Mission of Incarnation
yad yad hi dharmasya glnir bhavati bhrata abhyutthnam adharmasya tadtmna sjmy aham
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion at that time I descend Myself. [BG 4.7]
paritrya sdhn vinya ca duktm dharma-sasthpanrthya sambhavmi yuge yuge
To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium. [BG 4.8] In every incarnation, the Supreme Personality of Godhead has a particular mission to execute. a. c. To deliver the Pious To establish the principles of religion
Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Ajan, in the province of Gay, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist. [SB 1.3.24]
Prediction of Kalki:
athsau yuga-sandhyy dasyu-pryeu rjasu janit viu-yaaso nmn kalkir jagat-pati
Thereafter, at the conjunction of two yugas, the Lord of the creation will take His birth as the Kalki incarnation and become the son of Viu Ya. At this time the rulers of the earth will have degenerated into plunderers. [SB 1.3.25] In order to guard against the invention of unauthorized incarnations of God by the fanciful, less intelligent persons, the name of the father of the bona fide incarnation is also mentioned in the authorized revealed scriptures. No one, therefore, can be accepted as an incarnation of the Lord if his father's name, as well as the name of the village or place in which he appears, is not mentioned by the authorized scriptures. A sane man, therefore, does not accept any cheap edition of an incarnation without reference to the authorized scriptures. The incarnations of God are known in terms of the authentic stras and not on the popular votes as it is the practice amongst the foolish fanatics.
b. Marginal Characteristics (taastha-lakaa) i.e. knowledge of His activities All the incarnations of Ka should be understood in this way. Lord r Caitanya Mahprabhu, who appears in Kali-yuga, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He never asserted Himself as such. On the contrary, whenever r Caitanya Mahprabhu was addressed as being as good as Ka,
He blocked His ears with His hands, denying His identity with Ka, because He was playing the part of a devotee. By the evidence of stra, Santana Gosvm detected Lord Caitanya Mahprabhu to be a direct incarnation of Ka, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, although Lord Caitanya never disclosed the fact. It was not ordinary men who accepted r Caitanya Mahprabhu as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In the beginning His identity was ascertained by learned scholars like Nlmbara Cakravart, and later all His activities were confirmed by the six Gosvms, especially rla Jva Gosvm and rla Rpa Gosvm, and many other learned scholars, with evidence from the stra.
In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Ka. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Ka Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions. [SB 11.5.32] The sage Vaiampyana (Vysa-deva) included His name in the Viu-sahasranma.
suvara-varo hemgo varga candangad sannysa-kc chama nto nih-nti-paryaa
In His early pastimes He appears as a householder with a golden complexion. His limbs are beautiful, and His body, smeared with the pulp of sandalwood, seems like molten gold. In His later pastimes He accepts the sannysa order,
and He is equipoised and peaceful. He is the highest abode of peace and devotion, for He silences the impersonalist nondevotees.
In the age of Kali, however, You do not assert Yourself as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and therefore You are known as Triyuga, or the Lord who appears in three yugas. [SB 7.9.38]

I shall advent in the form of a Brahmana devotee and I shall hide my factual identity. I shall deliver all the worlds. [Narada Purana]
In the seventh manvantara, in the beginning of the Kali-Yuga, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will, accompanied by His own associates, descend in a golden form to the earth. He will teach the chanting of His own names. [Atharva Veda - Purusa-Bodini-Upanisad] Further, in Atharva Veda the Lord says:
itotham krta sannyaso'vatarisyami sa-guno nirvedo niskamo bhu-girvanas tira-atho' lakanandayah kalau catuh-sahasrabdhopari panca-sahasrabhyantare gaura-varno dirghangah sarva-laksana-yukta isvara prarthito nija-rasasvado bhakta-rupo misrakhyo vidita-yogah syam
I will descend on the earth after the passage of four thousand years in the KaliAge, and before the passage of five thousand years.

I will have all auspicious signs. I will be a devotee, practicing bhakti yoga. I will taste the rasa of My own devotional service. In Sama Veda we get the following reference:

I shall come to the earth, accompanied by My associates, in a place by the bank of the Ganges. I will advent to save the people who are afflicted and devoured by the sins of the age of Kali. I will manifest as an Avadhut Brahman Sannyasi.

I will take birth as the son of Sachi, in Navadvipa - Mayapur. I will come in my complete spiritual form in the first part of Kali- Yuga. [Garuda Purana]

I shall appear on this earth in the first part of Kali-Yuga in a beautiful place on the bank of the Bhagirathi. I shall have a golden form, and I shall take birth as the son of Sachi. [Padma Purana]
Ka appears as an incarnation in every millennium. In the past, He assumed three different colors white, red and yellow and now He has appeared in a blackish color. [SB 10.8.13] In Caitanya-caritmta it is mentioned:
ukla, rakta, pta-vara ei tina dyuti satya-tret-kali-kle dharena r-pati
White, red and yellow these are the three bodily lusters that the Lord, the husband of the goddess of fortune, assumes in the ages of Satya, Tret and Kali respectively. Now, in the Dvpara-yuga, the Lord had descended in a blackish hue. This is the essence of the statements in the Puras and other Vedic literatures with reference to the context. [CC di 3.37-38]

The Supreme Personality of Godhead who in the Satya-Yuga appeared as a halfman, half-lion to cure a terrible disease that had ravaged the daityas, and who in the Treta- Yuga appeared as a person named Rama, the person who defeated the ten-headed Demon Ravana and who in the Dvapara-Yuga removed the earth's burden, and protected the Gopa people of Vraja-pura, will appear again in the Kali-Yuga. His form will be golden, He will delight in chanting the Lord's holy names, and His name will be Chaitanya. [Nrsimha-Purana]

O austere sage, you should know that in the age of Kali, everyone will see my transcendental form as a sannyasi. I will be exhibiting symptoms of ecstasy like shedding tears of bliss and hairs standing in ecstasy. [Bhavisya Purana]
My dear Lord, You are the Mah-purua, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and I worship Your lotus feet, which are the only eternal object of meditation. Those feet destroy the embarrassing conditions of material life and freely award the greatest desire of the soul, the attainment of pure love of Godhead. My dear
Lord, Your lotus feet are the shelter of all holy places and of all saintly authorities in the line of devotional service and are honored by powerful demigods like Lord iva and Lord Brahm. My Lord, You are so kind that You willingly protect all those who simply bow down to You with respect, and thus You mercifully relieve all the distress of Your servants. In conclusion, my Lord, Your lotus feet are actually the suitable boat for crossing over the ocean of birth and death, and therefore even Lord Brahm and Lord iva seek shelter at Your lotus feet. (SB 11.5.33)

O Mah-purua, I worship Your lotus feet. You gave up the association of the goddess of fortune and all her opulence, which is most difficult to renounce and is hankered after by even the great demigods. Being the most faithful follower of the path of religion, You thus left for the forest in obedience to a brhmaa's curse. Out of sheer mercifulness You chased after the fallen conditioned souls, who are always in pursuit of the false enjoyment of illusion, and at the same time engaged in searching out Your own desired object, Lord ymasundara. (SB 11.5.34)
