21 sc = 4 inches; 25 sc rows = 4 inches;
19 pattern rows = 3 inches
PATTERN NOTES
Strap is made in 1 piece in rounds.
After the first round, it is crocheted in
continuous rounds. Do not join or turn
rounds. Mark first stitch of each round.
Gauge on this project needs to be tight
to provide stability. This is especially
important in the Strap. Crochet tightly.
Nylon is slippery. Make sure to fasten
ends off securely. Weave ends through
many stitches and through many rows to
prevent unraveling. Optionally, use clear
nail polish or glue to secure ends.
The Bag Strap length can be adjusted
by simply shortening the length of the
starting chain. The bag width can be
adjusted by doing more or fewer rounds.

BAG
Strap
Rnd 1: Ch 481, sc in back bar (see Fig. 1)
of 2nd ch from hook and in back bar of
each ch across, being careful not to twist
chain, join with sl st in beg sc. Using beg
end to tack bottom of sts tog. (480 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around, do not
join (see Pattern Notes).
Rnds 310: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 11: Sc in each st around, join with
sl st in beg sc. Fasten off. Place marker in
last st.
Markers
The marker at the last st will be the top of
the panel.
With the RS facing and marker on the top,
count 76 sts to the left of the marker and
place marker. This is the bottom corner of
the panel.
Count 91 sts to the left of last marker and
place marker. This is the other bottom
corner of the panel.
Count 76 sts to the left of the last marker
and place marker. This is the other top
corner.
Place marker on opposite side of Strap.
Front Panel
Row 1 (RS): Ch 93, dc in back bar of 4th ch
from hook (frst 3 chs count as frst dc), dc in
back bar of each ch across, turn. (91 dc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), [fpdc
around next st 2 rows below, sk next st
behind fpdc on this row, dc in next st]
across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, [dc in next st, fpdc around
next st 2 rows below, sk next st behind
fpdc on this row] across, ending with dc
in each of last 2 sts, turn.
Rows 674: [Rep rows 25 consecutively
for pattern] 18 times, ending last rep with
row 2.
Row 75: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Rnd 76: Working around outer edge, ch

Pocket
Row 1: Ch 47, sc in 2nd ch from hook
and in each ch across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Next rows: Rep row 2 until piece
measures 4 inches from beg or to
desired depth. At end of last row,
fasten off.
Assembly
Sew Pocket to Front Panel 71 inches
from bottom and 4 inches in from
each side. Also run a line of sts up the
center of Pocket to create 2 Pockets.
With WS tog and Panels facing, sc
Panels to Strap according to placed
markers.
The Back Panel should only be at-
tached up to the marker, the remain-
der of the Panel will be the flap.
Closures
Cut fabric into 4 1-inch pieces. If
needed, turn small edges under to
prevent fraying.
Following manufacturers instruc-
tions, attach magnetic closures to
fabric.
Sew to RS of Front Panel. Locate the
point on the flap where the closures
will be before stitching the fabric, at-
tach the button on the RS of the flap.
Then attach to other half of the mag-
netic closure.
Edging
Join with sl st in 1 corner between flap
and Strap, working from left to right,
reverse sc (see Fig. 2) around Strap and
across flap. Fasten off.
Join with sl st in corner Front Panel and
Strap edge, reverse sc around Strap across
Front. Fasten off.
Lining
Cut 23 x 33-inch rectangle from fabric.
With RS tog, fold in half lengthwise and
sew sides tog allowing 1 inch for seams.
Turn RS out and fold and press top edge
down 1 inch.
Insert Lining into Bag, with sewing needle
and thread whipstitch to top edge of Bag.
If desired place a few sts in the bottom cor-
ners of the Bag to keep Lining in place. C!
