APPENDIX 14 FULLY TIGHT VALVES (VET) DESCRIPTION 1 PURPOSE The purpose of this appendix is to list and describe the

e technical requirements of approved VETs for use in Oil & Gas Production Facilities. The selection of these valves shall be in accordance with DR-ENGP-II-P1-1.3. Objectives of this appendix: Set the VET tags for each material and pressure class specification; Set the VET tags in accordance with DR-ENGP-II-p1-1.3, which describes the VET series, their selection criteria and application scope; Guide the project using the Table of Codes, item 7 of this appendix; Define requirements and criteria for tightness acceptance tests; Provide specific guidelines for the VET inspection; Provide instructions for VET commissioning; Define the warranty time. 2 DEFINITION VETs (Fully Tight Valves) are the ones which require greater tightness guarantee and lifetime. VETs shall have specific constructive characteristics due to their installation requirements. They are installed in pipes carrying flammable and toxic fluids, important functions (SDV, BDV, ADV, HV and XV), to assure operational safety and integrity for people and equipments.

VETs are valves with detailed constructive characteristics and high performance, dispense the bench test during the construction and assembly stage since it is attested, in the FAT, by PETROBRAS or its factory representant. If the bench test is needed during the construction and assembly stage or the unit operation, the requirements of this document shall be followed. The specifications and VET TAGs are described in the Table of Codes, item 7 of this document.

VETs are sub-divided as follows: VET Serie 000 (Soft seat ball valve); VET Serie 100 (Plug valve with expanding slips); VET Serie 200 (Triple-offset butterfly valve); VET Serie 300 (Balanced plug valves); VET Serie 400 (Rising stem ball valve); VET Serie 500 (Expanding gate valve); VET Serie 600 ( Concentric butterfly valve); VET Serie 700 (Triple-offset Ball valve); VET Serie 750 (Diaphragm valve); VET Serie 800 (Bi-offset butterfly valve); VET Serie 900 (Metal-metal ball valve); VET Serie 1000 (Single body double ball, compact valve ASME B16.10); VET Serie 1100 (Compact balanced plug valve); VET Serie 1200 (Compact trunnion mounted ball valve); VET Serie 1300 (Single body, double ball compact valve); VET Serie 1400 (Double ball for process impulse connection); VET Serie 1500 (Non Slam check valve); VET Serie 1600 (Gate valve slab gate API 6A); VET Serie 1700 (Axial on-off valve); VET Serie 1800 (Compact metal to metal ball valve) 3 WARRANTY PERIOD All Fully Tight Valves shall be designed with mechanical characteristics that guarantee tightness operation for, at least, 3 years under normal operation, without needing internal parts maintenance, except for Fully Tight Valves serial 900, that are 6 years and for Fully Tight Valves serial 600, that are 1 year and a half. Their projects shall also consider at least 500 complete cycles (opening and closing, once every 2 days) without failure occurence, with maintenance only in the external parts, without affecting their tightness characteristics (tight shutoff"), except for Fully Tight Valves serial 900, that are 1000 complete cycles. Any repairs under warranty, costs of material and logistics will be paid by the manufacturer. The valve manufacturer shall formalize this warranty directly for PETROBRAS. 4 SEALING TEST AT THE FACTORY All Fully Tight Valves, independently of diameter, technical characteristics and pressure limits shall be tested by suppliers at their factories. Suppliers shall issue testing certificates in full compliance with the datasheets MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR TIGHTNESS TEST All tests to be performed on construction sites shall have their procedures previously submitted to PETROBRAS approval.

All tests shall be monitored by PETROBRAS inspectors and by the company contracted to supply the UEP (Stationary Production Unit). If a failure is detected during visual inspection (mechanical damage, rust, etc.) or on the line test (leaks, loss of tightness), the respective valve shall be removed, repaired and resubmitted to the bench test by the manufacturer. Valves and lines involved in the test shall undergo a preliminary visual inspection to verify the integrity of the valve pipe and the absence of internal fragments. The pressure test to be applied on installed valves shall be 10% above the maximum operating pressure of the service. For VET SERIES "200" to "600", VET SERIES "300P" or "500P", the minimum pressure test shall be 600 Kpag (minimum). 5 INSPECTION AND TESTS - The testing procedures for valves shall be in accordance with the requirements of ASME B16.34 and all standards referenced in the valves datasheets. - The tests shall be according to each kind of material, unless another specification by the customer. - Non-destructive tests shall be applied as described below: CAST IRON AND BRASS VALVES: - Visual 100% - For body and castle of cast iron and forged valves, ASME class 150 and 300, the magnetic particle testing is required in 20% of each batch material. CARBON STEEL VALVES: - Visual 100% - For body and castle of forged valves, class 900, 1500 and 2500, the test of magnetic particles is required in 100% of each batch material. - For body and castle of casting valves, class 900, 1500 and 2500, the radiographic examination in critical areas is required in 100% of each batch material. STAINLESS STEEL VALVES: - Visual 100% - For body and castle of forged and casting valves, class 150 and 300, the Liquid penetrant test is required in 20% of each batch material. - For body and castle of forged valves, class 900, 1500 and 2500, the Liquid penetrant test is required in 100% of each batch material.
