THEME: World of Knowledge TOPIC: Fresh fruits CONTENT STANDARDS: 1.1 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be
able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. LEARNING STANDARDS: 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say aloud and paying attention to pronunciation, rhythm and intonation. 1.1.4 Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance. 1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by: (d) sequencing with guidance.

OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to: (a) listen and arrange which fruits being mentioned by numbering them correctly. (b) respond and guess 4 out of 6 riddles given correctly (c) listen to the sentence in fruits whisper game and share it to the class correctly. STEPS/TIME PRE LISTENING


( 15 MINS)

CONTENT The teacher asks WH-questions to the pupils e.g. What is your favourite fruit? What does it looks like? What color is your favourite fruit? The teacher divides the class into 6 groups. Each group will choose one riddle and the teacher read the riddle to the class. The selected group will guess the answer. If the selected group fails to answer it, the opportunity will be given to the other group. The teacher presents a fruit salad recipe to the pupils. The pupils listen to the teachers presentation. The teacher distributes the sequencing picture cards to each group. The teacher will present the fruit salad recipe for the second time. At the same time, the pupils will listen and arrange the fruit picture that comes first and numbering them accordingly. The teacher distributes the worksheet to every group. The teacher will conduct a fruit bingo game based on the worksheet given. The teacher says the name of fruit and the pupils will listen and tick the fruit that being said in the bingo worksheet. The teacher will divide the class

into two groups consisting of 15 pupils in each group. The teacher will arrange the groups into two opposite lines with each team. The teacher will explain the rules to play the fruit whisper game to the class. The teacher will gives two different sentences to the first pupil in each group. The first pupil will tell the message to next pupil by whispering it. The second pupil will repeat the message very quickly in a whisper to the pupil behind them and no one else must hear. The game will continue until the teacher claps three times as a sign that the time has ended. The last person in the group who manages to get the messages will present it to the class. The first person who get the message will confirm whether the last person get the correct information or not. The teacher emphasizes the importance of eating fruits. The teacher instills the moral values such as tolerance, helping each other, and accepting others opinion.

The pupils will arrange the steps of fruit salad by numbering them correctly.

1) Shape of mangosteen is round like berries and has a thick outer layer that is usually maroon in colour.

Show pictures of few fruits such as banana, papaya, watermelon and pineapple. Guide pupils to describe the picture. Ask the pupils to sing along the songs watermelon.

While Listening ( 30 mins) Pupils are divided into 6 groups. Pupils listen to the teacher reading the text. Next, each group will read again the same text but each group will read different parts. Ask every group to list down the sequence of the story.

Post Listening ( 15 mins) In groups, pupils will create their own story based on the fruits that they like. Each groups will act out in front of the class.

Closure ( 5 mins) Teacher tells the pupils the importance of cooperation in a group. Tolerance is important in life.
