UN Resolution Sponsor: Saudi Arabia (Keiran Eagen) Topic: Allowing North Korea Nuclear Weapons The Security Council

and General Assembly, Recognizing that the past resolutions passed by the General Assembly and the Security Council have been effective in dealing with North Korea, Affirming that sanctions placed on North Korea have slowed and sometimes halted their research in nuclear warheads, Noting that also these sanctions placed and agreed to by most United Nations states, have been ineffective at times, though effective more often than not, Emphasizing that resolution 2087 has been successful in freezing vital entities for North Korea's nuclear program, Confident that continuing on this path of action will cause North Korea to reconsider its actions in the past and consider canceling its nuclear program to relieve regional and world tensions, 1. Encourages the Security Council and the General Assembly to consider continuing on its current path of actions to stop North Koreas nuclear research program; 2. Deplores North Koreas past actions and any future actions taken by them regarding further production of nuclear warheads and nuclear weapons used for anything other than peaceful purposes: a.) Willing to create a resolution to lift some sanctions in lieu of North Korea giving up all nuclear warheads in their possession; 3. Recommends that heavier sanctions be placed on North Korea if they continue testing and research into nuclear weapons; 4. Urges the Security Council and the General Assembly to seriously consider that heavier sanctions like Resolution 2087 be placed on North Korea in order to stop all production of nuclear warheads in the country; 5. Welcomes sanctions placed on trade to monitor the goods passed between North Korea and its trading partners, searching for nuclear warheads being traded between North Korea and other countries, also stopping the trade of enriched uranium and other nuclear ingredients:

6. Further recommends that the United States not try to control the operation, for hopes of not angering North Korea in the process, but rather let China move this operation into place; a) If North Korea does place further threats on the United States further sanctions will be enforced; b) If further threats are placed, chances of sanctions being lifted, as stated before, will not occur; 1. Requests that these sanctions be put into a preliminary stage by August, 17, 2014 and that they be in full effect by October, 1, 2014; a) Encourages that these time constraints be used but is willing to negotiate a different time frame if the Security Council or the General Assembly feel a change is necessary; 2. Requests that China and other countries chosen to handle the operation have a set plan by August, 1, 2014; 3. Confirms that these sanctions must be placed no matter the circumstances to enforce the peaceful use of nuclear weapons and energy; 4. Acknowledges that these sanctions could hurt North Korea in the near future, but in the extended future they will be successful in controlling their nuclear program; 5. Accepts that other states may feel that more substantial actions be taken but, the use of military power could provoke North Korea, for the time being imposing heavier sanctions will give more time to consider other solutions for North Korean warheads; 6. Expresses its hope that this bill will help in the fight against North Korea and that it will supply extra time for the United Nations to examine further options on North Koreas nuclear warheads. 7. Further reminds that this bill will possibly lift sanctions on North Korea in lieu they give up possession of their nuclear warheads, if they do not agree there will be no chance of this procedure happening;
