Description: A stationery design for Karen and Rachel Interior Design Company. Programs: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign Date: March 1st, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: To convey that Karen and Rachel Interior Design Company is classy and

trusting company through a proper format of stationery. The stationery should convey that Karen and Rachel Interior Design are trustworthy by the design of their letterheads; it will show that they will do the right job for the right person looking for interior design help. Process: A color scheme was established and then a modified logo was incorporated into Adobe Illustrator. I then placed the background photo onto the page and played around with the placement and opacity. I decided that I wanted another element that included the green from the logo so I added a line from the pen tool and added the green stroke to match. I then added my contact information for the stationery and made sure it was aligned properly. Once I was completely done in Adobe Illustrator, I took the stationery document into InDesign. Once I got the document into InDesign I placed it so it was properly. adjusted to the page. I made the document into a Jpeg for Word Press and then submitted my project.

Description: A business card for Karen and Rachel Interior Design Company. Programs: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign Date: March 1, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: To create a proper business card for the Karen and Rachel Interior Design

Company. The business card is supposed to show the high class and sophistication of the company through the business card. The business card is generally the first thing people see with a company and if it isnt properly designed, the company might not get the amount of business they need to succeed. I wanted the business card to be simple but elegant. I wanted it to show the name of the company with a nice image in the background that was consistant to the stationery. I wanted the information to be specific to Rachel of Karen and Rachel.

Process: First I did a few sketches for the business card.

I took my idea and brought it into Adobe Illustrator. I created a stroke for the outline of the business card. I made sure it was 2.5x3 inches. I imported the words I wanted on the business card and placed them. I brought the image in and created the stroke and the ampersand to match the logo on the back of the card. I played around with the placement and alignment to give the proper elements and enough white space. I added the green stroke to the back along with the image to keep repetition for both the front of back of the business card. After I was done in Illustrator, I brought the image into InDesign to check image size and export it.

Process: First I picked a logo from Adobe Illustrator and edited it a little bit.

I sized the image correctly so it wouldnt be blurry when I brought it into the HTML document. I then created an HTML document as long as a css document. I connected the documents together so the information would read each other. I set the codes up the way I wanted it to be on the HTML document. I used proper use of tabbing, opening and closing tags and add paragraphs in the right place. After I was able to get everything in the right place, I started to play with the design. I used the site provided, W3 Schools and looked up some codes. I changed the font so I would have the proper typography. I changed the colors to match the logo I brought in. I made sure the logo was placed in a spot that brought the attention of the reader there first and then went to the information about the company. After everything was put together I did some trial and errors with how it looked and finished up the web page. I brought it into photoshop to be screen shot

Process: The first thing I did was change my logo in Adobe Photoshop.

I changed the color and took off the border. I then took the image and placed it into an InDesign document. I then picked out some pictures that would match the color scheme I came up with. I found a total of 5 photos including one that I was going to text wrap. I set up my margins in the InDesign document and proceeded to design the cover. I used a box for the back of the title using contrasting typography. I added the dates of the expo at the bottom. I added an image to the back of the brochure that tied in with the rest of the companys features. I added the logo I made and created a grey stroke to go behind it. I used the same image for the panel on the inside that would be seen when the brochure was shut along with the stroke for repetition. I added the photos I gathered and placed them into the left side of the document with words and a orange stroke around the image. I continued to put my 250 words on the right side. I went into Photoshop and took the chair and used the lasso tool to cut it out. I then took out the background and change it to white. I brought it into InDesign and text wrapped it. I packaged the document with the proper links so I could export each screen shot into a Jpg.

Description: A montage of Paul Goldschmidt and the desert. Programs: Adobe Photoshop Date: February 15, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: To take two different images and properly blend them together into a
montage using Photoshop.

Process: First I looked for two high quality photos that would go together.

Paul Goldschmidt is an Arizona Diamondback baseball player so I wanted to get a picture of him batting and the desert. After establishing the photos I wanted to use, I brought the Paul Goldschmidt image into Photoshop on a 8.5x11 inch document and used the lasso tool to take him into the desert tab. I placed him onto the picture with the desert and then continued to use the black brush tool to make the edges smooth. I picked a placed on the document and started blending it with the brush tool. I played with the placement for a while to get the right spot. I continued to use the black and white brush tool to make sure the picture of Paul Goldschmidt fit nicely without taking too much of the background out of the picture. Once the image was in the document and properly placed, I used a few filters including the Photo Filter, Channel Mixer and Selective Color I only applied to the background image. As I finished up the Photoshop document I changed the color filter to make sure the magentas were optimized because I really liked the sunset color that matched his jersey slightly, it blended well with his helmet.

