TINGGI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

What is Tinggi Foundation Scholarship? It is a scholarship funded by the Tinggi Foundation and our first year undergraduates in the English language department have the privilege of applying for the scholarship. It is a scholarship offered to our local Malaysian students only. Applicants for this scholarship must demonstrate excellent academic ability and provide evidence of their financial need. Unlike most scholarships, Tinggi Foundation recipients are not bonded nor do they have to repay the amount awarded to them. owever, the recipients have to show progress and e!cellence in their studies. "ecipients of the scholarship will receive "#$%%% per academic session until the completion of their undergraduate programme. For the students to receive continued financial support, he or she must attain at least 3.25 CGPA throughout the whole programme. They are also re&uired to submit their results every semester to the department. Who can apply for it? The Tinggi Foundation 'cholarship welcomes First Year students to apply for their scholarship. If the student is currently receiving (T(T) loan, he should cease the loan once he is eligible for this award. 'tudents are encouraged to strive in order to &ualify for the scholarship. The Faculty of *anguages and *inguistics identifies and shortlists eligible students as recipients for this scholarship.

When can one apply for it? The department will make an announcement after the examination results of Semester 1 is released. The department will make a list of eli i!le a""licants and call them for an inter#ie$ which is to be chaired by the ead of the +epartment ,usually with the presence of Tinggi Foundation representatives-. When is the next interview for selection? The interviews are usually held at the end of February. How many applicants can receive the award? The foundation has allocated 3 a$ards for e#ery academic session. What should one provide to be eligible for it? To date 34 students from the +epartment of English language have benefited from this scholarship and more are to be named as recipients in the future. 5ur first group of 4 students from 3%%6.3%%7 Academic session was the first to benefit from it.
