Evaluation of poster:

How effectively do you think the media product employs industry layout conventions? Answers: quite well cause it uses the font differences when it comes to cast and ratings and larger font for big stars, I dont think it has any anchorage. Yeah because the typography is well placed. I would say quite effectively because you have the picture and the subject the character is clearly in the frame with the writing obviously see able and sort of a good si e font! the actual title of the font is clearly viewable. The majority of my results suggest I have employed industry layout conventions quite well to my media product. All of the results have identified at least one layout convention. My interviewee's feedback has shown me my film poster matches quite similar to industry layout conventions due to the image itself and font etc. The feedback shows that if I continue to progress industry layout conventions I can create my film poster to have a professional look style by following the conventions. This will impact my progress of my final draft for the film poster as i can now focus on how i can challenge the layout conventions. How do you think it could develop media conventions? Answers: It could be slightly different te"t layout that would usually be seen. You could develop it by adding different fonts and having more variety. #erhaps the casting names could be put in a different format or a different place but I think it looks quite good as it is to be honest. All of the above results have identified how I can develop media conventions. The interviewees suggested different positions of some of the te!t" different layout or fonts. The results from my interviewees will improve the overall developing of media conventions within my media product as they have picked out e!amples of what can be developed. This will impact my progress of my final draft for the film poster as I# am going to change the positioning of cast names like one of my interviewees suggested. Does it challenge layout conventions? Answers: $o. $o. %omewhat because most of the writing e"cept for the bottom credits are moved to the left of the frame whereas the subject itself the character is in the right of the frame so they are quite evenly matched.

The majority of the results have said my poster doesn#t challenge layout conventions. Two of the interviewees said $%o#. The results from my interviewees will improve the final progress of my media product as I now know I need to focus on challenging layout conventions.

How could it challenge layout conventions? Answers: &he 'ish &ank one Ive seen has a very similar layout to that so you could move round the te"t to make it slightly different. I think you could make the title stand out more by placing it in a different place. #erhaps it could challenge it a bit more by having a bit more te"t overlapping the character. All of my interviewees have suggested some sort of way I can challenge layout conventions within my media product. The feedback has made me learn that my poster is very similar to layout conventions therefore I need to focus on challenging conventions. &ne of the interviewees suggested to $move round the te!t#" in my ne!t draft of the poster I# am going to challenge layout conventions by moving specific parts of te!t into an unconventional placement in order to challenge layout conventions. This will have an impact towards my final drafting. Do you think the font shown is suitable for the film poster? Answers: Yes the colour is clear to read!. Yeah cause its simplistic and you can understand it well. Yeah cause as I said before the actual title of the film! aswell as a few key quotes are put in bold whereas the minor credits are somewhat but in bold but are smaller. All of my interviewees agreed that the font shown is suitable for the film poster. This has shown me the te!t I have used may be suitable for a professional poster style. This has also shown me the te!t is clearly understood by my audience. What ICT can you identify that has been used to create this media product? Answers: I would assume #hotoshop. #robably #hotoshop. #hotoshop. All of my interviewees have clearly identified that 'hotoshop was used to create this media product. Have you noticed any ICT that is missing from the media product? Answers: You could squash the te"t of the cast at the bottom a bit more. (ogos. $one have jumped out at me. The majority of the results have noticed I(T which is missing from the media product. This has shown me I need to pay attention to what can be added to my final media product. &ne of my interviewees suggested $)ogos# were missing" from this I specifically aim to add in logos to the poster. This will have a positive impact to the drafting of my final progress as I want to make sure all I(T is represented in the media product. What ICT skills have you noticed? Answers: #age layout!photo editing. )ood placement and typography.

My interviewees have clearly outlined some of the skills that have been used. Do you think the picture aims to send out a representation/message? Answers: Yeah. Yeah. I would say representation. All of my interviewees have agreed the picture sends out some sort of representation or message. My aim of the poster was to send out a specific representation to my audience therefore I have successfully achieved this and I don#t need to worry about the picture failing to communicate something to my audience. This has impacted my final drafting progress as I know I can continue using the picture and that it doesn#t need replacing. If so what message/representation? Answers: Youth. Its obviously about addiction. You can clearly see the makeup of a black eye so probably sending a representation of a abused girl. All of my interviewees have clearly identified some sort of representation or message. They have picked out a range of representations such as $*outh#" $makeup of a black eye+ a abused girl#" this has shown me the use of makeup in the picture has clearly communicated a strong meaning representation" therefore I don#t have to worry that the picture is lacking any evident information. Can you identify any issues from the poster? If so what issues! Answers: #robably drugs from the title!smoking. *rugs and class and status. Issues of abuse and physical abuse, both physical! drug abuse. All of my interviewees have clearly identified issues from the poster. Issues such as $drugs# and $physical abuse#" therefore my media product has clearly represented the key issues. This has a positive impact on the progress of my final drafting as I know to main issues have been communicated through the poster. Do you feel the te"t and illustration are integrated well? Answers: Yeah quite well. Yeah because it leaves enough space for both of them. Yes I would say they are cause there quite sort of evenly separated but I think it would look a bit strange if the subject was covered any more than it is. All of my interviewees have agreed that the te!t and illustration are integrated well" therefore I don#t have to worry about the te!t not anchoring the illustration or the illustration not anchoring the te!t. &ne of the interviewees feels it has been integrated well due to the $enough space for both of them#.