Description: Logos made for Karen and Rachel Interior Design Company. Programs: Adobe Illustrator Date: February 22, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: The objective of this project was to make three different logos that could
interior design for high end homes. These logos were made to portray the company.

represent a company or anything that was able to be branded. I wanted to brand a company named Karen and Rachel Interior Design. The company is very classy and elegant and does

Process: First I came up with three different ideas and types of logos.

I decided on a trademark logo first. I then picked an image logo which was a couch. The last logo type I picked was shapes. I started on the top logo and wanted to make it simple because the trademark is so significant and unique. Th couch logo took me the longest to do. I found a picture of a couch for inspiration and started by using the shapes tool to make the base of the couch. I then used the pen tool to contort the lines the way I wanted it to be. The last logo was shapes and I wanted to make a diamond type logo with the name of the company. I kept the typography consistent and the same throughout all of the logos. I wanted the company to see the consistency that these logos bring. The color scheme on the first two are monochromatic and on the last logo it is Complementary. CHANGES: I took out the Interior Design from the top logo and the bottom logo. I felt like it was too much and wanted to keep the logos super simple.

Description: This is a flier for a Graduation Leadership Conference. Programs: Adobe InDeisgn Date: January 25, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: I wanted to make an adequate flier for a graduation leadership conference
that has the proper information in the right place. I wanted good flow and proper typography.

Process: First I made four different sketches to get an idea of what kind of poster I

wanted to make. I wanted to emphasize the word graduation so that anyone passing by where this flier may be if they are graduating than they might find this information interesting to themselves. I gathered the information that was provided to me and started placing it in the 8.5x11 inch document based on my different sketches. I decided to add different black boxes for consistency throughout and create a good gestalt. I had to keep in mind that white space was really important especially since there was a lot of information being put out there. After I placed everything I changed the fonts to have good typography. I then started on the title. I wanted graduation to be especially big so I made the font really big then added the leadership conference underneath to create substance. I put the logo underneath the photo so it would be one of the last things someone would read on this flier after they decide they want to go by reading the information. I also bolded the title for the paragraphs as a good leeway.

Description: A photodesign project with a known color scheme. Programs: Adobe Photoshop Date: February 8, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: To take a high quality photo with a camera and upload it to Photoshop and
edit it using four basic editing tools. Also, we had to add the color scheme we used one the photodesign project.

Process: I first decided to pick out a color scheme to decide which pallet I would be

using, I referred to my Visual FOCUS book for help. I decided to use red and green because my best photo was Christmas themed. I then decided I wanted to do a complementary color scheme and then I went from there. I picked to make an event ad because I thought it was my worst project and I wanted to justify myself making an event ad that was proper. I was able to get a digital camera to start taking my pictures. I used window light inside to capture this photo. I thought it was the best photo I had taken of the day so I used it. I uploaded the picture to Photoshop and began to edit. I used four basic edits: levels, sharpness, vibrance/saturation and selective color. I then added other features such as a white rectangle with a opacity of about 65%. I put the color scheme names where they were because it aligned with the top of the ornament. I thought there was enough white space so it was fine for me to put the color scheme where it is located.

Process: First I looked though a lot of magazines and once I decided on one photo I

started to get to work. I scanned the image and sized it so it would fit the page and have a proper pixel ratio. I got the picture on the computer and I brought it into Microsoft Word and started playing around with different placements of the photo. I also decided on a monochromatic color scheme would fit perfectly with this picture. I started playing around with different font types. I didnt want my title to be boring so I brought down the rest of the title and aligned it with the emphasis on make up. I wanted the eyes of the reader to go to the picture and then look at the title and then look down at the information. The information is placed in a place so there is enough white space and it isnt cluttered. I changed the opacity on some boxes so I could keep my color scheme monochromatic like I wanted it to be.

Description: An advertisement ad for Forever 21 clothing store. Programs: Adobe InDesign Date: April 3, 2014 Course: Communications 130; Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: To advertise Forever 21 and their new spring sale. I wanted to portray the
store in an appropriate way. I wanted to keep the scheme consistent with the way Forever 21 advertises themselves.

Process: I first looked through Forever 21s website to get an idea of what I wanted to

do. I noticed they used similar fonts every once in a while on their site so I built off that. I wanted to do something a little different and use a simple color with pretty fonts. I started on the title of the company at the top. I used a script font to show the style of the company. I made the R in forever blend with the 21. I then came up with the content and decided it was going to be a spring sale. I added a few more lines to give the reader more of an idea of what was happening with the company sale. I added a links at the bottom because thats what most websites do. I then thought the page was bare and decided to add more shapes. I used the shape tool with the polygon shape and copy and pasted it a few times until I was satisfied. I moved the polygon to different places on the 8.5x11 inch page to give it an over shape and gave it gestalt. I kept the design simple because I didnt want it to have too many conflicting colors and just get the message out there for everyone to see.
