Module: Stretchers

Objectives

By the end of the module, the participant will be able to: Make the correct entries to create a stretcher PNR Make the correct entries to create a Phase IV ticket record for a stretcher case Make the correct entry to display the name list for stretcher PNRs

Instructions

Participants should have completed the Phase IV modules prior to completion of Stretchers. No additional special instructions are required. Procedures should be firmly established on the booking of stretchers. Most carriers give control of stretchers to CRC or a specialized department, while other carriers allow the Reservations agent to create the PNR then transfer or queue place to the responsible department for followup. If booking is by the Reservations agent, it is recommended that the agent first check the flight's seat map to ensure the required number of seats are available together. If not, it will be necessary to check alternate flights or displace passengers who already hold reserved seats. It is also highly recommended that once the stretcher PNR is created, the responsible department immediately block out the required seats rows on the seat map. If the carrier is an ACS user, two options are available: Within the ACI period, block out seats with the 4GB entry. This will subsequently show the blocked seats with an 0. Within the ACS period, block out the seats with the GMB entry. This will subsequently show the seats blocked.

At check-in time, the agent would request one of the blocked seats to be unblocked and a boarding pass issued under the passenger name. The remaining seats would remain blocked. For additional information, refer to FOCUS.

Introduce

Stretcher Cases

Explain

Many carriers have occasion to accommodate stretcher patients in either the First Class, Business or Coach cabin of their aircraft if applicable. Procedures may vary from one Sabre hosted carrier to another. Whether the passenger must first consult a Medical Acceptance desk at the airline or if the PNR is controlled from Central Reservations Control, the PNR creation will be basically the same. It is recommended to consult your local policies and procedures as it relates to the number of seats and fares charged for a stretcher passenger, as well as the pre-reserved seat data. It should also be noted if the PNR is required to be placed on a specific queue for monitoring or additional action. The procedures here are for guideline purposes and should be combined with the carriers local policies. The basic stretcher PNR will include several items: Name field indicating stretcher Passenger name Phase IV ticket record to store the fare SSR indicating stretcher passenger

The purpose of this entry is to display a corporate name list for a specified flight and date. The list will include stretcher PNRs. It is important to name the corporate name field STRETCHER or some form of the word stretcher for ease in locating the PNR from the name list. The Sabre computer reservation system response will be a list of PNRs using the corporate name field.