Does the poster give you any sort of insight into the story? If so what?! Answers: Yeah you could assume that would be the main character and that it would be about some sort of teenage life. Yeah its about drug addiction. Yeah particularly the character itself as I said the make+up you can tell there is going to be some sort of abuse in there and the mise+en+scene of the background sort of dark. All of my interviewees agree that the poster gives some sort of insight into the story. &ne of my interviewees pointed out that mise,en,scene gave insight into the story. My aim was to give some sort of insight of the story through the poster to my audience however I didn#t want to give to much away through the media product. Do you think the poster is effective? Answers: Yeah. Yeah because its easily understood what its about. I would say yeah it stands out quite a lot and the I,& was done very well! I would say it has both employed and challenged media conventions pretty well. All of my interviewees have said they think the poster is effective. &ne of the interviewees said $it#s easily understood#" this shows the poster has been represented clearly to my audience. Although the interviewees felt the poster was effective I# am still going to focus on how I can improve the poster in order for it to become even more effective. Is there any way the poster could challenge the conventions of a professional film poster? Answers: Yes. Yeah. #erhaps the bottom credits could be placed somewhere else or perhaps put in a larger or different coloured font. Most of the interviewees fell that the media product could challenge conventions of a professional film poster. This shows it is quite similar to a professional film poster. This will impact the final drafting progress as I now know I need to look in different ways I can challenge conventions. How could they be challenged? Answers: Ive seen a poster where theyve used the quotes about the film that are used by critics to make a kind of word or sentence, that could be done. You could change the layout so its more interesting. The interviewees have clearly outlined different ways I can challenge conventions of a professional film poster. &ne interviewee said I could challenge them by $the layout#" this shows I could change things such as the titles and characters names positioning. This will impact the final progress of my media product as I# am going to challenge the conventions of the positioning of character names. Is the photograph communicated clearly? Answers: Yeah I think the photos a bit blurry but I think its meant to look like that! it fits in with the

theme of the film. Yeah. Yes I would say its quite a good photograph to be honest its quite clear and you can see the character very well and the representation that it is trying to convey. All of my interviewees have agreed that the photograph has been communicated clearly" therefore I know I can carry on using the same issue as it isn#t blocking any meaning or representation. Does the poster use conventions that would be seen in a professional poster? If so what! Answers: Yeah with the different font si es of the casts and views!. Yeah its clear and its got clear understanding!. Yes they have the bottom credits like written and directed by, music and sound editor as well as production companies and they have the film title in bold so its the biggest thing and draws you to it straight away as well as a few critical quotes!. All of my interviewees have pointed out a convention of my media product that would be seen in a professional poster. This shows I have used the conventions well in my own product however maybe I could challenge some of these conventions such as the positioning of the bottom credits so that it isn#t to similar. Does mise#en#scene give any type of style or representation to the poster? Answers: Yeah. Yeah. Yes. All of my interviewees feel that mise,en,scene gives some sort of type of style or representation to the poster. This shows that mise,en,scene of the photograph has communicated clearly to my audience and that it wasn#t lacking on any meaning. What style/representation does it give? Answers: Youve got costume, hair and make+up depicting the youth with the prop of smoking, with the make+up of black nails and eye shadow. It shows clearly her class and status. &he background is quite dark and dirty as well as the make+up of the black eye, you can tell its going to be a bit of a black drama film.

All of my interviewees have identified some sort of style or representation it gives. The results have shown through costume and makeup it has created a strong meaning. One of my interviewees said you can tell its going to be a bit of a black drama film, this shows they were able to identify a hint of the genre of the film through the poster. This will help through drafting of the final media product as I know the poster has created some sort of style representation and I can look on making it even stronger.

Do you think the poster represents a specific group?

Answers: I think yes and no. (ow economic class and drug abuse. -s it says one of the critical quote says an alarming side of party life and then you combine that with the representation of the black eye physical abuse! perhaps out of control teenagers. What group of people is being represented? Answers: You could group it all together and say youth but Its probably more than that!. -rom the above two questions you can clearly see through the results my interviewees have identified what group is being represented. They have all roughly picked out the same sort of group $out of control teenagers#" $youth# and $drug abuse#" these all roughly link together therefore the group shown is easily identifiable. $verall what percentage would you give this media product compared to a professional film poster? Answers: ./0. .123 4.305. 630. The percentages from my interviewees suggest that there are still things I need to improve on my media product in order to reach professional film poster standards.
