Computer Lab - Work Prep offers a computer lab that is available all day long for our clients. Drop in to work on your resume, complete an online job search, look for childcare, research education and training options, practice typing, or any other work-related task. A counsellor will always be available to assist you. SOC 2 Preparing for Action - This workshop is ideal for people who are ready to begin planning and preparing for employment or training. Participants will be offered the tools needed to manage stress and access supports. Participants will leave armed with confidence and new resources, ready to take action toward their employment or training goals. Job Finding Club - This 1 hour weekly group encourages participants to look for work in a supportive and interactive group setting. The goal is for participants to generate job leads, build their networks, gain more confidence in their job search skills, feel more motivated to succeed, and receive additional supports as needed. Participants must be actively job searching and committed to attending the group on a weekly basis. Interacting with Employers - If youre not sure how to make a first connection or follow-up on the employment opportunities you want, this workshop will help build your confidence and abilities when communicating with a potential employer. We will discuss using informational interviewing techniques to learn more about a role youre interested in, and ways that individuals can use information meetings to find out more about the hiring process and get your foot in the door. Making Improvements to Your Own Resume - If you have an existing resume that you would like to add to or update, this computer lab tutorial will help you to make effective changes and format appropriately. We will discuss which items should be on your resume, and recommend suitable changes for specific job applications. Four-Part Series of Traditional Tipi Teachings with Elder Archie Weenie and Kurt Weenie - In this series, participants will construct a miniature Tipi while the teachings are explained by Elder Archie. Each piece of the Tipi has teachings to accompany it, and will be explained in detail. This program will offer possible solutions to barriers that may arise in life, and learning the teachings may provide tools for planning and coping with these barriers. There is no cost to attend the series and all supplies are provided. Drum Making Classes - The drum is used by Aboriginal peoples for devotional, celebration, healing, and journey work. The drum is a sacred tool to connect with the spirit of the earth and the spirits of the otherworld. Making your own drum is a spiritual journey of its own. Elder Archie Weenie will open the class with a smudge and prayer, and administer the teaching. After completion of the drums, he will smudge the drums for participants. This is a 2-part class; participants must attend both classes in order to complete their drum. All materials will be provided, although you may bring a rock or stone that will become the heart of the grip behind the drum. Cover Letters & References - This 2-hour workshop will unravel the mystery surrounding creating good cover letters. You will learn effective approaches to letting an employer know that you are clearly the best fit for the job. We will also discuss ways of obtaining and maintaining the best references, as well as following up with winning thank you letters. Community Resource Connections - This computer lab tutorial will offer participants some useful methods to find out about the resources and programming that are available in the community. We will focus on two major websites 211.ca and Saskatchewan.ca/live.

Survival in The Real World - Guest Speaker Keith Pratt will share his personal journey as an Aboriginal male and his challenges to succeed within the parameters and expectations of Western Society. Keith will go into detail on some of the obstacles that he encountered throughout his career, and how he overcame them. Using the Medicine Wheel to Ensure Balance - This workshop will use traditional medicine wheel teachings to clarify how each of us can maintain a personal and professional balance, in order to achieve employment success. We will use these teachings to uncover our own supports and strengths, and discover what we each need to reach a good balance. Decision Making and Problem Solving - This 2-hour workshop will focus on the steps involved in making any decision. You will build skills to solve daily problems, while also developing proficiency in decision making (which is essential for workplace success). Strategies for Maintaining Employment Do you have questions about how you might have better handled difficult employment situations in the past? Are you reluctant to pursue employment, because you are worried about dealing with added pressures? If so, then this workshop is for you. We will focus on building strategies that will enable you to keep, grow and thrive in your job. Introduction to Choice Theory - This 2-hour interactive workshop will get people thinking about what is most important to them when making choices, and reflect on how to select more effective behaviours in order to get what they want. It will encourage clients to accept personal responsibility for making positive change in their lives. Discussion will also include healthy relationship habits. Warehouse Employment Program - This 6-week program will provide knowledge and skill development leading to employment in a warehouse/distribution centre. Upon completion of the program, participants will have an understanding of work within the warehouse industry, material handling skills, as well as knowledge of time management, budgeting and personal fitness skills. Hospitality QuEST (Quality Employee Skills Training) Program - This 6-week course offers a core of career building skills, combined with personal development training for participants to gain a connection to the labour market. Topics include career planning, resume writing, interview skills, communication, customer service, job searching and employability skills.
