EDITURA DIDACTIC I PEDAGOGIC, R.A. - BUCURETI,

2002

The present course addresses the pupils in the 3"* grade. It contains 21 lessons based on the communicative approach to teaching English. Each lesson starts with a detailed picture that can be exploited by the teacher for the presentation of the new language during the lead-in stage. The text that follows enlarges the context provided by the picture and offers the pupils a meaningful opportunity to listen to the teacher's voice and repeat, thus reinforcing the link between the oral and the written form of the language. The "Let's learn" box underlines the main focus of the lesson in terms of structure. There is a variety of exercises that are meant to provide opportunities for practice, from controlled to freer activities. The lessons include personalised activities that place the pupil and his real life in the centre of the learning context. The activities based on information gap offer realistic situations for practising the language. The revision lessons aim at reinforcing the pupils' key language and skills by providing both accuracy-focused activities and new contexts for freer practice. Taking into account the age of the students and their psychological characteristics, the book contains plenty of songs and poems, adding to the lessons an element of fun that we hope will motivate the children even

more. There is an annex to the lessons that contains the notes to the songs, the pupil B part of the info gap activities as well as the scripts to the listening activities. The other annex contains supplementary poems for school festivals. They are followed by a picture presentation of the alphabet and by picture cards to be used for vocabulary games. The book ends with an English - Romanian glossary. Ateacher's guide and an activity book accompany the pupil's book.

January Now is here A fine new start For a whole year. The snow comes down In the dark of the night. When we awake The world is white. In January When there's snow. We get our sledges And away we go.
Bunnies

Bunnies are brown. Bunnies are white, . ^ Bunnies are always, C *' An Easter delight. ^"^^ . Bunnies are cuddly. The large and the small. But I like chocolate ones The best of all.
Hop, Hop, Hop

Orange is a carrot, Yellow is a pear. Green is the grass, And brown is a bear. Purple is a plum, Blue is the sky, ^ Black is a witch's hat, And red is a cherry pie.
T h e Smell of Christmas

Umm, the smell of Christmas Is everywhere I go, Evergreens and holly. And pretty mistletoe. Gingerbread and cookies. And fresh pumpkin pie. Smoke is in the chimney, Curling to the sky.
