Gypsumstone is more durable and intended for indoor use only. Statues made from ResinPlus are suitable for outdoor use. The finish may weather over time. Cold cast bronze is a mixture of bronze powder, Ganges clay and resin. Most of our statues are a blend of resin and Ganges clay powder and given a beautiful hand finish.

The Sacred Source Story
In 1978, while serving with Mother Teresa, Freeman Allan came up with the idea of importing clay statues to the United States to benefit the poor traditional artisans he met there. He became friends with a Hindu couple, who offered to help organize the India/U.S. partnership, and so JBL began. Originally, they sold a small set of Hindu and Buddhist Murtis or statues. The very first ads ran in Hinduism Today magazine. In response to customer demand for western images such as Lilith and Willendorf, they launched the JBL Statues catalog, one of the pioneers in building awareness of sacred images in the U.S. You may still see JBL Statues referenced in many books, articles and websites. The name was changed to Sacred Source to more closely reflect our purpose. Liana and Pete Kowalzik bought the business in 2001 when Freeman was ready to retire. After 30 years, we remain true to the original missions: supporting our cooperative of handcraft artisan families; offering a large selection of sacred images made with Ganges River clay content; and facilitating personal spiritual growth.
We develop the design for your devotional image to reflect the intentions of the artist, whether it was created 300,000 years ago or today. Our master artisans sculpt the image prototype, then mold small batches of statues by hand in durable, environmentally friendly materials. Understanding the Hindu/Buddhist Tantra Tradition

Yab yum. Yoni-lingam. Sacred union. Om mani padme hum . . . Sacred Hindu texts include sexual imagery, which scholars believe is meant to be taken as metaphor; a dialog between the goddess and god. The intent of the deities in the yab yum pose is the same as the yoni-lingam forms worshiped in every Shiva temple in India. For some modern Hindu Tantra practitioners, the union of Shiva and Shakti expresses the sacredness of sexuality as a path to spiritual union. Statues similar to these are found in the Tibetan Buddhist Tantra tradition, representing Buddha and Bodhisattva in union.
