FORUM I
CALLA instruction is designed to provide students with
varied experiences in acquiring content, academic
language, and learning strategies that will prepare them
for greater success in grade ? level classrooms. Do you
think this approach is being followed in our schools?

CALLA provides students with some experiences in


acquiring content, so currently this kind of instruction is
adapted to the level and kind of students we teach, as we
know every student adquires in a different way the
knowledge for many reasons, some of them learn easily and
some of them don’t. There are other things that maybe
could be impossible to follow this instruction, the resources
and the time we manage are very important.

for example in case only teach 45 minutes per classroom


and I have to fallow a plan or a syllabus, but It’s really hard
to finish so I have to teach the most important rules and I
make them do exercises, groupworks, games to help me
the teaching is better and they learn easily and better.

FORUM II
Which learning strategies would you have your students
use when working on a listenging exercise?
From my experience I consider this strategies:

1. I make them look at the page we’re working and in pair I


ask them to talk about what the topic or the picture is
about.
2 They share their own ideas to the class
3.They focus and listen to the recording twice or three
times depending on the level they are and take notes about
it.
4. They compare with another partner about what they said
before and if their prediction was ok or not, finally I ask
them what the recording was about.
FORUM III
Which of the cognitive learning models do you think you
could use the most in your classes? why?
I think the constructivism learning mode is the model I
currently I use because It helps students to have a base
that helps them to learn easily having in count their past
experiences. I think that’s why we use the brainstorming as
a way to ask students what they know about the topic and
acconding to this we can have an idea about their level they
are and it helps us to prepare and be ready and what kind
of class we can teach them.

Do you like to use "True or False"" evaluation technique in
your tests? Why?

Yes, I do! Because I think It’s a kind of technique that


makes students to think, to reflect, to understand and to
read carefully to get the right answer. I know there are
some teachers that consider an easy technique, but at least
we can use it with beginers.

HOW TO USE THE TRANSFER/COGNATE LEARNING
STRATEGY.

We can use it making a link between them and it makes


students remember or remain the Word they want to.

For example:

Teléfono – telephone

Guachiman – watch man

Marketing marketing

A student can link these words and it will be easier for them
to learn english.

ACTIVITY II
WRITE THREE LEARNING STRATEGIES YOU WOULDN`T USE
WHEN TEACHING MATH, WHY?

1. I wouldn’t use listening because It’s not important to


listen to about math, they can learn math using
another strategies like group Works, expositions,
problems, etc.

2. I wouldn’t use projects like interviewing someone,


something like that because It’s not necessary
3. I wouldn’t use videos because it won’t help them to
learn better. They will learn much better practising a
lot like english.
