WODFEST Terms and Conditions

The 2014 WODFEST is a competition/showcase which is arranged and conducted by The Woden School for the general purpose of encouraging and rewarding ACT students in the artistic discipline of film making and digital art. The $1000 first prize is for the overall best entry in the festival either short film or digital portfolio.

Short films
1. 2. 3. 4. Entries must be based on the WODFEST theme of You, Me, Them. Film makers can interpret this as they please, however the judges will use the theme as one of the judging criteria. Total running time of each entry must be (5) minutes or less, and should include titles and credits. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate WODFEST Entry Form. Each film entry submitted must be labelled clearly with the entrants name (School/Individual), Film Title, Entry Category and Running Time. Entrants must submit their entries in accordance with the details listed on the Entry Form. Entries must be submitted in: a. b. c. d. 6. 7. 8. 9. Students / Schools may enter as many productions as they wish; however, each entry must be on a separate disc and each entry requires a separate Entry Form. Completed Entry Forms with entry fee must be received by the entry closing date of 26 September 2014 All films must be received by the closing date of 26 September 2014. No entries will be accepted after this date. Students entering the competition must be enrolled at an ACT school at the date the film is submitted into the competition.

10. Students must be responsible for the key film-making roles. Students films must be written, directed, produced and technically executed by Students. Teacher, Parent and other filmmaker assistance is permitted but must be limited to non-creative roles (ie. Planning assistance, technical advice, funding, etc). 11. Non-Students may be used as actors and for voice-overs as long as they were directed by Students. 12. All entries must comply with PG Classification Guidelines set by the Office of Film and Literature Classification (http://www.comlaw.gov.au/details/F2008C00126). Films that do not comply with the PG Classification Guidelines will not be deemed as valid entries and therefore will not be screened or judged in the 2014 WODFEST. 13. All necessary permissions, authorities and licences must be obtained for the use of equipment (such as vehicles, machinery, firearms and chemicals) as props during film-making. WODFEST is not responsible for seeking or obtaining proof for such authorities for the purpose of judging, distributing, or presenting films entered into WODFEST. 14. In relation to copyright in all visual materials and music, all necessary permissions, authorities, licences, consents, releases and waivers from third parties who own the third party material and intellectual property therein must be obtained by the entrant. This is not the responsibility of WODFEST. 15. All entries that include music containing copyrights must have permission(s) for use. Entrants accept responsibility for obtaining the appropriate permissions for use of music used in the film; WODFEST

will not accept responsibility for consequences arising from films screened without copyright permission for music; such consequences will be passed over to the filmmakers and/or School. 16. Students must submit the films in the name of the School if that school supported the creation of the film(s). 17. Entries will be screened before the event by the Judging Panel who will select the finalists and winning entries. Finalist film-makers will be notified prior to the WODFEST screenings. Winners will th be announced at WODFEST on Friday November 7 2014 18. The Judging Panel and WODFEST hold the authority to determine the winning films. No dispute will be entered into the Judging Panel and WODFESTs final decision. 19. There will also be prizes for the following Awards; . . . . . . Creative Interpretation Award Technical Achievement Award Encouragement Award Best Screenplay Award Peoples Choice Award Category Awards (Primary, Secondary),

20. WODFEST will take all care but accept no responsibility for loss or damage to any entry. 21. Award Winners agree to participate in the publicity for the awards as well as other promotional events if required. 22. All entries may be screened to the public in various capacities including on www.thewodens.act.edu.au, You Tube, television, public film screenings and other channels. WODFEST reserve the right to screen these entries without seeking additional permission from entrants. 23. WODFEST will not provide payment to any entrant for the public or private screening of films entered into the competition. 24. Entry to WODFEST is not a guarantee that the material will be screened and WODFEST reserve the right to choose which films will be screened. 25. Original entries will not be returned. WODFEST reserves the right to use the entries for any purpose they choose. 26. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, WODFEST is not liable and does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct, indirect or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained by a participant or Award Winner. For clarification, a participant means anyone involved in the making of the film.

Digital Portfolios

Artists/photographers can interpret this as they please, however the judges will use the theme as one of the judging criteria. Artists/photographers may enter more than one portfolio, Portfolios are restricted to four to six digital images. The portfolio is judged as a portfolio not as individual images. All images must be the students own work. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate WODFEST Entry Form. Completed Entry Forms with entry fee must be received by the entry closing date of 26 September 2014 All portfolios must be received by the closing date of 26 September 2014 The image requirements are as follows: a. Files must be presented in jpeg format b. file name must commence with your surname For example the file "people.jpg" would need to be renamed either "jones-people.jpg"
