Troubleshooting Scheduling & ATP Issues in R12 Order Management

Kathy Callies Principal Technical Support Engineer

Welcome to Trouble Shooting Scheduling & ATP Issues in R12 OM

This presentation is intended to provide functional users and support engineers with information and tools to trouble shoot Scheduling & ATP issues in Order Management. A couple of quick definitions: The Scheduling process in OM passes data to the ATP process which determines the availability of a product and returns the 'Schedule Ship Date' for the line item. This process is invoked even if you are not using ATP, since this is the process that checks to determine the status and availability of an item. ATP stands for 'Available to Promise'. ATP is the quantity of current on-hand stock, outstanding receipts and planned production that has not already been committed to sales orders or other sources of demand.

What will be Covered

Setups that affect ATP/Scheduling Profile Options that affect ATP/Scheduling System Parameters that affect ATP/Scheduling How to capture OM Debug and ATP Session files for trouble shooting Common ATP Issues in OM R12 Enhancements Important notes

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Item attributes for ATP in Inventory > OM tab

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Transaction Type: Scheduling Level & Auto Schedule: Shipping tab - (optional)

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Defaulting Rules: Latest Schedule Limit
Latest Schedule Limit + Request Date = Latest Acceptable Date on the line: (optional)

10

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Defaulting rules: Order Date Type (Ship/Arrival)
If Ship: SSD = Request Date If Arrival: SAD = SSD + lead time

11

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Define ATP Rules: INV > Setup > Rules > ATP

12

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Assign ATP Rules to Item or Org:
INV > Setup > Org > Parameters > ATP, Pick, Item-Sourcing tab

13

Setups for ATP/Scheduling

Run Data Collection: By running the Data Collection program, the data necessary to give a complete picture of availability are transferred from the Source ERP tables to the Destination APS tables which reside in the MSC schema. Data Collection should run without failure, but can complete with a warning. Warnings can be ignored as they will not affect ATP from OM. OM > Scheduling > ATP Data Collection See related Notes: Note 401158.1 - How to Set Up Data Collection for OM ATP Availability Note 145419.1 - How to Setup & Run Data Collection
14

Profile options affect ATP/Scheduling

INV: Capable to Promise Controls how ATP is calculated: If you license ASCP (Advanced Supply Chain Planner) and want to use planning output, choose ATP/CTP based on Planning Output. If you are not licensed for ASCP but want to calculate ATP, choose ATP based on Collected Data. OM: Authorized To Override ATP Allows user to check the Override ATP flag on the line, and override the Schedule ship date or Arrival date

15

Profile options affect ATP/Scheduling

OM: AutoSchedule Controls display of the Availability pop-up window when the sales order form is opened and whether scheduling occurs automatically as each line is saved. (Yes/No) OM: Delay Scheduling Controls whether scheduling of a line is performed only when changes are committed to the database, or when you simply navigate out of the line. (Yes/No) OM: Schedule ATO Item Without BOM new in R12. Option to schedule ATO items even without a Bill of Materials (BOM) attached to the ATO item .(Yes/No)
16

Profile options affect ATP/Scheduling

OM: Scheduling Role Controls the access to the Scheduling tab in the Order Organizer form for scheduling across multiple orders. OM: Auto Push Group Date Controls rescheduling when adding a new line to a ship set or configuration. MRP: Calculate Supply Demand - Set to 'Yes' to enable the ATP Supply/Demand screen from the Availability pop-up window in sales order form. MSC: Use Shipping/Receiving Calendar - Set to Yes if you want to use any shipping, receiving, or carrier calendar for planning/scheduling. When set to No, only the Org manufacturing calendar is used for ATP/Scheduling.

