Pupils have already been exposed to the use of adjectives in sentences. BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: 1) Listen to the story and answer the questions throughout the story 2) Describe the character by listing a number of adjectives in groups 3) Answer questions related to the story by constructing simple and compound sentences

Introduction to the story: The Selfish Giant

1) Teacher introduces the title of the story to pupils. 2) Teacher asks pupils to guess on what the story is all about.

Storytelling The Selfish Giant

1) Teacher reads the story and asks questions to pupils throughout the storytelling session 2) Teacher discusses the story with the pupils by asking questions e.g. What do you think of the story? Do you like it? How do you describe the Giant? If you were the Giant, how would you feel if your garden is still winter while it was spring everywhere else?

Practice 20 Minutes

Describing characters in the story

1) Teacher divides pupils into groups of 4. 2) Teacher pastes a few adjectives on the whiteboard 3) Teacher asks pupils to work in groups to classify the adjectives to describe the character in the story (i.e. the Giants character at the beginning of the story and at the end of the story) 4) Teacher checks the answer together with pupils
