Western Mass. Ad Club Announces 2014 ADDY Award Winners!


WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA-- The Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts (ACWM) is pleased to announce the winners of this years coveted American Advertising Award competition honoring creative excellence in advertising. All entrants in the annual competition were honored during the 2014 Awards Gala, sponsored by The Republican, Baystate Health, MassLive.com, Reminder Publications, Jewish Geriatric Services, BRIGADE, Bassette Company and RTH Group, East Longmeadow, on Thursday, March 20, at the Community Music School of Springfields Robyn Newhouse Hall. Formerly known as the ADDY Awards competition in which more than 40,000 entries compete at three different levels, (local/district/national) the annual program was renamed this year because the competition is a celebration of the best of the best in American advertising at every level. The actual awards, which will continue to be called ADDYs, recognize advertising excellence in all media including print, electronic, digital, and public service advertising. Fifty-two entries were judged this year from agencies, companies, and individuals in western Massachusetts and the New England region. All entries will be on display at the gala. 52 percent of all entries judged were awarded with six Gold, nine Silver, eight Bronze and two Judges Choice awards presented. The Best of Show ADDY was awarded to Bauza & Associates for Anti-Tobacco Prevention in the category of PUBLIC SERVICE, Single Medium Campaign done for the Department of Public Health anti-Tobacco Prevention. Two Judges Choice awards were also presented. Judge Corey Hudgins awarded George Pouridas for We Want Your body done for De Marchin, an entry in the category Integrated Campaign, Consumer Local. The campaign included magazine, outdoor and interactive components. Judge Matt Fera awarded Ticket Software, LLC for TicketNetowrk Road to Oz done for TicketNetwork, a Silver ADDY winner in the category Collateral Material Campaign. The AAA competition is a three-tier national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

About the American Advertising Awards The American Advertising Awards are the advertising industrys largest and most representative competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence. Conducted annually by the AAF, the competition is a three-tier national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets. Local winners then compete against other winners within their regions in one of 14 District competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the national/international American Advertising Awards competition. Selection of the most creative entry in each category is made using a scoring process in which a panel of judges evaluates all creative dimensions of every entry. In each category, a Gold ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the competition. Entries that are also considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive Silver ADDYs. The number of awards given in each category is determined by the judges, based on the relative quality of work in that category. Gold and Silver winners advance to the district competition.
