WOLF TRACKS Sunday Worship Schedule

9:00 am
Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary
Even though I wrote this last month, on the off chance some of our readers missed it, here it is again: A good practice for Christians during the season of Lent is to read one or more of the Gospel accounts of the Passion of Our Lord. An excellent website with all four gospel accounts and helpful commentary by Donald Senior may be found at: http://www.cptryon.org/ xpipassio/passio/ I highly recommend it. My wife and I stayed at a place next to Lake of the Ozarks last week. There were seagulls on a sandbar just off our shoreline who were fascinating to observe. Theyd arrive each morning at sunrise, hang out all day, and fly off into the sunset each night. There were actually two sandbars--one offshore, the other a needle-nosed endpoint of the shoreline. Each had a congregation of gulls. Gulls are contentious. They fight over food, they fight over territory, they chase each other and squawk for reasons only they and God know. They take off and fly in search of food, but unless Im crazy, sometimes they chase around in the air and ride the wind just for the sheer joy of it. Hey, man, these wings are cool! Look what I can do! But one morning I saw something really amazing. The two congregations set up on their sandbars, and after a couple of emissary gulls from the offshore group came over to the needle-point group, the whole needle-point group, every last one of them, simultaneously left their landing place and squeezed into the other crowd.

Pastor Paul Wolf Then a solitary gull, who mustve missed the gull alarm that morning, flew in from the west and landed all by itself on the point. After a minute, a gull from the offshore congregation came over to visit, then flew back. Mr. Im OK by myself stayed put. Then three more gulls from sandbar number one came over and visited the solitary one. They stayed awhile. When they lifted in flight, the loner joined them and squeezed into the offshore lineup, as happy as a lark....er, gull I mean. Looked like evangelism to me. Always enough room to squeeze more in, and looking for opportunities to invite others to join them. Youd think theyd been reading Matthew! Grace and peace, Pastor Paul

Secret Service
A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend said, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service!"

EASTER PROJECT with Childrens Church Offering: Offering The money raised will go
toward purchasing an animal or sets of animals to help a needy family. We will donate to World Vision or Samaritans Purse, two great organizations that are committed to helping the poor become self-sufficient by using the animals for food as well as selling the excess in order to earn a living. In addition, these companies are dedicated to sharing the life-saving message of Jesus love with the people whom they help. Please help your kids be generous. We are wanting to donate money for chicks, ducks, and rabbits as a fun project for Easter. It would be great if your kids can earn the money for their offering by helping around the house: it will help them feel ownership of the project. 2 Chickens: $25 1 Rabbit: $19 3 Rabbits: $57 3 Ducks: $21 5 Ducks + 2 Chickens: $60

Guest Quest is an instructional resource to assist churches that want to improve their hospitality, invitation, follow-up and follow-through with new people in worship. Whether your church is in a small, rural community or a large city, Guest Quest can help change its culture and increase participation in the life of your church. A Guest Quest training will be held at Faith UMC, 3035 Crawford in Parsons on Sunday, April 6th beginning at 4:00pm. 4:00pm Pastor Pat Broz, who designed the program with Bishop Scott Jones, will be present to help launch the program in our district. Please contact the church office ASAP to make reservations to take advantage of this great opportunity. Jim Schoenberger has graciously offered to drive the church van for those who attend.

The Legend of the Sand Dollar

There's a lovely little legend That I would like to tell Of the birth and death of Jesus Found in this lovely shell. If you examine closely You'll see that you find here Four nail holes and a fifth one Made by a Roman's spear. On one side the Easter Lily In its center is the star That appeared unto the shepherds And led them from afar. The Christmas Poinsettia Etched on the other side Reminds us of His Birthday Our Happy Christmastide. Now break the center open And here you will release The five white doves awaiting To spread Good Will and Peace. This simple little symbol Christ left for you and me To help us spread His Gospel Through all Eternity

How to become a member....

You are welcome to attend worship services, member or not. For that matter, you can attend any activity of the church and are invited to do so. Becoming a member is, in faith, saying you want a deeper commitment to the church. Our vows ask us to faithfully participate in the life of the church with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness. We hope you will be a part of the ministry of the First United Methodist Church. If you would like to become a member, please give us: Name(s), address, phone number, e-mail address, anniversaries, birthdays and if you are already a member of some other church or not. If you are, we also need the name of the church and, if possible, the address. Please give this to the pastor, or leave in the church office.

PLEASE CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE WHEN SCHEDULING MEETINGS OR EVENTS IN THE CHURCH BUILDING!