17

OM System Parameter settings that affect ATP/Scheduling

Latest Acceptable Date: Honor the Latest Acceptable Date, Ignore the Latest Acceptable Date with warning, Ignore the Latest Acceptable Date without warning Promise Date Setup: First Request Date, First Schedule Ship/ Arrival Date, Manual Entry, Request Date, Schedule Ship / Arrival Date Reschedule with Request Date Change: Yes/No Reschedule with Ship Method Change: Yes/No

18

System Parameters that affect ATP/Scheduling

Profile options moved to System Parameters on R12: Reservation Time Fence: Controls automatic reservation during scheduling. Value is number of days into the future that scheduling will reserve. Schedule Line On Hold: Yes/No New on Release 12.1.3: OM: Auto Schedule Sets: To improve performance and accuracy in ship-set scheduling, you can delay scheduling lines automatically when you add them to a new ship or arrival set. You can schedule the lines manually whenever it is required. (Yes/No)
19

How to capture OM Debug and ATP session files

Note 122372.1 - Getting ATP Inquiry Debug Files Note 121054.1 - How to generate OM Debug Set profile options at user level: MSC: ATP Debug Mode = Debug Only OM: Debug Level = 5 Turn on OM Debug (Tools > Debug) in SO form Reproduce scheduling issue or error Turn off OM Debug (Tools > Debug) exit SO form ATP Session file is captured during scheduling action Reset MSC:ATP Debug Mode = null
20

How to capture OM Debug and ATP session files

Retrieve the OM Debug and ATP Session Files: OM Debug: Navigate in Order Management: Run Request > Diagnostics: OM Debug File Retrieval > Enter Debug file name (file name always begins with the lower case letter el' (not the number '1'). For example: l2045076.dbg ATP Session file will be located in the last directory in sql results: select value from v$parameter where name like 'utl%file%'; (file name will be in the format of: session-99999)

25

Common ATP/Scheduling issues/errors

Calendar errors Verify the workday calendar used for the Org: Shipping > Setup > Org Parameters > Calendar

26

ATP/Scheduling Calendar issues

Verify Org calendar is current & rebuilt if there were any changes: Shipping > Setup > Calendar > Enter See workday calendar is 5 on, 2 off (weekend)

27

ATP/Scheduling Calendar issues

If MSC: Use Shipping/Receiving Calendar = Yes, check for Shipping calendar that overrides Org calendar: Shipping > Setup > Calendar > Assign

28

ATP/Scheduling Calendar issues:

Calendar used for ATP is setup to ship: 7 days a week 0 days off

29

Common ATP/Scheduling issues/errors

Cannot meet request date or latest acceptable date Check defaulting rule for Latest Schedule Limit on order header. Latest Acceptable Date = Latest Schedule Limit + Request Date. Latest Schedule Limit is a numeric value (60,90,300, etc.) and can be setup in defaulting rule as a constant or default from customer record. Check setting for system parameter Latest Acceptable Date. If there is quantity on hand for the Request Date, then check if ATP Data Collection request is running without error on a regular basis. If yes, capture OM Debug and ATP session file for further analysis.
30

Common ATP/Scheduling issues/errors

Scheduling failed. Try ATP Again Later ATP Data Collection is currently running or failed. Schedule Ship Date is updated when change is made on line: Check system parameters: Reschedule with Request Date change Reschedule with Ship Method change Note 445044.1 - Why does updating ordered quantity trigger reschedule action? Lists the fields that if changed, will trigger rescheduling the line.

31

Common ATP/Scheduling issues/errors

Incorrect Schedule Ship Date calculated Check related setups, system parameters, profile options. Verify that Data Collections is running without error. Capture OM Debug and ATP Session file for analysis. Incorrect Schedule Arrival Date - Note 262124.1 (Setup Intransit Lead Time to Use with ATP Inquiries)
Be sure to follow all steps, including running Shipping Interfaces and Data Collection at the end.

Scheduling Failed. No APS instance defined. Data Collection is not setup and running regularly. Set APS instance and run collections (Note 421069.1)

My Oracle Support Search Top 5

1. 2. 3. Find and use the name of the form, report, or concurrent program whenever possible. Doc Id 121916.1 Use exact error strings and the name of the code to get the best search results. For example, 'ORA-1400: mandatory (NOT NULL) column'. Refine your search results to fit the situation and narrow your results. On the right side of the search results, you'll see a number of Refine Search options. Here you may narrow the search results by Product Category, Task/Intent, Document Type, and Updated (date range). Avoid entering full sentences with punctuation that describe your issue, and remove unnecessary words and characters that may unintentionally restrict search results from being returned. This includes words similar to "the", "and", and with" and symbols like number(#), dashes(-), colons(:), semi-colons(;), etc. Recommended Links, Support Recommended, and Targeted notes are documents identified by Oracle Support Services to specifically address issues based on the keywords, navigation, or service request templates you select.
