2. PM Intervals = 50,000 sq ft 3. PM Parts = replacement intervals of all PM items has changed slightly. Please see the PM schedule included with each new printer and is also included on the KIP 5000 Technical CD to be supplied with each KIP 5000 system order. 4. Developer Assembly - Mechanical 1. The supply roller is designed using a brush material rather than sponge as in other current HDP systems. 2. Developer side seals differ from KIP 6000 3. Developer toner separator plate differ from KIP 6000. These changes allow for a 25% reduction in labor of PM part replacement over the total installation period of the KIP 5000 when compared to the KIP 6000. 5. IPS location = in the rear of engine which connects to the GUI. The printer has external ports for the network jack as well as the Scanner USB cable is the Copy option is purchased. And the base printer model includes a touchscreen. 6. Firmware the first release printer firmware is K109x01a which cannot be used in any other printer.

Virtually unchanged from the KIP 6000: 1. Roll Decks 2. Mechanical Drive Systems 3. Fuser 4. Inner Transport 5. Drum 6. Main Charge Assy 7. Transfer / Separation Assy 8. most PCBs ( PCBs are RoHS )

Key Printer differences between the KIP 600 and the current KIP 3000 Scanner: 1. PCBs most all PCBs differ slightly in some regard in the KIP 600 from the 3000 2. Colour Enable Chip (Key) a colour chip is installed in each KIP 600. Notes that the optional Keycode must be purchased to enable the color user functionality. 3. CIS the CIS differ slightly Other Service Notes Firmware Printer The KIP 5000 and KIP 6000 have different version firmware. Please only load the correct version for a said model. ( K109x--- for the KIP 5000 and K96x--- for the KIP 6000 ) Scanner The KIP 600 and KIP 3000 scanners have different versions of firmware. Please do not load firmware for the 600 into a 3000 scanner and visa versa (600_yyyy.x is for the KIP 600 and 105_yyyy.x is for the KIP 3000 scanner. Note that yyyy or the version number may be the same for both models) Scanner Utility / USB Driver The KIP 600 and KIP 3000 can have different versions USB driver and Utility Software requirements. This is dependent on the firmware version loaded into the scanner. The USB driver and Utility Software for the scanners are included on the Technical CDs of the said model. If the firmware version in the KIP 3000 is 1.20 or higher it can use the same USB driver and Utility Software as the KIP 600 scanner. If the 3000 firmware is lower than 1.10, than one must use the USB driver created specifically for the KIP 3000. Please see the KIP website to download the most recent firmware for the KIP 600 and KIP 3000 Scanner. (most current is version 1.31 at time of document publication) Utility Version 0.98 can be used in all cases where the firmware is higher than 1.2 in the KIP 3000 and KIP 600 scanner. KIP recommends to update field placements of the KIP 3000 to the most recent version so there is no confusion on which driver to be used in the KIP 3000 but this it is not mandatory.

Scanner Color Calibration The KIP 600 has optional color copy and scan functions. These features are enabled via KeyCode. Once enabled the scanner hardware must be calibrated or color balanced to allow the scanner to copy/scan in color. A color calibration chart is supplied with each new scanner (in the original shipping crate) along with a white balance sheet or shading sheet.

After the scanner is color calibrated, only then will the device allow color scan and closed loop color copy calibration. (Scan color Inkjet target arrow)

Printer Service / User Modes Service Modes structure and access remain virtually identical to the KIP 6000, although all user modes are now accessed via the Touchscreen GUI. There also is no media settings on printer chassis but rather all are configured on the touchscreen by the user.
