’s Next Top Zombie Supermodel Catwalk Competition at 9
p.m., followed by the Zombie Olympics at 9:30!

Sleepless Night offers free museum admissions, indoor and outdoor art installations and
performances, architectural tours, dance (and dancing,) theater, music, film, slam poetry,
fashion shows, acrobatics, comedy and other cultural offerings, all presented without
admission charge at over 80 different venues spread throughout the city and the 13-hour
night. Free shuttle buses with onboard arts programming connect the various zones of
activity and remote parking for the duration of the event.

The last Sleepless Night (2007) presented more than 130 arts and entertainment events
to over 100,000 residents and visitors of all ages. “It was the best multi-genre arts event
I’ve ever enjoyed here in South Florida – in over three decades!” said Ed Bell, producer
and host of WLRN 91.3FM’s “South Florida Arts Beat.” “Sleepless Night will prove to be
South Florida’s premiere annual arts extravaganza.”
