Mission and Values

CLIC was launched in 2014 by four collaborators: CPA Ontario, Financial Executives
International Canada, University of Waterloo School of Accounting and Finance, and
Accounting and Finance Students Association. These contributors recognized a need to bring
together students, educators, executives and the professional body to share information about
corporate financial management and identify opportunities for mutual benefit.

- - - - - - - - - - Mission - - - - - - - - - Our Mission for the Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference (CLIC) is to show
university student delegates the linkages between the CPA competencies and opportunities for
aspiring financial managers in Canadian business. We want delegates to leave with an
understanding for how a CPA designation can translate into a career path leading toward
corporate executive management. But it doesn't stop there. Our goal is to have delegates feel a
sense of connection to the profession and to leave CLIC having initiated important professional
relationships with industry professionals and student colleagues from across Canada.

Vision
Our Vision is to create a foundation for an event that will become renowned across the
country as the

The CLIC into Industry Program

While there are student-run conferences with a focus on business management,
accounting, and finance, there has never been one that integrates all of these areas as they are
in practiced in Canadian business. The Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference will
mark the first conference that celebrates the financial executive in business. Students that
aspire to positions of corporate financial leadership will be able to "CUC into Industry" and get
a head start with an entirely new conference and professional development experience that is
timed right for the recent changes in the professional landscape in this country.

Date and Timing

The inaugural Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference will be hosted in the newly
renovated Crowne Plaza in the heart of Kitchener-Waterloo and by the School of Accounting

The Program at a glimpse

The Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference (CUC) will show CPA-bound
university student delegates the linkages between the CPA competencies and opportunities for
aspiring financial managers in Canadian business. The aim of the program will be to inspire
students and provide them with the skills, connections and opportunities to launch their
careers. To carry out these objectives, CUC will feature 4 keynote speakers, 12 industry-specific
workshops, a number of networking scenarios, and 1 integrative case competition.
Friday includes 8 different workshops during which each of our corporate sponsors
will present twice to two different groups of students. The setting will allow for maximum
engagement between students and your company representatives. Friday workshops are slated

Internal Audit. We want to learn about what you do in your accounting and corporate finance
department!

The CLIC into Industry Program

Corporate partners joining us on the Saturday will have the opportunity to run their own
workshop for all of our students throughout the morning. This will give our Saturday partners
the opportunity to showcase their senior leadership as the focus for moves to a celebration of
the CFO and the functions the CFOs are responsible for overseeing! On Saturday we want to
learn about what makes your department unique and learn more about how the CFO position
drives your business. Saturday workshops are slated to focus on the CFO in the Strategic

Interface, the CFO in Investor Relations, the CFO entering the C-suite, the CFO in Business
Planning. Throughout the CLIC experience, students will have a multitude of opportunities:

> become versed in the linkages between the CPA competencies and the roles for financial
leaders with Canadian organizations

> explore the areas for career entry and long-term career avenues, including the path to
becoming a leader in corporate accounting and financial management, including a CFO.

> network with

industry professionals and gain insight into Financial Executives

International

> practice integrating accounting, finance and business management

with the chance to

earn $2,500 in our Integrative Case Competition

> foster relationships with like-minded student colleagues from the University of Waterloo
and other Ontario schools

('('cue will offer students an appreciation of how accounting and finance play a significant
role in an industry setting and how they are crucial to an organization's success. The program
will allow them to experience a day in the life of a CFO and inclusion of corporate participants
and integrative workshops will provide valuable insights, experiences and connections. This
conference will be a great learning opportunity for students and an experience that delegates
