Director of Retail Footwear, Apparel, Accessories Our Client is a leader in the Retail Fashion Industry and creates, produces, promotes and distributes innovative garments and footwear worldwide. Position Overview: Reporting to the CEO of Canada, the Director of Retail effectively manages all facets of retail operations. This person is responsible for interpreting and executing strategic initiatives, planning, coordination and management of the retail product strategy and increasing brand value and the overall customer experience. This person ensures quality execution in the areas of operations excellence, customer service, merchandising, budgeting, inventory management, facilities management, and employee development and retention. This person has direct reporting responsibility over the retail managers and operations team and indirectly the product and visual merchandising teams. Duties and Responsibilities: Interpret and execute world-wide corporate strategy and deliver on profitability goals by setting a competitive retail vision for store management. Lead the retail team to ensure established revenue, cost containment and service targets are met. Identify how to measure and assess each relevant KPI and plan, implement, execute and followthrough with strategies that provide clear results in improving relevant KPIs to International standards. Take a leadership role in the development of all retail strategic plans. Implement plans for systems/reporting enhancements, product/marketing strategies, visual/store planning concepts, and human resources. Analyze sales reports and business results and take appropriate action to capitalize on strengths and deficiencies of product and market; partnering with merchandising, distribution and Retail Territory Managers to implement in a timely and efficient manner.

Understand the trends that may affect the business such as the economy, competition and current events. Develop forecasts and capital budgets for Retail Operations. Make recommendations regarding store format changes of underperforming stores. Work closely with direct reports to develop and implement ongoing performance goals, improvement plans, training and career progression. Use Financial and Statistical Reporting to improve store performance, budget hours and identify risks of loss. Lead the retail management team to take a focused, disciplined and structured approach to solving business challenges by developing action plans that address specific risks and opportunities within each supporting department to meet or exceed net profit goals. Within a fast-paced environment be able to identify challenges and problems and, in a structured fashion, execute and follow through on initiatives to achieve goals. Ability to use reports and systems to actively and clearly identify opportunities. You should exhibit a proficiency in communicating complex ideas in simple, effective ways to influence, inform and educate audiences at all levels in the organization. Desired Skills and Experience: Bachelors Degree or relevant work experience 10+ years progressively responsible experience in retail sales management and operations management. Ability to successfully multi task to meet the demands in an international retail business. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of managing a profit and loss department with a keen understanding of the requirements associated with strategic planning, sales and operations management. Strong proficiency in MS Office applications and POS systems. Ability to analyze financial & statistical reports resulting from store operations. Strong communication skills - both written and verbal, including the ability to present and sell event concepts. Ability to communicate in French and other languages are key assets. Ability to creatively and thoughtfully manage a diverse group of direct reports. Ability to travel, both domestically as well as internationally, approx. 35%.
